    SDCC 2012

Didn't Comic Con just become a huge corporate event that's been taken over by the film studios etc? Doesn't seem like something I'd like to go to from what I hear even if I wasn't thousands of miles away.
  2. There's your problem. Squirrel fans are always going to be louder than normal fans. You'll have to decide between being able to hear people or keeping the air on your face. I personally only use fans to cut down on fogging. I use two small cpu fans directly in front of my mouth blowing outward. They are pretty quiet so I don't have any of the same problems. I had a squirrel fan in there once and it was so loud I couldn't hear anyone no matter how close I got.
  3. I went a head and merged both of the topics you posted 4 minutes apart from each other in different forums.
  4. You might be able to remedy that by adding a couple of snaps. Just a thought.
  5. Yeah, I'd say if you're going with anything other than TM or RS, you should just go with snaps and straps.
  6. I would suggest dyeing as well. I can pretty much guarantee that even TK boots has to order a minimum from whoever their supplier/manufacturer is.
  7. Ouch that sucks. At least now you'll make sure every snap works before gluing it in.
  8. Very nice stuff. I have been wanting to do this for a while as well. I might actually get around to it so that Olga can have one for C6. I like the idea of a tiny TK running around with a gun that's her size. I have a set of templates I found somewhere, which ones are you using and do you think they're decent?
  9. Thanks for posting this Eric. Maybe you can make a tutorial thread about gluing handguards to gloves, nomex or otherwise.
  10. Since when is posting in the Off Topic forum off topic?
  11. I doubt it would work. The tops of Nomex gloves are fabric. Fabric glue would be okay, but won't adhere to the hand guards that well, and crazy glue is great for the hand guards but doesn't work at all on fabric.
  12. Be careful using a magic eraser to remove any marks. It is like a fine grit of sand paper and WILL remove the shine from your armor. (if that's something you care about)
  13. I wouldn't mind one, but forking over that kind of cash for a blaster would be tough. Been thinking about getting one for Olga though. Perhaps I'll make one.
  14. I have done a costume that requires make-up and know a girl that does a Darth Talon and I will say that sitting for hours doing make-up SUCKS. It also creates an added cost to your costume. Just keep that in mind when deciding.
  15. Do not get a Cushman. I had one, it was garbage. I bought it for a hundred bucks from a buddy. He fixed it up so it actually looked a lot better than most of the ones I've seen. Even then, it still looked like garbage. I got rid of it with my FX gear. I've been dying to get my hands on a doopy one, but they don't ship out to us.
  16. My recommendation is you get a set of gloves for trooping and only use the rubber ones for pictures and stuff like that. Some good nomex gloves will be way more comfortable and definitely keep you cooler.
  17. Yeah, I don't think that's gonna happen. That suit is hideous.
  18. Done. Also, I translated the page and this was hilarious: If you committed a guideline, a team is Dan solution. Solidify the file as team player, FISD subjected to Foramu
  19. I have tried all kinds of things to stop fogging. Miami has insane humidity so it's a real problem. Nothing, and I mean nothing worked like putting a couple of exhaust fans in front of my mouth.
  20. Unfortunately most of the 501st Legion people who march don't even end up staying at the park. We usually arrive at the park around 6 or 7. From there we wait and wait and wait until we dress up. We march, collect our tickets, then Disney kicks us out. I'd recommend you go on the Florida Garrison Forum: www.fl501st.com instead and find some people in your area.
