  1. very nice man. Test fitting is so much fun! question, I see alot of people attaching elastic from the upper arm to the forearm. what exactly is the reason behind this? Im just looking for excuses to do more work on my armor....there's a small void in my heart.
  2. http://www.tkboots.com/ that the one your looking for?
  3. heh awesome pics. with what you have completed so far how did everything feel? I believe the 1/8 rivets are what your going to use, but Im not sure. Best to take advice from someone who knows TKs heh
  4. You shouldent have a problem joining the 501st, EIB is a differnt story I believe. If you can't joing the 501st that would be total BS. Wish ya the best of luck
  5. Yes trim the front to the width of the strips then trim the back to clam shell snug around you. Then place another strip on the back.
  6. I might be miss understanding you but are you asking how to get the armor to fit to your build? If that's what your asking it's just as simple as putting the two pieces of the arm/thigh/calf around you and marking where you need to cut to get it snug with or with out foam that's up to you.
  7. Measure twice, cut once. For the most part I cut along the mold lines. Fitted every thing with painters tape and cut more cuz I'm a skinny twig boy. One annoying mistake I did was cut to the mold lines on the ears for the bucket, it was actually to much and I had to order a new set. And I agree christaan, it is nice to see more ata builds. I feel like we are the old men now. Tk300s site is a great place for info. http://www.tonybarnett.plus.com
  8. 100% agree. I almost walked down that dark path when I started. Do your research, it took me about a month to find what I was looking for. study, study, study! There is a heap of info on these boards tutorials/Pics/Videos helpful websites. It maybe alot of work to put this all together but it defiantly puts a smile on your face when you see what kinda monster you created in a few months.
  9. Thanks for the input guys. Maybe saveing up for a romfx system is the best bet. And I'll continue to use my boom mic setup till then
  10. I have one of those Radio shack mini Audio Amps----------- mounted in my chest piece. And I have been looking around at some throat mics and found some that look alright. I just want something I can plug in to the voice amp and be heard with out any mods. These are the ones I was looking at. -------- suggestions? input?
  11. Looks good! Are you going td or tk?
  12. wow that must have been so cool! I've seen the vids and yeah....love the yoda lol. However I really wish they showd a bit more of you guys in the armor if ya haven't seen them yet Obievon here is a few vids http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/30/t...t_n_340021.html
  13. You compleated it rather quickly nice job. You look at home in Spencers lol. I'm sure your still going to work on it since the chest buttons arnt on and the belt I see has two rivits instead of just the two on the ends and one in the middle with the caps.
  14. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! Naatsirhic how long did it take for ya to get your id? Not that I'm in a hurry or anything the MEPDforums are down lol.
  15. ok, if your going to unglue it, stick it in the freezer for a bit and CAREFULLY take that exacto knife to it and peal it away.

  17. I dont know Kev, but I would say velcroing might be better. Shoving your foot in to hard might break something, better safe the sorry. If your happy with it then go for it, it's your armor
  18. Wireing up some fans in the helmet is a good start. I have also heard of some people wearing cooling vests
  19. Looking good man! I would go with black to connect the chest to the back. I used black Velcro and that seems to work really well. You could try and use a snap however the curves on the chest and back might cause a problem for the little abs snap peices to sit flush.
  20. I might be the average joe, but it looks fine to me, once you put a shim of abs over the top you wont even notice. I did the same thing on my thighs. I glued the front just like you did and hard core trimmed the back cuz im really skinny. Older pics I've done a tad bit more trimming so it doesn't hit the butt piece http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab72/Ki...icture019-1.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab72/Ki...icture023-1.jpg hope you can see, I don't have any close ups at the moment.
  21. Hey death, Do as much research as you can before you make a decision. before you get your armor I would advise you make a list of all the materials you will need to build your armor. Doing that will clear a lot of time running out to get something wile your building. There is so much info on these boards is sickening.
  22. It's ok to cut just cut the back peice, you'll want the ab and back to line up, Remeber to have the back line up with the butt aswell. It'll be easier to do the rivits if your goin for the clam shell. Do a search for snap system. There's a post some where that shows a good way to set tht up, and it'll give you a good idea on how to trim the ab and back. If you need to heat up anything do it before you glue and paint. One more peice of advice, its stupid advice but a mistake that I did. Test fit with the body suit on not your regular cloths. Mesurements were way off AFTER I glued my thigh peices hehe. I hope I'm giving sound advice, not as experenced as alot of members here your doing well so far keep it up and keep posting pics!
  23. I would recomend to use a snap system instead of Velcro. http://www.tonybarnett.plus.com/snaps.html you might need to use a tiny bit of Velcro for attaching the back and front peice together. I have two Velcro strips on the sides that reach out to each peice just so it dosnt flap up or anything. There's also a post around here that shows some really great snap systems just can't remember where it is.
  24. I had to do the same thing with mine. They didn't fit right untill I squeezed them in so yeah that's fine, all you hve to do after is glue a strip of abs on the front and back seam and your golden
  25. dont show that to any animal activists heh it looks pretty real wow! lol wonder how it tastes
