Gos's ATA Armor Build![*ATA]
GosHawk replied to GosHawk's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
yeah I tilted it forward a bit and it looked better. So I did the test fitting and marked where I need to trim......I'm really REALLY skinny so I have to do quite a bit of it. Foam will probably be my best friend in the coming weeks. -
Gos's ATA Armor Build![*ATA]
GosHawk replied to GosHawk's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Question: I'm probibly going to start on the actual armor today. From my weak test fits of me just holding the thigh prices togeter I might need to trim. How/where would I trim? I'm afraid I might need to trim alot. -
Blacking out the inside of your helmet.
GosHawk replied to nothingrecorded's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
blacking out the inside of your helm makes it so people can not see your eyes through the lenses and it makes it harder for kids to look up into your helm. I Just did two coats of Plastic Underlining in my helm today and I must say its a dream spray lol, makes the helm more sturdy and look way awesome lol! I bought it at auto zone it was about 7 bucks and well worth it. I did however under estimate the power of the spray and managed to totally rubberize my index finger wile trying to hold the helm haha. -
OMG I have chosen my armour!
GosHawk replied to grungie_42's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
great choice man, that was my first pick as well but due to budget reasons I went with ATA......post pics! -
A friend just told me about plumbers epoxy. Not sure if that's the same thing as bondo. You just kneed the the two parts together and it drys rather fast but you can grind, sand, power tool it up it's some strong stuff according to what my friend said.

Gos's ATA Armor Build![*ATA]
GosHawk replied to GosHawk's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Small update. Haven't gotten the new set of ears yet but looks good I think. Lighting's making it look yellow. Does it look like I need to trim the bottom of the back cap? Im not to worried about the gap, the ears should cover it up and Im also going to glue some extra HIPS back there. And the hole on the side of the face plate will also get fixed. I might need to sad down the teeth a bit more but I like it so far. Comments? -
I've been looking all over to see why you glued inner strips of spare ABS to the inside of the armor. can you tell me why? is it necessary to do that in order to make it fit better?

Gos's ATA Armor Build![*ATA]
GosHawk replied to GosHawk's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
yeah I came to that conclusion earlier today. I want to take more pics but every time Im working on it, it totally slips my mind. last thing I did was trim out the eyes and teeth of the bucket. I made a mistake and cut out the 5th hole on each side....ok so thats two mistakes so far, Im keeping a tally. Anyone have any good ideas on how to repair it? My dad and I came up with the idea of gluing some bits of plastic on the back and filling the hole with caulk. More questions! How would I reinforce the plastic, the eye sockets are a bit shabby and I'm afraid of breaking it. Im going to hopefully get the face attached to the back cap tomorrow I'll try and remember to take pics. -

Gos's ATA Armor Build![*ATA]
GosHawk replied to GosHawk's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
well since this is my first set of armor I really don't have any comparison to anything else. I must say that the armor is thicker then I thought it would be. Also its not as dull grayish as I thought, it almost looks like I can just polish it up really good. -
Bought an ATA helmet, need some advice
GosHawk replied to krudler's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
this is the tutorial I'm using for my ATA bucket. ----- as far as paint goes, ----- check that out. I'm going with something different with my helm, I'm going to be using wet 'n dry sanding then polishing it. It'll have more of a dull look to it since mine is going to be a sand trooper. this thread talks about the different supplies you'll need. ----- hope this helps and have fun! -
The only thing that could get me outa bed that fast was the beautiful ring of my phone. It was my dad letting me know my armor was delivered to their house. So here it is! The Glory! This is gonna be a blast to paint! So I've just started to pencil in the lines to where I want to cut. I must admit since this is my very first armor build I am a bit over whelmed. Trimming everything down seems like the best thing to start with. Um so that's all I have for now. I will post more as this project gets moving. Don't worry, there will also be questions heh

Hey all, Since I have been trying to sell some of my things. I've been contacted by a few people in Australia, I usualy try to ship fedex but their shipping is close to $70. USPS is about $40 for the 6-10 day delivery. These shipping costs are really high and lost a sale due to it. Does anyone know a cheaper way of sending packages over seas?

paint durabilty and why oh why!
GosHawk replied to Dargas's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Check out my post on the mepd forums. Billy had told me about wet dry sanding then polishing it. From what I saw it looked pretty good. Granted this topic was more focused on weathering a td, but still... http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=5687 -
You might want to keep checking for for sale forums, look through past posts I'm sure you'll find something

oh very smexy! did the helm come unpainted or did you have to do that your self? I don't mean the detail work like the teeth or the ears, just the helmet.
