  1. Hmmm... fighting electrical tape around the teeth sounds like a nightmare to me. I would think painting would be much easier. Plus you would not have to worry about the tape coming off due to high humidity. If I was going to tape anything, I would tape off the rest of the helmet with painter's tape and spray paint the frown. Personally I have a good quality brush that I am going to use to paint the frown by hand.
  2. Looking good man! I've got to get the decals for my ATA ordered, those look terrific!
  3. Chris has the same idea I do. I want to make sure I "look" like I came off the set, but I want the armor to be more comfortable than be 100% accurate. I want someone to say "That is a great looking trooper!" Rather than saying "Hey? You know it looks like your paint is chipping?" Kudos for the guys that have gone all out and reproduced the chipped paint and HDPE color showing through, but that is not for me. Maybe in the future when I want something to display in my office. But for trooping I want a suit that looks like we just got dropped planet side to enforce the empire's will. Scratches and smudges will be ok, as I do not think the quartermaster is going to issue a replacement just because some little teddy bear whacked me with a pointed stick
  4. I just bought mine through a US reseller Squadron.com use the drop down on manufacturer and the first page for Humbrol will have the paint you need, Number 21 Black (HU021), Number 5 Dark Admiral Grey (HU005) and Number 14 French Blue (HU014) $2 a can, plus shipping. So for me I have $14 in this order.
  5. Thanks TKDUEUNO! I can't believe that the midnight blue looks blacker than your gloves! Atleast I haven't ordered my paint yet.
  6. found this on the site, helps greatly Paint Colors
  7. Ok, I'm going over my ATA armor and the only part that looks wonky to me is the TD endcaps. I know I need to trim them down (they are like 3 inches deep), but how much? From looking at pictures of EIB's and their TD, it appears to me they are about an inch deep. Meaning they are showing an inch of plastic around the grey tube. Does that sound right?
  8. YES! Do not be in a hurry to get a suit. Read, read, read and ask questions. Join your local garrison. Attend an event as a squire so you can see suits up close and personal. Then make an informed decision about what you want. Don't get suckered into paying $1,000 on ebay for something that is of poor quality. I lurked here and Garison Carida's website for months before I became a member. Now I've been a member for a few months, I have just finally placed an order for my suit. Anxiously awaiting delivery!
  9. And now we know why TK-421 had comlink problems
  10. LOL, ok I'll bite.... The Empire did not know about the droids until they found a washer in the desert, so they never took possession of the droids to make them "property". Poor Greedo was not defenseless. He did have a blaster drawn and pointed at Han Now I can't argue with the rest. I have the worst feeling that TK 421 was completely forgotten about until Chewie finally got to make repairs to the falcon on Hoth.
  11. You know, if this guy got suckered into buying it thinking it was the "real deal" then I feel sorry for him. You would have to be half blind to think this looks anything close to what was used in the movie. Sometimes I wonder if we should call these guys out on ebay. Probably would just get our accounts banned lol.
  12. Hmmm wonder if R2Dan would like a challenge? Find a nice non-latex to cast with? The run may be limited, but if you think about the chances of coming into contact with a child with latex allegies... It might be worth switching if the option was available. I still have to wonder how much risk there is if paint over the latex guards. May have to go look at some of the allergy forums and see if anyone has experience with it.
  13. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a set as they have to be more comfortable on the back of the hand than the ABS. I'm just wondering if someone made them out of a non-latex rubber or flexible plastic (think gummy flexible stuff you get out of the .25 cent vending machines) if that would work?
  14. My only problem if they made this change would be that I would have to use another type of rubber than latex. If there is any chance of my wife or someone else that is allergic to latex coming in contact with my hand guard and reacting to it, then it is a no go for me. I know it would have to be painted to match my suit, but I'm not sure that would be enough protection for someone with a severe latex allergy?
  15. Hehe, can't wait to get mine... Entire suit coming my way
  16. Wow! Being new here and reading some of the "history" threads and thinking "what the H!" it is good to see a decent, civil and appropriate conversation. Kudos guys!

  18. Mark, lol no worries about being fussy.... If the armor is off on color, you will need to paint it. When you Frankenstein pieces together, you are going to end up with somethings glossier than others. Take your time on the build and paint all the items with the same paint and it will match wonderfully.
  19. Absolutely gorgeous! I've been debating what armor to get and trying to track down where to order from to make an "informed" decision (so I can sell the wife on the idea of putting lots of money into plastic lol). These images may have just sold me lol! Whom do I contact to get on the waiting list?
