  1. I was a complete novice, and it took me 5 days to cut my AP and something around 10 days to glue it ANH style. Putting all the snaps took another week. And I took my time to do it, without hurrying it. So it can be done in less time by someone without any experience. And if you use the time you're waiting for your armor to arrive to get the other things you need, you'll be ready in no time. Just plan it and put some time on it. Having the help of someone with experience from your garrison will help a lot and speed up the whole process.
  2. Glad to hear that. Mark is a very nice fellow. He just has a lot of work sometimes! And without a proper explanation and some pictures he may not be able to understand what's your problem. In your case, I think that maybe the part was stacked on top of another one while hot, and it got the ghosting. Or it may be that it formed bad the first time, so it was re-heated and re formed. If done quickly it shouldn't leave marks, but it may sometimes. Don't really know, pure speculation based on my experience with thermo-plastics. But glad to hear you'll get a new kit.
  3. As far as I know, AP only comes in one style. You can detail it with hero painting and bubbled lenses, but no specific hero parts on the helmet. Someone with up to date information? BTW: I believe ArsonSmith is active on the MEPD forums...
  4. riveting + JoeR = AWESOMENESS! Great build thread. Will follow it with a lot of interest.
  5. We have 2 more EIB candidates at the Spanish Garrison. We wish to be 8 by year's end. And I'll try to get the future members (we had like 4 or 5 new applications recently) to build their armor to EIB standards.
  6. BTW: riveting was the one who told me about the gel. Thanks A lot!
  7. Lucasfilm sued AA both in the States and the UK. They won in the States and got a mixed sentence in the UK. So he can keep selling armor, but not to the USA.
  8. Well, in my case, after a bit of fine adjustment, I just adapted the helmet to the ears a bit using a hair dryer, and not the other way around.
  9. I've got a Battle Spec (which I'm selling, btw) and it is wonky: I affectionately call it "the wonky monkey"
  10. Just rub some B&W newspaper on your armor if you want to speed up the "lived in" look. (Got this tip from stukatrooper).
  11. It's not acetate actually, it's basic green gel used in theatre and film lightning. Known brands are Rosco or Lee. Google it. The gel is dark enough that in most pictures your eyes are not seen. Only in a direct, frontal picture taken very close with flash pointing at your eyes can you see them. The gel is a bit flimsy, though. Cheers.
  12. Amen brother! Pay to troop? I'd rather spend the money on toys for kids in a hospital. If all that's offered to me was paying to troop, I'll just go to hospital missions and skip the rest. Or leave the 501st altogether. I'm into all of this for the kids. It's nice being offered hotels, meals and plane tickets, but I'm sure I'll not attend an event if they just offer that. I don't want money being spent on me, I want them to donate for kids in hospitals. And I'm very serious about that. I made 11 missions in the last 6 month just to collect donations for the children in hospitals we're going to visit this friday and saturday. And I want my time and effort being spent on them. Not a silly convention. Sorry, but I think is a terrible idea. Again, if you have money to spend, spend it on the kids.
  13. Hi Joseph! Remember I need an action shot for your EIB profile picture. Or I can use the first picture. As you wish. Cheers.
  14. Ha, ha! Yes, it's true. You first made the one for Conny and then your double EIB. BTW, Carlos: have you settled on an action shot for your profile? I'd like to update the ones missing. Cheers.
  15. Congrats Mathias! Are you going to submit an action shot or should I use the one with the helmet on? Cheers.
  16. Congrats mate! Well deserved. To be honest, I've not done much. Most of the SG troopers wear AP, and with minor modifications they're ready for EIB. Carlos went for EIB from the begining, and it shows. The same with Rich, he just came and pulled 2 EIB's in a row without giving us time to react! I just pestered them a little, but the rest is all theirs. And I hope they keep coming. It's our little contribution to the detachment. (We'll get those sandguys soon... ) Cheers.
  17. Hi Shaun. First of all: congrats! Nice work! If you have an "Action" shot, the better for me. Remember to follow the guidelines, and look on existing profiles for inspiration. Cheers.
  18. Since I regularly access the forums using my smartphone, I was a bit surprized when I got to the FISD and found out there's a version specifically designed for smartphone users. I also found out that there's a complementary iPhone app for Invision boards too! Kudos to the software company for keeping up to date with hardware trends and adding the needed smartphone version. And I'm glad this software is used for the FISD, as it improves the experience for smartphone users a great deal. Cheers.
  19. Awesome Carlos! I hope you're our 6th EIB. Cheers mate.
  20. Simplemente quería informaros que hemos abierto un nuevo foro en La Spanish Garrison dedicado al nivel Experto del FISD y a los programas "Elite" de otros destacamentos.
