  1. On a practical note: wouldn't that be a burden to have your blaster tethered to you the whole time via the audio cord? I know I'll frequently let little kids hold my gun, or let an adult pose with it for a picture, I can only imagine I wouldn't be able to share it anymore if it were hooked up to me with a cord. Just thinking out loud...
  2. I think I know what's going on: the filter on our computer restricts images being hosted on Flicker accounts, so those threads are not showing the photos and only the 'alt' tag wording of "Posted image". sorry all!
  3. Hey, I am wondering it anyone is getting the words "posted image" instead of actually seeing a photo posted in a thread. I am logged in and am seeing most photos in the threads, but as of a few days ago, I'll randomly won't see the images, just the words "posted image". Any ideas?
  4. Here is a pic of the underside of my chest piece. You can see the snaps glued directly on.
  5. I have FX armor and no longer have that problem. I am using an MRCE helmet and my strapping system was causing my armor to rise up into my helmet. Originally I had my shoulder bell straps snapping into the strap going over my shoulder to connect my chest and back pieces. I was then velco-ing the ribbed, white plastic shoulder pieces on top of that. The problem happened when I would wear it, the weight of my arms in the shoulder bells would pull up on the shoulder straps, thus making my chest and back pieces rise up into my helmet. A garrison member told me how to fix it: instead of velcro-ing the white shoulder pieces on, I glued the front of them directly onto the chest piece. Then, I glued a snap into the underside of the white plastic shoulder straps, which the shoulder bells would snap into. Doing this took the weight off of the black straps and kept everything from getting raised up.
  6. Amazing build and it fits you like a glove! Congrats and great job!
  7. We are talking about two different types of UnderArmor logos: some of the shirts have an embroidered UA logo stitched in white thread on the neck. Some of the shirts and leggings have a printed on (often reflective) UA logo on the chest or upper thigh. I've got the printed kind and have taken a black Sharpie marker to it, but yes, you can still see it to some degree. Wished they just peeled off like a sticker... <_<
  8. I keep my Caboots in their own grocery bag within my armor tote to help contain the smell. The problem lies in the fact that it's not the leather uppers that smell, but rather the sole of the shoe, so I don't know what good it will do to stick sweet smelling things inside the boot.
  9. Hi Ben, well for starters you're going to need a completely new helmet. The Rubies helmet is not 501st approved.
  10. Good call on taking them back, the soles looked pretty thin for trooping in.

    I'm in!

    congratulations!!!!
  12. Wow, you did a good job with that!
  13. How exciting! Don't get too overwhelmed, just go one piece at a time. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!
  14. Looking great, you should be really proud of how it turned out!
  15. Great job on your build, you look great in it. Congrats on EIB as well!
  16. Wow, that looks great, and I love your helmet collection as well.
  17. Looks awesome! More full body pics please!
  18. Here are some newer ones my kids are now using: "sick" = amazing, very good. Example: "Wow, check out that sweet sports car, that's sick!" "tight" = very nice, impressive, well done. Example: "Ah, that song was tight!"

I live in an area with a very active garrison and in fact have other active garrison members just a mile away, and I still got plenty of weird looks from the people at the craft and leather store when I explained what I was making. My neighbors are mixed with how they feel about it, some laugh and think it's silly, others admire me for doing charity work, and yes, the hunting and fishing guy next door pretends to act interested, but I can tell he's not digging it! That being said, I'm guessing your dislike for your present location existed before you got into assembling your armor, this project has just magnified the feelings you already had.
  20. It's gorgeous! Question: the helmet is already assembled, did you pay extra for that?
  21. Good, "Hiatus" is better than "gone for good"!
  22. Just wondering if the Gallery has moved, disappeared or is on hiatus until later?
  23. Wow, looks awesome!
  24. Very well done, I agree that the weathering looks very nice - worn, but not over done.
  25. I store mine in a big plastic tot that I got at Walmart for $7.00! Everything fits perfectly. The only downside is that the tot doesn't have wheels on the back like some do, so I bought a luggage dolly for about $28 at Staples to haul it around. I had to get the smaller sized tot so that it would fit in the back of the small trunk of my car.
