  1. I say give em a shot. Paint em white and try to get that stitching on the sole black.
  2. Congrats! Wow, That's like 4 new EIBs over this last weekend. We are on a "hot" streak. AWESOME!!
  3. That was an awesome costume. Reminds me of how puppeters operate Big Bird.
  4. Guess I should have delayed my request. I wanted to be #100! But I'm #99. Just kidding Honored to be a part of the "Elite".
  5. This Daniel Delacruz, TK4559, from the Central California Garrison requesting ESB EIB status:
  6. I made my own belt from canvas. I sewed velcro on the ends to hold it together. Similar to firebladejedi's method. Check his tutorial in the how-to section.
  7. Thanks for the support guys. I'm "officially" a TK in the 501st! I put the D-ring on my blaster earlier this morning. EIB hopefully very soon.
  8. I took some more shots a little while ago. Finished the helmet tonight. Picked up pinstripe tape for around the ears. I also made some loops for the holster to convert it to ESB style.
  9. Here's from urbandictionary.com "hecka: Word used by young children in NorCal (mostly bay are i.e San Fransisco, oakland, dublin, pleasenton, livermore etc.) before they are old enough to use hella without getting in touble. Your hecka stupid! This hecka sucks monkey butt!" Yeah, I personally dislike the word but honestly do catch myself one rare occasions using it. Mostly when talking to young people.
  10. E-6000 is flexible. I was in a rush to finish the strapping for my armor and instead of sewing velcro to webbing I glued it with E-6000. It made a strong bond and is flexible.
  11. Thought I'd finally put up some full shots of my armor (so far). Hopefully with the day off tomorrow I can finish the helmet and thermal detonator. It feels good!
  12. I'll be sure to post up pictures of me in the whole TX. The ATA is almost done. Still have to put together the thermal detonator and attach the drop boxes to the belt. I'm redoing the bottom screw placement on the helmets ears. I didn't like where I initially put them. They were too close to the bottom opening.
  13. Celebrating my anniversary with the 501st (joined March 2009) I finally upgraded my FX helmet. HUGE difference. I'm SO happy to not look like a bobble head anymore. I'm still deciding if the old FX will go up for sale.
  14. I placed some of the loop part of velcro where you have your tabs. The velcro would be 'flexible' as opposed to plastic tabs.
  15. I built my ATA and it is a great kit. On my leg pieces I went 7/8 inches on the front and back of the thighs, as well as the front of the shins and 1 inch on the backs of the calves. It all depends on your physical built too. If you have "big" legs you're gonna HAVE TO have wider strips for your legs, arms, etc. Naatsirhc does have a great build thread. I used his as well as missingpieces'.
  16. Wish I could help you. You're like on the border of two garrisons, Golden Gate & Central Cali. Hop on I-80 and head west, quite a few of us are around and in Sacramento. Join our local forum if you haven't already Central California Garrison upcoming troops will be posted up there.
  17. Cool pictures. Tks look good in the snow.
  18. Is it a one time payment or monthly? I couldn't tell by reading that section.
  19. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it is good! Getting er done. I wanna have this build done by the 20th. Our Garrison was invited to a comic book store grand opening and it would be great to have this armor done by then. Last night I painted the helmet. Overall, came out good. A few spots with some overspray. I could buff/polish those spots smooth once I pick up some tack cloths. I sprayed it in the garage then brought it inside to dry in the extra bathroom. I brought in a small portable heater and made a nice little curing/drying "booth" Worked out really well. Finished the mic tips. Used a 12mm socket to bend the ends of the mesh. Mic tips installed and brow trim placed to check my progress. ATA helmet and CAP TX helmet. I had time to prime the TX. Working on two helmets now.
  20. At San Diego Comic Con, I held my keys, wallet & camera all in my helmet. I stuck velcro on the backs of all of em and they all held up throughout the day. I just discovered the blaster holsters with the pockets. I think I'm gonna mod my holster to do that.
  21. Finally, my hyperfirm E-11 is here. I threw it across the living room . . . not a scratch It was a fun day for receiving packages. My CAP TX helmet arrived too, assembled. Gonna say goodbye to the FX version pretty soon.
