  1. A couple shots of my completed TX armor upgrade. CAP W & FX black armor. I'm looking forward to my upcoming appearance at Comic Con 2010 in two weeks. *Sorry for the crooked shots. Its a challenge to take pictures by yourself without the aid of a tripod
  2. what's going on here?
  3. I wanna say I did two coats on top of a primer.
  4. Here's a piece I was working on. Rustoleum gloss black. wet sanded with 1500 grit then worked up from 3200 to 6000 grit then polished with Meguiar's Scratch X polishing compound. It takes time to get a mirror/ABS-like finish but its worth it.
  5. trim it. Trim half of that overlap on each of the sides and the ends should meet, with out having that huge over lap.
  6. Sorry bud, but that's too much trimming on the ears. It would be best to get a new set.
  7. That's right it is I remember that one TK running down the hall and holding his helmet with one hand
  8. Yes. It said "Drop boxes should be closed in back" not must
  9. Well, to answer your 2nd question there. YES, ATA is EIB passable. I did it with one.
  10. I don't know if this has already been discussed elsewhere but I just finished watching Return of the Jedi and I noticed Stormtrooper helmets (& armor) from the previous two movies in it. I wish I had some screen shots of what I saw but bear with me. The first scene that came to my attention is when the super class star destroyer falls into the Death Star. The scene has Tie Pilots & Stormtroopers running in panic inside the halls of the Death Star. Look closely at the Stormtroopers. Those aren't ROTJ TKs. They clearly have the angular hand guards, teeth only painted frowns & their boots don't have the white soles like the ROTJ TKs have. The next scene is the Ewok celebration. Look at the TK buckets that an Ewok is using as a "drum set". Those look like ESB TK helmets. I checked both Special Edition and the Original Edition of ROTJ and both scenes are the same in each version. So this is different than how those ROTJ TDs got put into Episode IV. Again, if this has been discussed already I'm sorry. I tried searching for an earlier posts.
  11. I have not seen anyone on this forum admit to buying and putting together one of these kits. MOT has been selling these kits on ebay for quite awhile now. I like how he pretty much admits its a recast, "cast from the well known T*E suit of armor" "Is it real?" In the past folks were selling their Stormtrooper armor from the Star Wars Galaxy RPGMMO on ebay. THAT armor wasn't "real"
  12. All together now. left to right-ATA ESB, TX CAP-w, ANH AP
  13. (sorry no white helmet pictures, but you get the idea) FX helmet next to TE(style) helmet big difference. I just built an AP and i can barely fit my head in and out of it. My cap size is 7 1/8.
  14. Yeah I know I need to edit the topic title. I was planning on doing a hero but got carried away when I started cutting the frown. Oh well, looks like I'll just have to buy another helmet and finally do a Hero
  15. Haha. Thanks Chris . . .back to my build thread. Anyways, these things are great. These cloths helped me get the great shine on the armor. I'm gonna have some real work to do on the chest piece. It has some areas affected with 'orange peel'.
  16. Armor maker: ATA Height: 5'7" Weight: 130LBS Chest: 38" Abs: 34" did you use shims? NO Waist: 30" Thighs: 21" did you use shims?NO Biceps: 13" did you use shims?NO Forearm: 11" did you use shims?NO Any other mod? My torso is shorter than most other stormtroopers, I heated and shaped the chest armor to curve more over my shoulders so that the details in the ab section won't be hidden by my chest piece.
  17. I like it. That info is VERY helpful for those new to armor building and those looking to buy armor.
  18. Also some people glue the snap to a spare piece of plastic first then attach that piece to the armor piece. Extra piece of plastic between the snap and armor.
  19. No but I can move like this
  20. I've trimmed off whatever extra flashing was on the parts. I've already started painting the shoulder bells. I started out wet sanding the finish with 600 grit and worked up to 6000 grit. Here you can see the armor after I finished it with a 6000 grit micro polishing cloth. I polished up the paint with some Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 fine scratch remover. Does it look like an ABS finish? Its getting there. Here's the shoulder piece next to the current FX ab piece. Looks like a good match. I can't wait till this is all done and I can take a picture with the full armor and helmet.
  21. Yeah, we'll help you find what info you're looking for BUT please do introduce yourself
  22. These are great kits Mark, regardless if they're "2nds". thumbs up for ABS armor & helmets.
  23. The build has gone by smoothly. I was surprised how useful the "premade" holes for the face and cap/back actually lined up the pieces pretty well (almost). I did pick up some 'accurate' HOVI MICs that still need to be painted and fitted with screen.
  24. Yes. On the 501st forum there was a run of 2010 calendars. That was back in October. I'll expect a 2011 run to pop up around the same time this year.
  25. Looks like you maybe up to par for EIB approval on this forum along with getting approved for 501st. Well done with the armor.
