Holster question for elite
TK 6918 replied to Tiepilot1138's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
For ANH, you'd have to cut the front part of the straps. You can use snaps or rivets to attach the holster to the belt. -
Have you tried fabric dye? i think it would work better than leather dye. Worst comes to worst, you could replace the side elastic with white altogether.

To cut or not to cut....
TK 6918 replied to 89Batman's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Try a combination of trimming with a bit of reshaping using a heat gun. It may conform to your leg better which may eliminate the need to cut. -
Dremel does melt the plastic and makes it stink, but you can use it to get the rough cuts out of the way. I have gotten good enough with a dremel to trim the armor where I want to, and then simply sand off the edges. I don't recommend it though. If you use the "cutting blade" it can and will break in use and spread out like shrapnel I normally use the abrasive stones with a point on it. ----------

I have shims on my legs. First if the leg armor almost fits you, you could heat up the armor using a heat gun and bend it to fit your legs better. If you need more room, then you would use spare plastic and add it in the back of the leg armor. You can either glue it, or rivet it in place. The spare plastic will need to be heated up a bit and bent into the proper shape for it to hold well.

FX helmet build questions[*FX]
TK 6918 replied to gjw's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
The more armor you build, the better you get at it too! If your good at painting and masking, paint the interior of your helmet black, it will make the lenses look darker, and when you take off your helmet, it looks more real. -
FX helmet build questions[*FX]
TK 6918 replied to gjw's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
The FX helmet should be symmetrical, if it isn't, you might have a recast of some sort. Concentrate on aligning the front first. I've helped assemble an FX recast and it was indeed not shaped right, so we riveted the dome to the front first, aligning it with the trapezoids. Then we heated the dome (using a heat gun) a bit to shape it to fit with the back, and used rivets as well. We were able to hide the rivets with the brow, but the back ones show. I have my brow extended around the ears, as it seems to look nicer. I wouldn't worry about accuracy on an FX too much. If you want accuracy, you would have to replace everything including the helmet itself. (lenses, decals, hovi tips, trim, ...etc) The second trooper from the right shows an example of the brow going around the ear. -
For me the front ab split made a huge different in comfort. It wasn't about being able to pee. I'm now also able to sit. If you do split the front, attach it in the center, not on the ends, to allow for the cod piece to move better.

ANH Stunt ears and 501st/elite acceptance
TK 6918 replied to Tiepilot1138's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
As far as I know, it "should have" but isn't a "must have" -
I may want to give this amp a try if the speaker that comes with the rom/fx isn't loud enough for my needs

Hey Bryan, I am not familiar with that problem, have you tried changing the batteries to new ones? Your best bet is to email Hyperdyne labs and ask about the issue. I'm sure he can assist you in fixing it or replacing it if you purchased it directly from him.
-
I'm also waiting for the ROM FX from the current produced batch. However, I told John not to mail it yet as I'm currently on vacation, away from my mailing address.
-
Is this a bragging, informative, or for sale thread? I'm confused. Either way, it's not supposed to reset settings: "One additional thing to note is that all the settings are saved even if you switch the unit off and remove the batteries." Check with John (romfx.com) and see if there is a way to fix the problem. Attached below, are the instructions for the Rom FX --------

We can't push the burden to a select team. Everyone helps however they want or can. Not only do we have different armor types, we all have different ways of assembling them. The best thing to do, is to do research, perhaps ask a few questions, and assemble it with a group of 501st members that are local to that person. All information is already grouped up in categories for easy browsing.

As long as you have padding, it should hold your helmet on your head well, without giving the bobble-head effect. I wouldn't use the chin strap, so its easier to take off and put the helmet back on.

nice, does it fit FX helmets? I keep dropping my bucket. Hopefully it will break one of these days so I can get an excuse to upgrade

It happens when you don't do your homework I guess PenPen: if you want to stick with that bucket, don't worry there's plenty of us who will help you out

TK-1098 ANH Stunt Elite Status Request
TK 6918 replied to dorsk88's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Here's what I found: The rear armor split is supposed to be BELOW the belt. The stripe decals on the side of the helmet looks a little bit too low. Although the following is not a requirement, I highly suggest it as it would help improve your overall appearance: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=3938 Also the drop boxes should be spread apart, further, by the edges of the plastic belt, and brought a bit higher so that it doesn't show much of the white strapping. Other than that I think your armor looks top notch! I wish I was that skinny -
I only polish if there is a high profile event, or if I have some scuffs in my armor. Novus is the good stuff!
