  1. Man, if only I could get Kaley Cuoco to do a guest appearance at my house!! Now THAT would be amazing!! But yeah, I've often wondered about them having 501sters on there. But there is all that SAG stuff so probably never happen. Did you see the one where they went to the New Year's Eve party at the comic book shop? There was a stormtrooper there but his suit was godawful!!
  2. Well, I'm sure there are purists who will hate it (there always are). And I'm not really sure about the clearance issue but I say go for it. Over the years I've tweaked my armor to what suits me best. I have tried to make mine as comfortable as possible for ME.. I'm the one who wears it and I like it the way I've got it. As long as it looks good it'll probably pass 501st clearance. That's all I've ever cared about. Once you get that do whatever you want as long as it's not TOO much. I've seen many many mixed and matched TK suits. I've been in the 501st since 2006 and I've never heard of having to get your armor re-evaluated. Do what works for you. As long as you are not going for EIB or all that Centurian stuff do what you like. Who cares what the purists think?
  3. Can anyone give me any info or links where to get this VOX setup? I have all the AKER stuff for a wireless unit with PTT switch, but I haven't installed it. I just really don't want to have to fool with the PTT switch. Can the VOX be wireless? I don't want a wire running from my helmet to my chest mounted speaker. Seems like everybody I have seem with that doesn't care for it as it's hard to remove your helmet while trooping.
  4. Greatest show ever!!!! I DVR all of them. Pretty much every Sunday is just a Big Bang marathon for me. I never get tired of it.
  5. You forgot the twelve pack of beer!!!
  6. I just got a new pair, also. I bought them because of the "higher up" ankles, as I was having a problem with my calf pieces coming up over the tops of my last pair. The top part does indeed feel a little looser than the old ones. But I wear an 8 and 1/2 so my 9s have always been a little loose. But once I switched out the thick gel inserts I had in my old ones and put on my usual 2 pair of socks, they seemed about the same fit as my older ones. I did a test run by just putting on the calves and walking around in them for awhile. Seems about the same. But, having a shoe size with a "1/2" in it, between Caboots and TKboots I've never gotten a "perfect" fit. Man, why couldn't Stormtroopers have just worn sneakers?
  7. I finally abandoned this idea also.
  8. Hhhhm I assume that doing any of those processes on that link, you are going to lose your gloss. I have one of the MRC helmets and I am noticing that ONLY the back plate of the helmet is starting to yellow. It IS on a stand but it is not near a window or heating or cooling vent. I can't imagine why only the back piece is yellowing.
  9. I have a pair of tkboots from the first run--the ones that were not as tall as the new ones. Recently I had a troop that involved a lot of walking up and down stairs and experienced a lot of "calf ride up". Being in the armor it was extremely difficult to bend down to fix this...Do the new taller ones solve this problem? I've put in an order for some 9s, but they are telling me three or more weeks and I've got a big troop coming up at the end of March. The other day I tried putting velcro on the top of the boot and inside the bottom of the calves. But you have no idea how rigid this makes your ankles--really not good. Any advice?
  10. Okay, thanks for the advice guys.
  11. I am currently doing some mods to my armor's shoulder straps and I need to remove some industrial strength velcro. I am planning to use goo gone on it but am worried that if it gets anywhere it's not supposed to be--will it remove the gloss? I have the old FX armor.
  12. I too, may have to invest in these. I just recently did a long troop where we had to do a lot of going up and down stairs. EVERYTIME I went up or down the stairs my calves popped up over my boots. At first I did not know this was happening but I noticed I kept getting "knee Pinches" really bad! I kept thinking my thighs were falling down. I finally realized it wasn't my thighs being low--it was my calves being too high. Of course being in armor I could not bend over to fix it and our changing area was UPSTAIRS!! So I would go upsatirs, remove enough armor to pull down the calves--BUT then I had to venture down the stairs again!! Same problem all over again.. I mean it was the Kobiyashi Maru all over again!! I've been thinking of either trying to fix some kind of stirrup (sp?) in my calf armor for my feet or trying someway to velcro my calf armor to my boots. Do these new boots solve this problem?
  13. Well, If I'm gonna pay for those--I might as well keep using the contacts. The whole point of me doing this was to NOT spend anymore money.
  14. Well, while just trying to put my helmet on with a pair of my old glasses--I broke the frames.....I guess worrying about messing up an old pair of glasses is academic now. The lenses pop right out of the frame also. I guess I'm commited to this idea now. But how to attach them? If I could make this work it would be awesome. I could save a few hundred dollars a year on contacts. Help me out guys!!!
  15. I do have contacts. But over the past few years I've pretty much quit wearing them. There's just too much dirt and dust where I work so I can't wear them there. My regular glasses tint dark when outside so I don't need contacts while driving anymore (to wear sunglasses). Nowadays I only keep the prescription for trooping. I was thinking of trying someway to attach a set of my old prescription lenses to the inside of my bucket lenses. My bucket is pretty tight so the lenses wouldn't be but about a half inch or so from my eyes. Which would work but I'm not sure how you would attach them to the inside of the bucket lenses. My bucket lenses are pretty dark so I don't think you would be able to see them from outside the helmet. James, what exactly do you mean by elastic strip? I'm not talking out using the frames. Just the lenses. Any ideas?
  16. Hhhhmmmm, that's a good idea. I have a pair or two of old glasses. How do you figure you would glue them on?
  17. If it's really cold just wear long thermal underwear under your body suit. That's what I do on a real cold troop. I can deal with sweltering heat in my armor--yeah it's miserable, but I can deal with it. But cold I absolutely can not handle. If I was living waaay up north I would probably be trying to figure out some way to fleece line my armor!! :snowtrooper:
  18. I cannot sit down without either rotating the thighs or removing them completely. As for stairs, down is easier than up, but I really like having a handrail to hold on to. Can you imagine going down some stairs and falling in your armor? I imagine that would be pretty painful. I once did a troop at a symphony where we had to go down some stairs in the dark, with no handrails--AND they were not your standard size steps. Meaning each step was not about a standard 1 foot each. Each step was about 2 feet long. It was REALLY hard to calibrate it in your head, since you couldn't see the step, mostly just due to wearing the bucket but also because of the low lighting. Circular stairs or curving stairways are a pain also. God, why do we do this to ourselves??
  19. I've worn Nomex flight gloves for years now. I've never had mine bleed before. And my hands sweat profusely in the heat. Maybe it is because I've washed them many many times. But I don't remember any dye bleeds when I first got them....Strange
  20. Some Goo Gone maybe?
  21. I have actually driven in armor once. But only for a mile or so and it was on an almost deserted street. I did NOT wear the helmet though, that would really be stupid!! I also had to remove my thigh pieces to even sit down in the car.
  22. I have a MRCE and love it. Last helmet I will buy.
  23. While I was there back in 1980 at a premier--some way or other I already knew everything that was going to happen in it, pretty much. But I really, really, really didn't want to believe the Vader/father thing until I actually saw it.
  24. Good Lord, who drew those helmet pics? Looks melted!!
