Nice lid pics. Thanks for sharing. As has been mentioned before: If anyone else goes to this then please, please grab some pics of the cylinders on the mouse droid. Cheers. -
Armour marks - Any tips?
carbonitekid replied to nai-retep's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
And Novus is a cutting compound that will strip through the UV capping on ABS in no time. Try Mr Sheene mate. Silicone based, will not damage the armour and will not cause it to prematurely age like Vern's bad advice will. -
Firstly, as someone whom has had their entire kit stolen in the past.... my deepest comiserations. I know what your going through and , frankly, it aint nice. Now to the nitty gritty: 1/Were you there on an official troop to promote them? If so I would aproach them and inform them of said events " whilst promoting their franchise" and see if they are willing to help. 2/ This is why I ( nor any UKG member ) never leave my blaster in its holster. I know its not what you want to hear but....you would not leave a $100 bill within easy reach of the public, why do so with your multi $ blaster? \Sadly you have learned the lesson the hard way ( as I did by leaving my kit nearest to the public access ) . As for a replacement: as said before I would go for a doopy'y kit. Again, my deepest condolences for your loss.

Personally? I would avoid. The stuff he creates ( eventually ) is top notch but his lead times take the proverbial. All it will take is a few no shows and we will have another T*E on our hands. Not so. There are many fine makers of armour that create to order and deliver in short time frames, TM for example. Dan's biggest issue is an apparent lack of ability/willingness to a) answer emails and get his a very impolite person in gear. Communication and the most basic of courtesy towards those that have dropped many hundreds of £/$ for kit costs nothing but a few moments of your time. If you cannot or are not willing to spend five mins to keep your customers updated then you deserve the bad rep you invariably earn. A reputation that Dan Laws is rapidly earning.

There is another............. About 3 years ago the UKG did an event where there was a collection of "screen used" sci fi props. The collection was..........poo. Hasbro blasters unmodified passed off as the real thing and a wookie bag refered to as an original chewie head, I kid you not. By far the most interesting piece there was the "screen used" TK which, if memory serves , was a Marco. I will endeavour to dig some pics out .

90 pounds of armour
carbonitekid replied to Quebectrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Ooooooh! Nice!! And yet....... In the second pic I cant help but hear: " Gort. Klaatu Barada nikto." -
Just as he was warned, repeatedly, they would. Biggest ball ache of all was he wasn't even a 501st member!!

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7833&st=0&p=100302&hl=merugear&fromsearch=1entry100302 Please take note of how many times he was told : "Leave it! They will turn round and bite you! "

Thanks to a former member here (#cough#Merugear#cough#) and his persistant hounding of the Dutch authorities blaster, be they black sprayed toys or full on replicas , are now a major no go in Holland. Up until his actions a blind eye was turned.

As Jar-Jar Binks once said, "How Rude!"

Funny you should mention the UKG..... We have an ex member living in the UK but a member of the German Garrison if memory serves. Back to "Roy".... Sent him an email with links to this thread. -

Sorry, but this "Roy" bloke sounds like a total knob. This is the sort of behaviour that not only encourages others to see the 501st as Eliteist but also ensures the standards in some parts of the world never improve. How the hell are you supposed to gain the advice required ( no offence to det leaders ) to make a costume or, more to the point get to know fellow members in the area and decide if you even want to be a part of it!! With an attitude like his how many potential members have said: "Fudge him!! Fudge the 501st!!" ? Is the LCO aware of this situation? If not perhaps he should be made aware of it: [email protected] [email protected] Both email addys are out in public domain. -
Filling in my new job contract form. Finally in a decent non min wage job (with a 60% wage increase ) making Aston Martin , Porsche car body panels and prototype parts for a well known Italian sports car manufacturer. The Fourth has been strong for this one!!

Pics of my ANH Hero build (AM armor)

Yeah, I'd drop the biceps an inch or so. -
Just for those newer members not up to speed on SF productions: Poor quality recasts produced by a wanted peadophile: http://www.oocities.org/universalarmorer/scheuer_wanted.html

Where, What and Whom To Avoid When Buying
carbonitekid replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Yes. For the price of an unmodded Hasbro plus the resin kit to "accurise " it you could easily buy a complete resin kit from the same seller of said Hasbro resin mod kits. Why spend the same amount, if not more, on something inaccurate when for the same price you can get something far far better? -
And sadly the entire Legion council still takes the stance of " not getting involved"

Technically you missed Ainsworth/SDS/original Stormtrooper shop off the recast list. -
4. No swearing. Although word filters are active, don't try to get around it.

Can I get a quick clarification regarding the following please: "Ideally there should be no visible rivets or brads used to secure the sniper plate to the left greave." So does "Ideally " infer that they are ok but frowned upon, or a total no can do? I know this is Centurian not EIB and apologise for straying a tad off topic.

Chuck a handfull this way mate. This is hungry work.

Oh well, thats all right then. Coz AA never lies. You know, like claiming he sculpted the helmet and stealing credit from a dead woman who cannot defend herself. Which part of he did not win do you still fail to grasp?

Agreed! And why, Vern, did Ainsworth know nothing of the tear detail until he was baited with the information? Yet within days he had found a less cleaned up version of his mold ( funny, thought he was using his original) with a , poorly added, tear detail added.
