  1. I can't put my FX on without turning it to the side a little first. I hope my head isn't too big! I'm going to go measure it.... I hope no one sees me. HaHa. OK, I'm a 59.5cm or 23.25inch. I'm guessing that a TE2 might be a better option. (I am assuming that a MRCE is smaller than an AP and TE2????
  2. Help needed. A few months ago when I started looking around for armor, I decided that with my size, almost 6'2" that FX was going to be the best option. I'm very happy with my choice; however, I should have followed everyone’s advice and gone with the FX "lite" version without the helmet, strapping, etc. In the end, I didn't use anything that came with the kit. I used plastic welder, industrial Velcro, suspenders, etc. Now that I've got it all built. I'm very happy with it except for one thing. To quote Mike Myers in "So I Married an Axe Murderer" my head ..."looks like an orange on a toothpick". Don't get me wrong. It's not that bad. It actually looks pretty good. (I know that my back plate is slding down my a$$.... I've fixed that and lowered the Cod piece) But I want to improve on the look and make the helmet look a bit more accurate. I don't have a giant head, but it's not tiny either. A friend recommended RT-Mod helmet. I want to be able to have at least one fan and my WalMart Voice Changer/Aerator Speaker system in it too. (Sounds system takes up hardly any room.) I would also like to have at least a little room to breathe. I don't want to have my face pushed up against the front of the helmet. What would you guys recommend? I have spent a fortune on this hobby so far and my fiancée is probably going to kill me if a buy another item for this obsession. Lol. But I'm going for elite eventually and want it to look better.
  3. ^^^ I agree, it didn't give me any additional movement. BUT, I needed to lower the cod piece a bit since I'm 6 feet 2 and it was riding a bit high. See pic.
  4. I got mine at Home Depot. They are in the isle next to staples and rivets. IMHO they are better than the heavy duty ones at fabric stores... I haven't tried the Tandy leather one's though.
  5. Great tutorial. I made one this past weekend. Looks great. I'm having a hard time getting snapps to go through 2 layers of canvas, 2 layers or elastic, and a layer of ABS. I'm curently using some threadable posts. But I'm hopefully going to get the snaps to fit. VERY tight squeeze. Thanks again for you tutorial. Couldn't have done it without it!
  6. Thank you! I was about to attach the snaps in the same area last night, but decided to wait to make sure that I wasn't making a huge mistake. -I'll be adding the snaps tonight.
  7. OK, at the bottom of this page, ----- there was a good tutorial for cutting the cod piece. One more question though, is it OK to put a snap on the ab piece to keep the belt from sliding down? I didn't have aproblem with the belt slipping with the ABS belt because I had rubber attached to the back to keep it in place. But now, with the cod piece cut and canvas belt on, as soon as I put my E-11 in the holster, it starts sliding down my side.
  8. I would like to separate the cod piece from the Ab plate to allow for better mobility on my FX armor. Can someone post a pic for me to demonstrate exactly where I should separate the two pieces? Thank you so much!
  9. From what I've read, Lucas says that he had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the Holiday Special. -Yeah right.... When you see Bea Arthur singing lyrics to the "Cantina" song, you'll never again be the same person.
  10. I haven't seen the one on You Tube. I bought mine on the internet years ago. The person that put it together also included some of the commercials that were aired during the Special. There's even a commercial where C3PO catches R2 smoking a cigarette... hillarious. I also recall a commercial for the Kenner action figures.
  11. Lol, I knew that it looked weird!!! I have the much beloved "Holiday Special" on DVD. It is absolutely terrible. But, it is entertaining. I wonder if anyone would want a copy of it.
  12. Enjoy... I tried to get them as clear as possible, but it was kind of hard since they are so old.
  13. I've finally finished the inside of mine. I used the knee pads and part of the Hard Hat liner.
  14. Quick question about the speakers in the aerators.... When I installed mine, the screw to mount the aerators is right up against the the back of the speaker... Should I have insulated it or will it not make a difference?
  15. I just gutted a $5 walmart Voice Changer and wired it to (2) SR800RMS micro speakers that cost about $1.55 each. So I've got less than $10 in my vox system and let me tell you, it sounds awesome. (Looks like hell inside the helmet at the moment. -But I'll fix that). I have absolutely ZERO feedback with this setup. I followed Smittys instructions for rewiring the circuit board and improvised with getting the tiny speaker into my aerators. (but since you already have prewired hovi's, you're golden.) Anyone can do this. I had NO experience with a soldering iron before tonight and with the guidance of the great people on this forum, managed to get a great sounding vox system for very little money!
  16. Can someone show me how they put the little speakers into the FX Kit aerators? I bought the speakers, soldered the wires, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get them in the FX Aerators and reasseble it to screw it back on the helmet. Do I need to cut the insides down so that it fits or what? I could of course just leave the screw off of the Aerator and glue it to the helmet but that can't be right. Does anyone have an assembly pics? I would greatly appreciate it. I was so excited about puting this together today and now I'm stuck. Thank you!
  17. "Ooe" ? -what does that mean? I have an FX one at the moment which I like very much (even though FX's seem to get a lot of heat in the forums here). plenty of room for "toys" inside. I don't have a massive head or anything, but I'm 6'1" 175lbs so it works out OK.
  18. There is a guy on theBay that has sold 3 or 4 of the eFX's for $400. Isn't that about the smae price as the TE2?
  19. I've been looking around the forum trying to find your opinions on the eFX Helmet. Are these worth the high price? Can you essentially get the same helmet from customising the MRCE Helmet? I'm sorry if this has been addressed somewhere, but I did a search and came up with nothing. Thank you!
  20. I'd love to try out the Skullworx kit, but they never respond to any emails. I've sent Skullworx no less than 3 emails and no response. Oh well. I'm building mine out of the Walmart Voice Changer and SR800RMS's mounted in the Aerators. A lot cheaper, and might even be fun once I start.
  21. I ordered from them. Easy. It took about 2 weeks to get them in the mail from the UK ot the US.
  22. I would like to know too. I have sent a couple emails to the address on the website and I have never heard back from anyone.
  23. Beware of Krylon for Plastics!!!! I was putting the final coat of paint on my Hasbro E-11 and it ATE THROUGH EVERY COAT OF PAINT! It ate through two 3 coats of primer and took it all of the way back down to the plastic. It even started eating the resin conversion kit leaving a sticky nasty mess. Aweful stuff. I'm throwing it away and starting over. I'm so angry!
  24. Thanks, it's probably temperature.... It's about 40 degrees in my basement. (at 15 outside) I guess I'll just have to wait for it to warm up. My fiancee might get a bit angry if I spray paint it in the kitchen. haha. I wonder if I can get away with warming the gun up to room temperature in my house then spraying it in the basement.... It's about 50 degress in the basement...
  25. My advice (AND I'm a newbie) is to start with Velcro and then see how you would like to change it. Velcro is easily removable. Cementing snaps in the wrong place is really hard to change. I am using a combo of different methods. I'm using the suspenders for the ab and back plate just like Daves Garage. A combo of Glue and Velcro for the forearms. (I can't get my hands through the armor if they are glued on both sides.) Snaps to hold the biceps to the shoulder bells. Velcro to hold the shoulder bells. I used two full pieces of the industrial loop velcro adhered back to back making one TOUGH & WIDE piece of velcro to hold them on. It is MUCH stronger than any snap setup. It is also much easier to put the shoulder bells on because the wide velcro doesn't move around much and is always where it should be. I found that even with the most heavy duty of snaps on the shoulder bells, if you happen to bump it the wrong way, it can come off easily... and face it, with all of this armor on, it's not easy sometimes to reach over and re-attach it. ...just my 2 cents worth.
