  1. I just saw this at Walmart today. Looked pretty cool for the money.... customizable!!!!.... If you paint this thing black you'd have pretty cool blaster. http://www.hasbro.com/shop/details.cfm?gui...&src=endeca
  2. Has anyone done any weathering on their TK? In the film, to me, they all looked a bit worn... The Sandtroopers were obviously weathered to look like sand, but the TK's in ANH also look a bit dirty. IS there a tutorial out there of the best way to achieve this look?
  3. I don't know, those kind of look cheapy made. The material that the caboots is made from is rather firm and those look really flimsy. I could be wrong though. Also, with the caboots, I have found them to run rather big.... I bought 10's about 6 months ago and they are really big.
  4. It's all powered on the AA batteries that came with the blaster. I have only had it wired up for 2 days, but I haven't noticed any power loss. I'll let you know if it drains the batteries, but so far so good... I've already blinded the neighbors cat, 2 dogs and fixed the old lady across the streets cataracts. :-)
  5. Guys, I recently bought a green laser pointer for next to nothing on ebay and thought that it would be really cool to add it to a hasbro blaster. It is really simple and if you haven't already done something like this, it looks really cool. First off you need to solder a positive and negative wire to the inside of your laser pointer. You will also need to tape down or glue the button on the laser so that it is permanently pressed in. Then solder the positive red wire to the positive terminal in the blaster. Then drill a hole in the blaster where the fake plastic selector switch is. Install a momentary switch (push button on/off from Radio Shack) in the hole. You will also need to cut out a space for the button on the trigger. Then solder the negative wire from the laser to one terminal on the switch and solder a short wire from the neg terminal on the battery to the other side of the switch and voila. You now have a laser sight on your blaster.
  6. Why are members of DIY Props being suspended. I am a member of both sites and pretty much keep a low profile. I have couple te2 helmets and one CAP bucket and FX armor. Are people honestly being suspended from FISD because they have armor that was recasted? I couldn't give a rat's an impolite person where you get your stuff from. Everyone should be having fun playing with their STAR WARS COSTUMES!!!!! I know some poeple have spent a lot of money to buy molds and have invested a lot of time and energy into this hobby. But unless you own a suit of armor that was in the movie, you are a recaster. Plain and simple. If you are in the armor business to make money and corner the market, you are stealing from LFL. Everyone shouold buy a Rubies costume if you want to high and mighty since it's licensed. Can't we all just get along? I've never even trooped before, and to be honest, when I go out on halloween dressed as a TK, because of the bickering between the FISD, DIY, MEPD, etc, I am going to avoid any TK I see because I really would like to avoid any conversation about the hobby. I want to go out, have fun and drink beers with other people who are IN COSTUMES HOPING TO HAVE FUN!
  7. Should be interesting however I wasn't too impressed with the eFX or MR limited edition. 1) The fiberglass was very heavy. 2) It still just didn't look right. Here is a pic of my CAP, eFX and TE2. I guess that it's just me, but I don't think that it looks right (so I sold it). It looks better the the MRCE, but that really isn't too hard to beat.
  8. I have an entire roll too. Let me know if you want some... it's free.
  9. I waited 4 days before I even touched mine after spraying it.... I would wait as long as possible to let it cure.
  10. That is one good looking lid. Funny, I got the first one.... and you got the last!
  11. No idea... The shop that I bought mine from had 4 different kinds. I got the one that looked as close to my FX armor as I could. Unfortuantely, it didn't have a name. Sorry.
  12. I have a ton of the stuff. I used industrial velcro to secure it. It works great. I will probably have to replace it after a while as it's not exactly the most durable stuff. If you want some, let me know and I can mail it to you. I bought it at Hancock Fabrics which is everywhere.
  13. Tupperware TK is VERY relieable and a really nice guy. Just like to point out that I had an FX helmet. Looked awesome and it was fun to build. BUT, when I put it on I looked like a bobble head and I'm 6 feet 2 inches. Look at the size difference between the FX and the TE2! You will probably look cartoonish with such a big helmet..... I did.
  14. You can't go wrong with the AP Second for the price... there are other options out there though. Just make sure that you take your time and look around. -Not just on this forum, but others as well. The helmet is the most inportant part of the armor, make an informed decision and take your time.
  15. I don't know why you are having a hard time hearing the static burst.... It is there. I just got the original (unaltered) Episode IV -before it was called ANH. Almost everytime a TK speaks, there is a static burst. (I couldn't hear any static burts in the entire "move along" scene. In some scenes it is very quiet... in some scenes, it is very noticeable. I had to put mt ear up to the speaker on my home theater system to hear it in a couple scenes, but it is there. You can even hear it in the "Look sir, droids" line. But it most cases, it is so small you wouldn't notice it unless you were looking for it. As I mentioned a few posts back, it is very noticeable when the Sandtroopers are in the Cantina.
  16. I did the helmet first because I couldn't wait. :-)
  17. I watched the film again tonight and whilst there is not "static burst" on most of the stormtrooper scenes, there is in one part. Watch the scene where the TD's enter the Cantina looking for the c3po and r2...... when they ask at the bar, there is definately static burst.............
  18. You did a great job. Looks sweet. As tiepilot1138 mentioned, the ab buttons are the right color, but seem a bit big. I don't know if they will need to be smaller for EI status, but it's a simple thing to change anyways. Well done!
  19. I was the lucky one to get the 1st CAP "prototype" Signature bucket. Here's a pic of it next to my eFX Hero. Love that shine! ===========
  20. I really have been lucky with feed back. i had the Walmart VC in my fx and I never really had any trouble with feedback with the unit wired to aerator speakers. The most important thing was the position of the microphone to my mouth. Too close, and you'll get a little feedback. Too far away, no feedback, but not loud. You have to find the "Sweet spot". I now have the Scott Respirator in my TE2 with aerator speakers and it is the same. (Slightly louder though).
  21. Take my advice, do not get the FX bucket. You will like it at first, but no matter how well you build it, it does not look as good as a movie accurate helmet. TE2 look fantastic and there are a lot of other kinds out there. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the MRCE -(It will cost you around $100 and you're going to have to put a lot of extra work into it to get it to look decent.) The helmet is the most important part of the armor so for me, movie accurate is the way to go. Don't worry about head size. As Terrell mentioned, you can always trim the opening to fit any size mellon. I have an eFX. (Which is a fiberglass helmet based on a movie accurate helmet) It 's about the same size as my TE2, but the underside is completely trimmed out. The elephant man could fit this thing on his head and be fine. :-)
