  1. I think that ear has just been slightly over trimmed when the helmet was put together. I dont let it bother me
  2. I think the caboots run a bit on the large side if anything.
  3. I figuered i would keep the weathering down as the real helmet must have been treated with kid gloves as it has only the slightest paint missing, pics courtesy of Jez at sw helmets dot com
  4. Ok i diceded to give the lid a few chip marks seen on the original but am not sure whether i like the weathering, you decide....
  5. I used to suffer from sometimes getting my chest plate stuck inside the ab plate and it was very annoying as you know. What i did to solve the problem was to get another ab and change how my cod split was done. My first attemp was low as is seen alot. The cut also sometimes got stuck under my belt and by being six foot tall my belt was slung around my hips and not around my waist or middle, so this mod made the armour look better all round. Here is how my first ab plate looked When doing my second ab plate i added an inch or so at least in the area that i cut and this stoped the chest plate getting under and raised my belt to my middle, im much happier with how the suit fits and looks. This is a really cheap mod and i would recommend it for taller fx troopers.
  6. Oh i nearly forgot a couple of pics of the lid being signed my Tony Forrest, the move along trooper himself..
  7. Ok i had a better day with the paint today and got things pretty much wrapped up. I re-did the grey traps this morning and then this afternoon i put on the black out lines. Earlier today i painted the mesh on the hovi mic tips black as can be seen in the pics of the real move along helmet courtesy of jez at starwarshelmets dot com. Whether this was post or pre production is anyones guess, but its what i ran with. They were then inserted as wonkily as i could manage and on with the tube stripes. I must admit i wish i was man enough to try these free hand with paint and a brush but im not to trooper decals will do for now... Getting the rubber brow trim on was a real hard job as since i re-positioned the back and cap this has become quite tight. The neck trim was quite easy which im glad about. So here we are, not quite a perfect replica and im not quite finished either, but this is my version of the move along trooper lid
  8. Ok i have just painted the frown, traps and vocoder and didnt really have the best time.. The paint didnt seem to want to play nicely today and i think more went on me than on this lid. The grey seemed rather thin and watery today maybe it was the high heat i dont know. Anyway the right ear had to come off to fully paint the trap and what a fun job that was. Trying not to peel off all the paint was a job in its self but never mind...
  9. If you need some ears try John Danter on here, he offers hero and stunt versions
  10. Looks miles better with just painting those rivets, nice work
  11. Great armour and wow, great pics
  12. Good luck and be sure to post progress pics
  13. Its ok im not using the krylon paint on this Ok i have 3 coats of paint on this now and its starting to look more like a trooper helmet. The khaki is quite hard to cover with white so i may put a final coat on. The good or bad news (depending on your point of view) is the paint no longer falls off at the slightest touch. Here are some more wip pics for you good people...
  14. I aggree with Nathan, Benard and Paul Seriously i would replace the chest and back plate, i think if you trim the fx chest part it will look odd as the overall shape will be lost, its definately made for a very tall troooper. Apart from that everything else looks good to go
  15. Heres what i had in my photobucket acc \
  16. Thanks for the tips guys i will check out the link you sent me Peter. I have just given the lid a third coat and will leave that to dry. Ive been putting on a coat of enamal and leaving it for 24 hrs in between. Today i tried scrapping a bita and i didnt get through to the plastic this time but to be honest if it peels off it adds to the look I will take some pics tomoro when i come in from work as by the time i get to work on this it is always getting dark and the pics come out a bit crapy...
  17. This is the inside of my TE2, basic is an understatement.....
  18. Hey Scott i was going to do this esb style also, until i had it signed that is... Anyways the first coat and a half of paint has gone on, i took a pic while it was still wet. When you read in these threads that paint does not want to stick to this plastic i dont think you really realise how true that is. After the first really thin coat was dry i rubbed a small part with my thumb nail and the paint just came stright off I will give it another coat tomoro and then see how were doing, hopefully i will have this finished by the weekend...
  19. Its going to be on display for now.. im planning on turning my fx kit sandy later in the year so i may troop in it if i do
  20. Well out of the helmets i currently own i think the TE2 is my favourite so far
  21. Im not too sure about the RT, i *think* it is a fan sculpt with a TE derivative faceplate, someone will say for sure. I spose it will depend on which version you get.. Size wise i dont know i have never seen 1 in person. I have an AP and they are made from 2nd or 3rd gen moulds (?) from TE as most accurate looking helmets are and they are fairly small. Some people (me included) have to trim the neck hole quite a bit just to get them on. Take in consideration that trimming and esembly has a lot to do with how the helmet will look and fit and there are other helmets out there to suit bigger headed guys..... Maybe meet up with some local garrison mates and see what they have and try them on?
  22. Ok so ive had this T*E hdpe helmet laying around for about a month or so and now that im back from holiday i wanted to get this little beauty finished. When i got the helmet i wasnt sure what i was going to do with it but after getting it signed by Tony Forrest at C 13 this weekend i decided it was going to be a move along helmet. This is how it arrived about a month ago I thought the brow was going to be too low for a move along helmet so today i took off the ears and drilled out the rivets and moved the face plate down quite a bit and then drilled and re riveted it back together. These hdpe helmets are really soft and a couple of times i thought i was going to rip the whoe thing to pieces, slowly does it... Before and after Then i cut out the teeth and removed the rubber trim and its time for some paint
  23. Here, here thats a very nice paint job, looks very convincing
