  1. That clears a lot of questions. A just looked at a lot of screen caps, and the tip of the right shin is NEVER visiable. It is ALWAYS hidden by the knee ammo pack. Is it possible they added this just to HIDE the misaligned parts? just an idea,,, Sorry if this was a little hi.jacking...
  2. Happy birthday!
  3. Awesome! I really like the weathering..... especially on those hand guards but..... Whats going on here ?
  4. The new, red ones
  5. 1) Yes, those are the riovet covers for the belt 2) Yes, your trim line seems a about right. HTH! Karin
  6. wow, thanks for sharing these pics, Joe! They anwer some other questions aswell Karin.
  7. With correctly trimmed frown holes, should there remain a "return edge" on the inside? thanks, Karin
  8. I'm sure she had only good intentions in mind... Bleach it completely, then soak it in some tea or coeffe to "age" it again... Karin
  9. Take a strip of styrene, heat it up with an air dryer, bend it to shape, put on some chrome tape and rivet it on... Karin
  10. yeah, right. And next you'll say you've seen one without any tube stripes
  11. well, it took me some with google, but now I get it. For all non native speakers: It's a play on words with "That's the way the cookie crumbles", meaning "something that you say which means that bad things sometimes happen and there is nothing you can do to prevent it, so it is not worth becoming upset about it" (Cambridge Idioms Dictionary) Karin
  12. I somehow can't link to the 2nd page. But just search the directory of this page; it's in the folder "ST helmet" This is how I found it. There are lots of cool pics from other costumes Karin
  13. Here's page 2. Enjoy! While this is a bad example of the restauration of a screen used helmet, those techniques can br used for our personal helmets. I personally like the way to reenforece the aerator sockets. Karin Edit: copy this and paste it into your browser http://www.q-net.net.au/~nipngnwm/Starwars/ST%20Helmet/Pete's%20Stormy%20Helmet%20Restoration%20Page%202.html
  14. Actually, you don't need any rivets at all. They're just looped over the belt and fixed with the snap which goes on the ab plate. As TM once said, there where no pop rivets used at all on ANH armor Karin
  15. Happy, happy birthday! Karin
  16. Happy birthday, Paul. !! Thanks for your help on many oaccasions! Karin
  17. Awesome! So Peter, Paul and ....you (not "Mary) have the first true replicas Congratulations. This strapping system looks a lot easier and cheaper. BTW: shouldn't the label read "Wayne" instead of "Mark" ? (j/K) Karin
  18. Awesome! Thanks for sharing! What kind of rivets are holding the elastic on the abs and back? They look like something like this Karin
  19. Yes, this one looks FAR BETTER Karin
  20. okay, I'll ask: Do you paint an ABS kit, because the original ones have been painted during restauration aswell? If so, that would be a fact which is rather unknown Karin
  21. Thanks everybody for your input! Well, there are 2 reasons to paint it: 1) I made some severe scratches and small cuts while building it, which won't buff out 2) the originals were painted too Thanks, Karin
  22. I'll soon start painting my AP helmet. But before that, I'd like to have the build checked by the experts. I'm not sure if it is built correctly. I don't know what I don't like it, can't point the finger to it. It looks a little "square". Is the angle of the faceplate correct? Should I trim the eyes out a little more (ANH)? Or is it oka the way it is? Thanks, Karin
  23. interesting pic, thanks for sharing- This all will help us make highly accurate suits - A quick observation: the 3 strips of elastic seems to be riveted with 2 pop rivets each (instead of 1 jeans rivet) and insted of the cheast screws there seem to be pop rivets aswell Karin
  24. I love the "eye and hook" solution at the back of the shins. But I can't figure out te function of the six screws on the chest.... I'd like to see the "correct" strapping sytem one day.. Karin
