  1. Hey Eric, hope you are feeling better. Strep is awful. In the first pic above with the arms: you might want to remove/sand down that point at the top of the forearms and biceps where you trimmed the coverstrip. That might poke into your arm. And, did your kit have trim lines for the ab? Anyways, don't worry too much about the space around the mid section. If you find it too loose while wearing it, you can always add a bit of padding. The extra room is nice for air movement anyways. However, I did find with my first build that I had to make a tab and slot connection for the right side to keep it from overlapping because I had a lot of extra room.
  2. DLT-19 upgrade. Since I want to also have the option of trooping as the cantina captain, I need a dirty DLT-19. I added some wire to the t tracks and added a bit of weathering. Used dremel to make some notches in t-tracks. Installed wire. I used 19 gauge black wire. Might be a little thin but it is what I had on hand. Reference from Looksirdroids website. Light wash of light brown paint. It does not show up very well in photos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Pics Darker lens and s-trim installed More ear trimming. Baby steps. Compare pics after and before distressing the MP40 pouches. I used 220 and 600 grit sandpaper and a wire brush. Distressing small Spanish pouches. After and before. I roughed up the pauldron but the effect does not really show very well in photos, so I won’t show that. Pauldron after some black and brown paint washes. Boots got brown and dark grey washes. Everything got a few light coats of a dark grey/ sandy colour. I have pouches for both versions of the docking bay capt and cantina capt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Weathering the pouches and pauldron and boots. So I got a jump on the weekend - I took Friday off and spent quality time with my family - and by quality time I mean I snuck away every chance I had to work on my armour. I also installed a darker lens in the bucket, trimmed the ears a bit more (they can use even more to be screen accurate - yeesh), and installed the S-trim. Once again I made the opening of the helmet too small - my head fits, but barely. No head mounted microphone for me again. All that is left for the helmet is to install a bunch of Velcro and then add fans. I also heard from CrookKnight and my pack is ready for shipping. Woo hoo! All that is left is some sewing - still haven't convinced the wife to get that done for me. Oh, and I still need to add the t-track wires to my DLT-19 and build my T-21. But since it is 37°C (~99°F) here, I am relaxing with a very cold beer. I'll post some pics shortly. After a few sips of my very cold beer.

  6. Hi Eric, for polishing I use a product called Novus plastic polish. There are 3 levels (1, 2, and 3). Level 1 is just a cleaner, but level 2 and 3 will remove scratches (2 for very fine scratches and 3 for slightly coarser scratches). Depending on the surface (how rough it is), you may have to wet-sand it down with wet/dry sandpaper or polishing clothes (usually found at hardware stores in the automotive section). I didn't go back to see your previous posts, but you should be able to just polish or sand over the paint if need be. Hope this helps.
  7. Congrats!! And welcome aboard, trooper!
  8. Congrats on your BBB day! Enjoy the build!
  9. I was told to trim it, so I did. There are examples of the coverstrip being trimmed in this fashion on the RS suit as well. So - I don't think you have to, but I would recommend it as a comfort and durability item (it can get caught on things).
  10. Yeah, kids. Lol. I was just doing up a to-do list and was writing “wire for DLT-19” when your post came through.
  11. Thanks! My five year old son told me the weathering looked fake. I told him it was paint. He asked why I ruined my armour.
  12. First test fit with the weathering and pauldron. Still need to make my thigh garter (temp setup being used) and proper shoulder straps. And yes, those are my dancing shoes (need to weather boots, pauldron, and pouches). I didn’t bother with the pouches but the wife snapped a few pics of the fitting so I tried some poses. Daniel, I was in a hurry and totally botched the pose. Next time And I need to finish the T-21. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I can’t let Daniel ( @TheSwede ) be the only one posting pics of dirty buckets. Added the Hovi mics and green lens. I used the screen accurate green. I might switch out for the darker lens. Also shaved some more off the ears to increase the ear gap. Took pics inside and outside to test the look. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. I've done both. Using snaps does give you an easy option for replacing worn out elastic (when/if the day comes). Getting the spacing right with gluing was actually easier - but that is because I suck at snaps. I would avoid webbing here - some flexibility is good. I put my straps along the coverstrip seam - so they need to flex a bit.
  16. Thanks. Yeah, I used images from this site a lot. Like Daniel mentioned, my helmet is the "stop that ship" guy, but both helmets were well photographed after the fact. Starwarshelmets.com is great reading for anyone in this hobby for sure!
  17. No. Three teeth per side. I forgot to use the flash when I took the pictures. - everything looks so dark.
  18. Last major weathering hurdle - the bucket. There isn’t much reference for the left side or back so I took some artistic license. I still need to attach the Hovi mics and install the lens. Reference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Pepakura?! This is impressive! Are the back of the shins closed?
  20. Doesn't really matter. The thighs are easy to trim after the fact - especially if you remove the upper return edge (which I recommend). It seems it all fits a little different once you get the strapping in - so some adjustments are going to happen regardless.
  21. I'm loving your pack mods. Of course, it just reminds me that I will eventually have that job to do too.
