  1. A little gap around the eyes is normal and actually helps with airflow. I also used the existing ear screws. It really wasn't that hard to do. There is a good youtube video out there that shows how to do it - I think is by Mike at Trooperbay. I couldn't find just now, but poke around on google and see what comes up.
  2. Hooray for BBB day - even if it is bucket-less. Post lots of pics and share all the details. At this rate, by the time I finally finish my TD, you will have finished an ESB TK, TD, and FOTK. I don't know how you do it.
  3. I agree with Frank. Looks good. And if it is a touch big... that is better than too small.
  4. Minor progress these last few weeks. Life with young children is not conducive to building armour - plus we’ve been away on vacation for a bit. Oh well, here are some more check boxes that I’ve checked off. Started to add the canon bracket strapping. I managed to get the screws counter sunk a bit. I have seen other people use elastic along the left kidney to abdomen connection. They also used a extra piece of ABS to support it. I tried the same method, but once I got the split rivets set, a gap formed. The elastic got stretched a little a now won’t retract due to the ABS support. This is a lot more gap than I want. Not too happy. I changed out the right ab snap for a “Tandy”-less snap. Added some bits of ABS to the inside of the thighs. I will ABS paste the outside. The screen used thighs appear to be filled as well - probably paint. Reference Snap bases for shoulder straps. I also added a snap base opposite the right ab snap (not shown) 25mm coverstrips for back of shins. Adding Velcro before gluing. I’ll see how that works. Just waiting for one snap base to set. Happy belated Father’s Day. My wife ordered me a couple of helmet bags from Trooperbay. She even knew that one should be TD. Just when you think they don’t care... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Nice work! Thanks for sharing. I was wondering how I was going to attach those small ammo pouches.
  6. Looks great Giles! Hey @Pyrates , do you not agree? Couple of minor things needed for L2/L3, but basic is an easy pass.
  7. For centurion approval, it really doesn’t matter where. Part of the problem for me was using the wider elastic on my first try. The wider elastic contributed to the bunching as well.
  8. Nice work!
  9. I just did this same thing with 2mm ABS - no issues. If you want, you could give the thighs a quick hot bath and try to shape them a little, but I think ample E6000 will work just fine. Good job on your build!
  10. Great progress! Nice work.
  11. I just meant it would depend how it fits the wearer. If the person is tall, and the shins are sitting a bit higher, the top of the boot may pop out - which would be an issue. If the person is short, and the shins are sitting low with no risk of the boot popping out, then all is good. But yes, I believe the CRLs are sometime purposely vague to give us that wiggle room. However, not all GMLs see it the same. At the end of the day, go for as screen accurate as you can.
  12. I would be more worried about the height at the ankle. These look pretty low.
  13. Hi Chris. I would not have a stormtrooper costume if it wasn't for this site. This was pretty much my only reference. There is a ton of info here to find and read but... and more importantly, there are many fine people here who are willing help you along your way. Choosing armor is a big hurdle to clear right off the bat. Any of the vetted vendors (the link provided above by Thumpy) will provide you with armor that you will be happy with. The only question is your body shape. Some armor is better for bigger guys. The original armor was designed for fit guys about 5'10" and 160 lbs so most kits are designed around these dimensions. But any kit can be modified to accommodate a wide range of heights and weights - so if you are anywhere close to the ideal measurements you will have a pretty easy time putting a kit together. Start reading some of the posts here on this site. The "getting started" section is really important. If you want to be a classic stormtrooper, I would recommend the "A New Hope stunt stormtrooper" or ANH-S TK. This build is the most common and therefore has the most reference material and available supplies. I would also go through a couple of build threads. The first one I went through was ukswrath's Anovos build - he does an incredible job of detailing all the steps. Some details are particular to this kit, but the vast majority of info can be applied to any stormtrooper kit. here is the link: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-uswraths-anovos-tk-build-stunt/ Don't let the overload of info overwhelm you. Take some time to research. Order a kit. Once you start the process, you will never look back. It is an amazing journey and a kick-a$$ hobby.
  14. Hey Daniel, I see you used a piece of ABS to help secure the kidney-to-ab straps (upper right of picture). I've seen this in a number of builds. What is the benefit of this? Is it because you used elastic? Thanks.
  15. Oh yeah, I even have a handy dandy tool for this very purpose. I'm just trying to convince myself I don't have to do it for all those holes. Plus, I'm worried about making these holes any weaker or more susceptible to cracking than they already seem to be. I'm sure they will be fine. I'll probably have to add re-enforcement ABS as well. It is too hot today for patience. Time for a beer.
  16. Looking very nice! The only thing I noticed was your left forearm was sitting a little high. That said, easy pass.
  17. Well, not much happening with the build this week. I managed to get all the holes drilled for the original bracket strapping system and tested some of the connections. I also did some more minor reshaping of some return edges with the always scary heat gun. Drilling holes. Glued 3 button plate. Glued rivet covers on belt. And started painting a bunch of screws and rivets white. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Is this gap normal with the original bracket strapping system? The screws are standing on each other. Inside Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Yep, go with the paint. Your stencil work on the traps and tears is great.
  21. Looking good! For the shins, I just added some Velcro to the top front of my boot and the inside of the calf. Works great.
  22. Hi Robyn. Looks great! Easy pass. A couple of small tweaks and you should be good for upper level approval too. For example, looks like you might need to move those drop boxes out a little.
  23. I won’t lie, yes it is. That feeling is normal. Remember to do lots of research, measure 3 or 4 times, trim pieces on the large side, and use E6000. Nearly all mistakes can be fixed. Post pics and ask questions and you’ll do fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Also, check out this build. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/41502-crickets-wtf-hero-build-even-more-tk-for-the-vertically-challenged/ Good luck on your build! Bucket looks good. I would trim a bit more from the eyes, but that is just me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. For pictures I use Tapatalk or Imgur. Both are free. Tapatalk works great if you are uploading from a mobile device. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
