  1. Welcome aboard, James. A lovely story there showing your love for Star Wars. I’m with you on the bonding side, too - my children are growing up in and around stormtrooper helmets and armour parts and it’s lovely for them to be a part of. Would love to see some pics of your blaster if you wanted to share them. Regarding armour, another that makes armour parts for taller and larger troopers is RWA Creations in the UK. Best wishes Dan
  2. Nice work, Darren. :-)
  3. Excellent work, Glen. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hiya, To my knowledge, no. I don’t believe this is specific in the CRL. This was just a suggestion for accuracy rather than CRL, or higher levels, related. [emoji1303][emoji16]
  5. Hi Andrew, Yeah, no need for measurements in the CRL for this; my point was more that this sort of “reference”, when viewed more recently with much more hi res reference material to go from, is actually quite misleading. Many new troopers will look at these sorts of guides and follow them to the letter. When one becomes out of date, like this one, new builders are actually continuing their builds with incorrect information. As such, we fail to progress as a legion in terms of quality of costumes. So, this was really more to alert new builders to what I believe is a more accurate measurement. I certainly don’t think actual measurements should be added to the CRL for this. As with most things ANH, it should be about “looking” right and proportional, not about exact measurements. [emoji1303] Oh, btw, I’ll give that other question some thought. No idea why you thought of me with that one.......lol [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303]
  6. Oh yes - Luke’s is very close. Whereas Han’s follows the 3-4cm suggestion. Typical ANH. ;-) Good point on the holster strap length. [emoji1303]
  7. That’s no problem. The originals didn’t always match up, either. Here’s examples. ----------- Notice how the coverstrip stop on the shorter of the two pieces. [emoji1303]
  8. I can’t believe that anyone would pay over the odds for a kit from the Mandalorian. Being brutally honest, it’s not even very well built or fitted. The topic of “oh, that makes [xyz] kit cannon” is a slippery slope. Let’s be honest, they are built to various qualities, as are the various armour suppliers. Personally, I believe that new-comers should be aspiring to replicate original, screen used suits, not copies.
  9. Hey there Troopers So, in amongst real life (and my current lean towards playing Call of Duty Warzone over building), I found some time yesterday to continue the build. Part of this is thanks to the incentive to be ready for September 26th as the UK Garrison are working with Macmillan Cancer support to host virtual or socially distanced coffee mornings. Looking forward to doing good things to help people in need. So, one shin front is now done and the other is currently gluing. So, just the recap, most of the torso and arms are done. Just need to add the ab buttons and shoulder bridges. Thighs are glued at the front but need to size them up (hopefully screen accurate sizes, if poss) and add the top elastics. Belt needs adding to the fabric belt and drop boxes to complete. Getting there. :-)
  10. Hiya, Yes, I agree with Firedog - if you start your own build thread, you can track all of your questions and answers in one thread, then start sharing your build when you are ready to start cutting. Here’s the best section for that; https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ Regarding the wrist ends, here’s some screen used suits for reference. And here’s how I, personally, get a nice, flat, return-edge-less wrist opening;
  11. Ooo, and regarding the coverstrips question, I recently did a video about that very topic. :-)
  12. Welcome aboard, Joe, Excellent answers above, so I won’t delve too much into that. Personally, I’d recommend a couple of things. 1: look at screen used suits (screen grabs) to get a feel of how the originals were. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/ 2: look at other builds here on FISD with AM kits (Dave’s Darkside Depot). This is because, as with many replica armours, AM is a little different to the originals so it’s a good idea to see how others have built and made the most of their armour. Before you start cutting, carry on as you are - asking questions and doing you research. You’re on the right path, trooper. :-)
  13. Thanks, Jesse. Hope you are well, sir. :-)
  14. Hey troopers, A little look at the original suits and how the bicep and forearms were attached and aligned. Plus, a look at shoulder trimming. Check out the short video for more discussion on this. :-) As per the below video, the common misconception is that the bicep and forearm coverstrips align at the front. This video shows how the original bicep and forearms were attached and how this affected the position of the two pieces. Here’s some supporting images; *armour accuracy dependant. **as always, all screen used suits were slightly different as they were hand made
  15. Haha. Yes, about time! Can’t wait to get started on it. [emoji2956]
  16. Hey there troopers, I was thrilled to receive a package yesterday, (a MBB: medium, brown box), generously sent to me by the team at RS Prop Masters. What an honour. :-) So, I did a little unboxing as it’s been a long time in the making. And, I was not disappointed. More updates and a full build thread to follow. 17. No worries. If it helps, here’s the process I use to paint mine. These around 3 or 4 videos going through the traps and tears, frown, vocoder etc. Bear in mind that this is for a Stunt helmet, but, some principles carry over to a Hero helmet. The frown, of course, will be the biggest difference.
  18. Hi troopers, I recently recorded a little video talking about OT TK coverstrips and approximately how long they should be in comparison to the armour / armor. Of course, this is just my opinion and, as always, each suit in ANH/ESB was hand made so there will be variations. However, my thoughts are supported by reference photos. Hope this is helpful. :-) Dan / CableGuy
  19. Welcome aboard, Kevin. :-)
  20. Welcome aboard, trooper :-)
  21. Welcome aboard, Steve. :-)
  22. Have you considered hand painting? With a bit of research and practice, it’s really not that difficult. Plus, the results are lovely. :-)
  23. When you’re ready, be sure to start your thread over at www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum. We can then guide you through to clearance. Best wishes Dan
  24. Welcome aboard, Dylan. :-)
  25. Welcome aboard, Wolf. :-)
