  1. Congratulations to both!!! You guys are a credit to FISD.
  2. This pretty well sums it up. Elastic to make a hinge and strong velcro at the top to keep it closed. It's in the 2nd page of my build thread (in my sig) and THIS might be the link to that post.
  3. There's snaps on mine. Really useful to be honest. I hinged them to hold keys and money. Nice to pop off a box, open it, and pay for ice cream without taking off my helmet.

Sadly, the Meme Squad will be declining, but are honored by the nomination. Perhaps one year in the future...
  5. Just beautiful. I lust after these every time one passes by my FB stream. I have absolutely no need for an ROTJ E11 but will definitely own one of yours someday.

Life got busy and I neglected the meme thread... dang it. and now it's back to work!!! No force chokes! and lastly...
  7. The det is very much the ANH/ESB style one, just squished down in terms of width. The button on the ROTJ is quite different as is the panel below it. And yeah, totally R1 drop boxes on that belt. Long and skinny.
  8. Fantastic reference shots and a very cool build idea! I hope it pans out and we get a new CRL out of this. Bravo for taking it on! The backpack looks quite Sandy-based to me with the little radar dish, toilet plunger thing, and other parts. Is the hose the same CPAP one that Cad Bane uses? Might be worth looking into anyway. The MP40 pouch looks quite non-leather with the ribbing going on. That's pretty awesome because at least currently, the canvas ones are a lot easier to find than leather. Looks to hang off the shoulder vs being attached to the pauldron, which is nice for movement and visibility. The one on my HWT pauldron can get in the way of my chin at times.
  9. If I may offer a humble suggestion - either a mic hidden under your chest or an over the ear mic which many of us use in our buckets anyway. The volume levels were quite low. A green screen with a starry window projected on it might be a pretty awesome backdrop. Just since you mentioned it and were after suggestions. But yeah, great idea! Post a bunch and keep tweaking. You'll have some very engaging ones for classes in short order!
  10. My bucket flew in the cabin with me, along with all batteries (they can no longer be in checked bags and have to be WITH you... so strange). I checked my armor. No damage to anything. I added Tile and Airtag trackers to the bin so I could keep an eye on it and have help finding it regardless of platform. Very very few TKs can sit comfortably long enough to do a whole flight in armor. I'm one of them. I didn't want to put my armor through that, or any of my fellow passengers. I'm a small guy but those seats are even smaller. Just check your armor bin.
  11. Grey cod and belt without the lower taper. Very interesting.
  12. +1 to this. Walts armor is VERRRY small and a good 95% of troopers need to add side shims. The molds seem to be made for the most petite troopers.
  13. Gus!!! Gus is one of my garrison mates and best friends. He's also a fantastic photographer and responsible for such photos as.... and and (and this is his scout armor) Glad to have you here brother.

  20. I suspect that when you start to work with it, most of your questions will answer themselves. It's pretty easy stuff to work with. I highly suggest something like a jelly jar with the double lid to house and mix your ABS paste in. I used a baby food jar and the acetone melted the seal in the lid after a year or so. I had a solid block of ABS inside that I had to break free (no sense in wasting it) and revitalize in a new jar. Every consistency of ABS paste has a use in my opinion. The runny stuff that's super liquidy is fantastic for a top coat or getting in small cracks. More chunky stuff works great for filling holes quickly. Everything needs sanding of course, but runny paste sands easier and seems more coherent. Chunky paste will reveal inner bubbles as it's sanded. And since I'm putting in my 2 cents, I really like 2 part epoxy for holding things like shims in place. Use the ABS paste to finish edges and holes but rely on the strength of 2 part epoxy to bond things together. My personal fav is Devcon Plastic Welder.

I recently did an out of town troop with some friends I'd never trooped with before. One shot in particular had us 4 TKs standing in very similar thumbs up poses looking basically identical in every way. It took me more than a minute to play "how well do I know my own armor?" and pick myself out of the group. Can't wait to get to share those pix. And since I'm replying I gotta meme...
