  1. Hi Ardeshir, Thanks for your EIB application!! CRL and EIB Application Requirements All required photos are now in and, after review, we are pleased to welcome you to Expert Infantry rank. On behalf of the DO team and myself, many congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Note that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions Lets start at the top and work our way down shall we? Great job on cleaning up the frown area and adding the weathering to the Hovi Tips, Like I said earlier Anovos has a habit of adding a little to much paint on the frown and looks like they did the same on the V-Coder. Using the same method you did with the frown & it'll make a big difference. Reference Image Also lately Anovos seems to be assembling the helmets with the ears in a vertical position. Ideally the ear aligns like the reference image below, you can see the screws line up with the rear angle of the top trap. While correcting this is only a suggestion, it is not a requirement on any level to fix. We thought we would point this out to you in case you felt like trying for a little more screen accuracy. Reference Image Moving on to your Mid section, One thing that has been brought to my attention and after looking a little deeper I agree with is to enlarge the paint just a little bit on the ab buttons. While most new troopers tend to get a bit over zealous and make them to big. You seemed to air on the side of caution, I added the red layer to yours with a correct diameter circle so you can see what we're talking about. The one thing I did when painting mine was to tape off then use a stencil that matched the hole. This way it keeps it off the midsection about an 1/8 of an inch and the stencil keeps the diameter at 7/16" or 11 mm. Reference Photos Also take a look at the strapping that attaches the butt plate to the kidney plate on the right side, looks like that could be readjusted and tightened up a bit to allow the armor to sit better. I would check the COD strap as well as that would help pull the armor into place if it has a tendency to rise. I found that switching from an elastic to a nylon type material strap helps, and as an added bonus this will help close the gap from the back of your thighs to give you that clean line we strive for. Reference Image I would also like to suggest taking a look at the length on the strapping to your thighs, Looks as if you can adjust it about a 1/2" or so higher to even the top of your thighs and close the gap between them and the cod piece. Reference Image The last suggestion I'll make is on the length of your belt. The one thing you'll notice that you can't see is the end of his belt, It's hidden behind the Thermal Detonator. This is just one more example of how big clean lines play a role and help portray an image in this franchise. This is an easy fix that should take about 10 minutes with a sewing machine and white thread. Just don't forget to hem the seam to keep it from coming unraveled. Reference Photo Centurion Requirements In this section we prepare you for Centurion. More photos may be requested in the future that allow us to make better decisions on possible adjustments. If there are any areas of concern they will be discussed here. Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items to pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all that we can from what is seen, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. The following adjustments & changes will need to be made prior to achieving Centurion Per CRL "Ear screws shall be slotted, flat topped, countersunk and painted white." Anovos for some reason uses a different type of screw for the bottom of the ears that are not a flat countersunk screw, any local hardware / home depot should have the proper screws so you could change them out quickly & add a drop of white paint to them. Reference Photo Per CRL " There should be minimal gap between the shoulder armor and the chest/back plates." Moving down to your shoulders, I think its an alignment issue but you will need to double check your return edges and snap location and that should close your gap. If your have a hard time closing the gap you can check your bicep sizing and see if you could reduce them. This will help bringing the shoulder bells in as well. Reference Photo PER CRL"Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box." Moving on to the midsection once again great job at taken the advice of your fellow troopers on the ab buttons and squaring them off. One more thing you can do is add a bit of E6000 to the drop box loops to keep them aligned & not have to worry about them sliding out of place. Reference Image Per CRL Canvas belt can not contain patches of any sort. Canvas belt must be firm / sturdy in appearance. No creasing or sagging Another thing I will bring up is the hi-lighted area on your belt. I will ask for a close up & clear picture of this as it seems to have been patched and also creased around the Chicago screws. As Centurion is the highest level we feel that the belt needs to be replaced with a more rigid one without patching. Per CRL Rivets are equally spaced along the depth of the armor and about 10mm from the edge. The heads are rounded or domed. Rivets are painted white. As your fellow troopers have mentioned check you rivet spacing on the ab section as it seems a bit off, this is an easy fix with a little abs paste & effort, while you're there you can touch up the paint on the kidney rivets. Reference Photo. Lastly, while you're adjusting your drop boxes as mentioned above, you may want to add a piece of Velcro to help keep your belt in place. Take a look at the reference photo below where the belt covers the bottom bit of the fourth ab button. Looks like yours is close but it may have slid a bit. I highlighted is where it should be resting. Reference Photo Overall you've done a great job building your armor and also you've shown the willingness to not only take your fellow troopers advice but you've implemented it and in return you have one great set of armor. Well done Trooper - congrats and see you at Centurion!!
  2. Hey Ardeshir Again thanks for your patience, It is in for review and we need a second set of eyes needs to take a look at it. (Everything goes through a double check.) We’ll get back with you shortly!
  3. Thanks for your Patience Adi, After a crazy week & trooping schedule I'm good to go & I'll start digging into this tonight!!
  4. Hey Ardeshir, On last thing, I'm going to need you to paint the screws on your thermal detonator black before we can move forward. Take a look at the reference photo and you'll see what we're looking for. Reference Photo
  5. Thanks for your patience, I’m just about done with my review and we should have this wrapped up by the weekend!
  6. Hey Ardeshir Thanks for your patience and also for changing out your screws on the thermal detonator as requested. One more thing before we can move forward is the paint on the frown. Anovos is notorious for overspray on the frown to the lip and it looks as if yours is no exception. and per the CRL "Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. Eight total teeth on the frown are cut out." Fortunately this is an easy fix with a toothpick and little bit of effort. Take a look at your frown compared to reference frowns and you'll see the difference.
  7. Hey Joaquin, When reviewing your armor we feel that the biceps and forearms need to be reduced to get a better fit of your armor and as a bonus you will obtain that sleek ANH-look. When doing so we advise you trim the biceps from both the front and the back as you will then be able to remove that flat joining surface which did not exist on the original armor. And though it's not required we would also suggest that you try and close the gap between forearm and bicep if possible. Reference Image We also need you to re position the sniper knee as seen per reference image. Reference Image
  8. Thanks for getting these to me and for your patience.
  9. Well done, is it possible for you send a picture of the other side of the opening? Thanks again in advance
  10. Joaquin, I'm going to ask for one more photo, can you upload a closeup of the wrist openings. Thank you,
  11. Hi Joaquin, It looks as if gmrhodes has given you some excellent advise. I'm going to need you to adjust the teeth to be able to move forward. Per the CRL Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. Take a look at the reference photos and you'll see what the CRL is looking for. Fortunately this can be easily fixed with a tootpick and a little time to remove the excess paint. Please post updated photos of your helmet once completed. Your Helmet Reference Photos
  12. Hi Joaquin & thanks for your patience. Your original Deployment Officer has moved up in rank to Executive Officer. I will be going over your Centurion application and getting back you you shortly.
  13. Hi Adi, Thanks for your patience and for your application for EIB! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted and on behalf of the entire D.O Staff Welcome to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Armor Fit / Assembly: In this are we review observations made by your fellow troopers and DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Let's start with your helmet and work our way down shall we? Nice work on cleaning up the frown area, I know it’s a small detail but it makes a huge difference. Also great job on outlining the Vocoder really well defined. (only difference is screen-used did use a satin black.) Onto the brow, while this is a personal preference it looks as if you could raise it a bit, this could just be a little shifting from taken it on & off. Reference Photo Let’s take a look at the lower ear screws, you can see in the reference photo that the bottom ear screw is borderline not visible / just outside of the gasket material. Looks as if you could drop yours a little lower. Reference Photo Great job on the outline of the vocoder & hovi tips!! Next we take a look at the alignment of your armor and this could simply be movement while getting ready for photos. Just being mindful of checking that your cover strips are aligned. Check the length of your interior shoulder straps as it looks as if its causing your molded shoulder straps to be misaligned. If the interior straps are the same you can cut the large tab from the back to even them up. Reference Photo Onto your abdomen area, Take a look at the screen grab Ab button plates and your notice the size difference. Per the CRL “Abdominal buttons are approximately 7/16” (11mm) in diameter.” Reference Photo And it looks like you could bring up your belt a little bit, notice how high it rides in the screen grab compared to yours. Lastly, I know you’ve discussed this at length with your fellow troopers, It looks as if you adjust the belts outlined you should be able to close the gap between your posterior / kidney armor. Reference Photo Centurion Requirements; In this section we prepare you for Centurion. Because Centurion photos show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. Overall you’ve done a great job constructing your armor but the one area that I feel needs addressing is the size of your forearms,as per the CRL “Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.” This should be an easy fix and if you used E6000 as the cover strips should come off relatively easy. I would suggest you trim about 3/16 of an inch or about 4mm per side and check the fit and adjust as needed. Just remember to go in small increments so you don’t trim off to much, Reference Photo A couple things with your abdomen to kidney armor. per the CRL “Ideally there no gap between the abdomen and kidney armor. A single visible seam line is present.” Looks as if you used elastic strapping on the ab rivets and the one thing you can do to help the rivets stop from pulling out of the straps is to fold over the ends about 6mm and add a flat washer. I would also add that the nylon strap will help keep that gap closed as it has almost no give. Reference Photo Lastly I would point out the shoulder bells and I honestly think this was from moving around before you took the photos. Per CRL “There should be a minimal gap between the shoulder armor and the chest/back plates.” Reference Photo Again congratulations on a great build and welcome to the ranks of EIB. We hope to see you take that next step towards Centurion in the not so distant future.
  14. Adi, I’m having a hard time telling if the paint from your frown leaves the frown area, it could just be the angle of the shot. Can you post a photo from a different angle showing the frown/ teeth area. If you notice that it does leave the frown area then you can clean it up with a toothpick and a little mineral spirits before resubmitting Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thank you for the quick response Adi! I'll get back to you shortly!
  16. Adi, The only photo I'm going to request before moving forward is the left side ab details showing the rivets please.
  17. Hi Adi, Thank you for your patience & I'll apologize for the delay. It looks like you've gotten some great advice from your fellow troopers. I will start going through the requirement to make sure we have everything we need and I'll get back to you shortly! Thank again!
  18. Hi Colin, Thanks for your patience, looks as if @gmrhodes13 has given you some great advise and he is correct when saying the Thermal Detonator screws will need to be change out before we can continue. Per our CRL Level two certification (if applicable): Clips shall be attached with slotted, pan head style screws, and be black (two per clip). And We also need you to trim the bottom of the cover strips on your thighs as they shouldn't go below the ridges And lastly if you could also post a picture of the D ring on the back of your blaster I'd appreciate it.
  19. Hi Colin, Thanks you for you application for EIB. Like your other troopers have stated your missing a few photos that we require. The easiest way is like gmrhodes has described above. i personally use Imgur, its easy and free. How to post with imgur I've also added a copy of the EIB Photo Checklist. Once we have everything in place we can move forward.
  20. Hi Josh Thanks for your patience and for your application for EIB! CRL and EIB Application Requirements; All required photos have been submitted and on behalf of the entire D.O Staff Welcome to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Armor Fit / Assembly; In this are we review observations made by your fellow troopers and DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Great job on taking the initiative and really jumping on on all of the suggestions from your fellow troopers who have made this journey before, from cleaning up the paint from the frown down and adding some white to the Hovi tips. And like Sha Sha has stated, you being my first application I was probably a little to thorough but that should give you a head start with Centurion. if you choose to take it to that level. Chest & Ab Section Really clean build, I like to measure a build with what the public doesn't see and the interior of your midsection really shines through, I like the way you did the interior strapping with combining the original bracket style with the security of some snaps. And the before and after photo of the button detail on the abs shows what a difference maybe an ⅛ of an inch can make. And nice job on taking your fellow troopers advice on the drop boxes. The last thing I would suggest is your left forearm is a bit long or your bicep could come up a bit so it’s not touching the hand plates While this won’t hold you back, it looks as if your shins could have a little tighter / more taper to them. Take a look at the attached photo and you can see the difference and it will really take your kit looking like you just walked off the screen. Centurion Requirements; In this section we prepare you for Centurion. Because Centurion photos show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen here and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can see, but the final accuracy is the responibility of the trooper. Helmet; The lower screws in your helmet will need to be changed out to a flat head style screw pictured below. (This is a common issue with Anovos Helmets) Ear screws shall be slotted, flat topped, countersunk and painted white. Shoulders; This should be a quick fix, looking at your white shoulder strapping it looks as if you have the snaps attached towards the outside edge. Attaching them on the opposite sides should take care of this. you can also cut the return edge shown as well and that should take care of it. (I would do one at a time and check the fit) There should be a minimal gap between the shoulder armor and the chest/back plates. Congratulations Trooper & Hope to see you move to Centurion!
  21. Again Josh great job on the fixes so far & we're almost there, just a couple more things. This could be a slight adjustment when putting your forearms on but ideally, the cover strips on the forearms/biceps could line up better. The ends of the TD clips should be square, not rounded. Reference image Onto your blaster, All Hyperfirm blasters seem to come a bit over weathered. Remember that things like grips, t tracks, and hengstler counters were all plastic and shouldn't have metallic weathering. Reference images Real Sterling grip
  22. Great job on fixing the frown and ab buttons! And like others have suggested trimming the ab plate will also bring your kit to that next level. And as long as you used E6000 it should come off with a little persuasion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Hey Josh, Can you upload a close up of the crown on your helmet, the one thing I can’t tell from the photos is if the gray on the frown extends to the lip or if it’s just a shadow? (Anovos is notorious for this) but no worries nothing a little mineral spirits and a toothpick can’t fix . Take a look at the attached and you’ll see what we’re aiming for.
