  1. For the cheek gap, you need to drill and put a bolt on the tube shape to hold them together. Do a search on various AM builds for specifics on this! I believe I have a build threat in the Heavy Weapons Trooper section with photos. I'm on my phone right now so I can't look it up, but mine and someone else's clearly show the cheek screws to pull the tubes in. Another mistake I make was thinking that the ears were somehow structural and worked to hold the face and back together. Wrong! Once you get the cheeks pulled in, you trim the ears to fit and they slip right over a secure face/back. Search for the cheek screws to save yourself the grief on this helmet!
  2. I know some who have purchased the smaller tote then used a separate bag for the helmet. This might be an option for your car.
  3. I was recently on the market for a T-21 too. I talked to Hyperfirm and he told me he isn't selling many of these as his molds are worn out. He sent pictures of the guns and the top deck looked like it was missing at lot of material. It could probably be repaired but for $425, I don't want to have to fix something. I ended up going with someone else who does small runs including electronics weighing 4.6 lbs. Hopefully I'll receive it soon.
  4. I had the same question on the belts. I used the one on the right. (I think I started a thread in this somewhere) I used the belt in the left for my HWT (no drop boxes and no holster). It's nice to have 2 belts.
  5. I too have the AM 2.0 kit for HWT and love it. Be sure you research the helmet build before thinking that the dimples on the pieces are where you should drill! The pack should be easy enough to complete before your box arrives. Good luck!
  6. My AM kit came with 2 plastic belts so I was able to make 2; a TK with the ammo boxes and holster then a HWT one with the pouch. All I had to do was buy another fabric belt. Definitely nice to have both if possible. One less thing to have to fiddle with.
  7. Just to close this modification thread out, I wanted to include a picture of how I transport my HWT accessories. I've got the thicker oil pan so all of my pieces (MP40 pouches, HWT belt, and pauldrons- shown out of the pan for the picture) fit right in there!
  8. I'm 6'0" and 210 lbs. I have the AM 2.0 and absolutely love it! As far as size, I didn't trim any heights of any pieces and it's almost a bit long/tall. I just barely fit with my height. At my weight I didn't add any side sims at all in the waist and they lined up perfectly. I've seen bigger guys than me in it and it's fine, although maybe not anyone as heavy as you. I would think it would work fine.
  9. I went with the thicker oil pan because I liked the look, then I found an added benefit; I can store all my HWT accessories inside it for transport! The downside is that it gets heavy after a few hours.
  10. Please know that I did not mean to offend anyone or break any rules by adding a couple of pipes to the pack. As you mentioned, some of the other packs with lights, round speakers, different knobs, etc. look a lot different to me than what I've done. I didn't think the 8 year olds at the libraries I troop at would notice. I don't ever plan on trooping in a Disney event or anything so formal. I troop at charity walks and libraries. When I remove these, there will be 4 screw holes in the oil pan. Do I need to replace the pan so that the holes are no longer there? Thinking about it now, I'm sure no one would like any #8 holes with rubber plugs in them. I hope the holes might be acceptable; it's not the expense of the new oil pan, it's the time and hassle to rebuild it. Regarding modifications, it seems I see a lot of armor posts about modifying, cutting, trimming and other clearly visible modification AFTER approval. That seems to be a common solution to things. Some of the modifications I've seen look terrible, yet that seems to be what a lot of people do.
  11. I've modified my pack since approval, including adding the other antenna next to those parts (which rotates up when used). (the regular antenna goes on the threaded drain area on the top of the pack). These pieces are easily removable if needed.
  12. I also added a handle to the back side for something to grab when someone is helping me haul it up stairs. (I put a big wide piece of aluminum behind it so give it some surface area so the bolt heads wouldn't pull through)
  13. I've also added some padding to the inside of the tote since I like to keep things clean and un-scratched. In my quest to be able to dress myself, I've also added a couple of loops to the inside top of the tote to temporarily hold the arms and the E-11 (on those TK days). I used industrial spray adhesive to attach the fleece to the foam.
  14. When transporting my tote, I usually wear my pack to the event dressing area, but with the rifle case/sling it becomes awkward to try and carry it all, so I've come up with this simple way to attach the pack to the top of the tote. Then all you need to do is carry the rifle while wheeling your tote! I simply added a couple of clasps to the side/front of the tote, and then use the mating connectors from the pack to clip the pack to the tote. Hopefully this will be of use to others. For storage during non-use, I added a little velcro to the clasps on the tote to keep them from banging around.
  15. Wally Peters from Garrison Carida makes custom bags for helmets and guns. darthunderdog@aol.com
  16. And no, this one of her doesn't count!
  17. Great news Preston! Now we just need to get that awesome girlfriend of yours in some kind of costume!
  18. Do a search about the AM helmet. I'm on my phone so I don't have the link, but some of us have helped others with this helmet. The key is squeezing the cheeks together to get them closer to each other. DONT DRILL THE DIMPLES; they aren't quite in the right position. Search for posts within the last 6 months with AM 2.0. Hopefully you'll find the info.
  19. Wait! If you weather it, you can't be a regular TK!
  20. I wonder if we will have problems with kids trying to grab it....? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Perfect spot for a Rubies! More details, please.
  22. Why are you going through all of this if he's interested in any of it? I understand the challenge of making it yourself, but it's a lot of work. Can you make it for your size instead?
