  1. Who is the armour maker again? That looks fine, perhaps the chest plate is just large, hence my question. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hard to give you advice on the buttons. Perhaps some photos will give a better idea. There are a lot of things that I would either fix or redo completely in my build, but I wouldn't really have known when I was doing it, but they tend to be quite minor things that only I will know. The more obvious stuff...you may want to change. It's really up to you!
  3. I got the same fans but my head is quite big and I'm having trouble finding a good spot to place the battery/battery box. My USB battery is not from him since I'm in Canada but it's about the same size.
  4. Yes, I was catching up on your thread and I was going to suggest cleaning up those lines. Look forward to seeing your progress!
  5. Your lines look a bit close on those shoulder bridges! Leave some space from the bumps. Check some reference pics! I think if you just straighten your rough cuts, you'll probably be good.
  6. I wouldn't trim off the top of the thighs too much. Ideally you want to have minimum black showing. Go little by little when you do trim them. I'd suggest doing this near the end when you have everything else pretty much wearable. You'll get a better idea of how much you really need to trim off. For your shins...my shins were kind of tight, but yes, foam padding is a good way to go to keep things straight, assuming you cut them for the regular width cover strips (memory is telling me 25mm for those). I'm noticing that your chest plate looks much wider than your ab...are you bending the sides of your ab in? Hard to tell in your photos. If you put everything on like this again, try taking a photo of your sides with your arms raised. Might help us to figure out if anything might be weird here.
  7. I posted this on my garrison forum, but thought I'd also share this here: My wife and I got married in 2014 and as a huge surprise to us, my mother-in-law arranged for some members of the CCG (Capital City Garrison) to surprise us after the ceremony. I was pretty flabbergasted and didn't even catch on till a few minutes later when a TK asked to see my identification. I had heard of the 501st Legion before, but had never really looked into it that much. Our daughter was born in October 2015 and a few weeks later, we were in the ICU at CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) since she had a heart condition. Thankfully, that's all under control now, though we do visit CHEO on a monthly basis, but we were treated so well by everyone at CHEO that I started to think about how I could give back in some way. I had also previously been involved with Skate4Cancer, with funds raised going to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation (like pretty much everyone these days, my family's been impacted by cancer). So in January 2016, the thoughts about the 501st that had been floating around in my head since my wedding started to come to the forefront. I started doing some research and spent a lot of time on the FISD. I originally wanted to do an FOTK, but since the armour was not easily available, and someone in the garrison was selling his ATA armour, I jumped at the opportunity. I got that BBB in mid-February, spent all my spare time on my build, and was finally approved on 13 Apr 2016. I really never expected that I would finish this project so quickly. My initial goal was to finish by the end of summer! I wanted to give a quick thanks to everyone who checked in and gave feedback on my build thread. Couldn't have done it without you!
  8. Yeah! Congrats!
  9. Nah, I'm sure others are checking in! I might just be checking in at the right times that I answer your questions. If I get something wrong, someone else will chime in for sure!
  10. You still have return edge on the top of the wrist and a little on the left side where the cover strip will go in that photo. Chop it off! Hahah.
  11. This is mostly a matter of personal preference. I have elastic everywhere but I think I might switch my back to kidney to nylon. Elastic just gives you some flexibility.
  12. Yes, pencil width is generally the same! Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I used a paint mask sold to me by my GML. Haven't tried using painter's tape and cutting out my own. You might have bleed regardless. Be ready with thinner and toothpicks/q-tips depending on the amount to clean. Stripes should sit 1/4" from the cheek.
  14. I was able to keep a fair amount of return at biceps and forearms. I hear a lot of people remove the forearm edge at the elbow. illusionz_09 has big arms so maybe check his thread to see how much he removed...can't remember right now. Wrist edge should have no return so you shouldn't feel any of that roll when you feel it on the inside. Your TD looks good! I put some some velcro on the side touching the armour to prevent scratching.
  15. TK-28401 ready for duty! Will apply for EIB once I receive my Hyperfirm E-11. Gives me some time to also fix up little things here and there. Will also write up a lessons learned type thing and add to my initial post.
  16. TK-28401 requesting access. http://501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=21148
  17. "You talkin' ta me?!"
  18. I posted in my Garrison forums and here simultaneously as I went. I found that there is a lot of expertise here since a lot of us look at TK armour all the time whereas there are likely less knowing eyes in your Garrison. I found my Garrison forums particularly useful when it comes to finding supplies in town! You're making some good progress! I went with snaps as well and I am happy with my choice. Your ears look really good! I had such trouble with mine and trashed my first pair. Also, your ABS repair looks good too. Apparently Novus polish is really helpful with this kind of repair, though I can't say I've used it myself yet. My dremel skipped a few times throughout my build so I have small spots to fix, but I figure I'll do all that in one shot later on. Didn't affect approval as it's hard to see without taking a close look. Feel free to post whenever you have a question or you're doubting yourself! That's what we're here for! Keep up the good work!
  19. Yeah, was thinking of what Gary linked. You can achieve some bending with a hot water bath, but I didn't need to bend my sniper plate, so I'm not sure how difficult this might be.
  20. Yes check out the where to buy armour thread and then start doing some research! I recommend TK 1636's youtube videos. They were really helpful in introducing me to building, even though I didn't specifically follow exactly what he did. There are a lot of great build threads once you pick what style trooper you'd like to be.
  21. I would suggest taking a look at Centurion request threads. The titles all specify the armour maker and everyone lists their height. Might give you a good idea of how it might look.
  22. I think AP and RT-Mod are supposed to be better for taller/bigger troopers
  23. No armour is approved before being built. You can take Anovos armour and get approved to Centurion and you can take it and make it look like crap! It's all in the build! A few armour makers are not quite accurate enough and some parts may need to be replaced, as per the first post here.
  24. I'm approved, just awaiting my ID now! And I need to glue my brow trim (currently just sits there with pressure). It's sitting funny in my photos. Will have to take another photo sometime soon.
