1. Easier to see against the white armour? Dunno, mate.
2. Why's that? The guidelines state: "Belt For 501st approval: Belt face is made of plastic (TK ammo belt). The soft belt proper is made of canvas, or material with a canvas covering. Size must be 2.75” (70 mm) to 3.25”(83 mm) wide and not wider than the plastic portion of the belt. The color is be white to off-white. The drop boxes dangle from the sides of the front plastic belt (ammo belt) via white straps and are aligned under the plastic tabs of the ammo belt. " The belt I got is the advertised 3 1/4".
3. Yes mate, cost £9.50 delivered for the big 237ml bottle of No.2. Just tried it on the chest plate, which had some little doodle scratches from transit, and it has removed them... Good stuff! I might get a lambswool buffer attachment for the drill and have at it
4. Hi, I got one of these earlier this week. Very well made and has the plastic insert on left to stop holster sagging the belt.

Not sure about overpriced, but it was certainly one of the cheapest I could find in the UK.
5. Looking at the detail and beauty of these items, you can imagine what the original trilogy would have looked like if the propmakers had a bit more time or just cared a bit more... Truly remarkable attention to detail!
6. Thanks! It's not gonna be a pretty build
7. And with some black leather dye added, 'FREE - LOCK' embossed. Lettering is a bit big but it's the closest I have. Handle could still do with some shaping. Always easier to see where, when it's a uniform colour.
8. Well, that couldn't have worked out much better! I butchered the mesh pencil pot into two rough sheets. First, I used a washer to imprint the 'free-lock' circle. Then, sandwiched the handle between the two mesh sheets and treated it to a session in the vice...
9. I've just ordered some Novus No.2. I'll let you know how I get on with that.
10. I don't even know what that is, but thank you.
11. Sorry, sir. Gonna go team up with Rey
12. Yeah, I noticed the end bends when I looked again at the pics I have enough of the bar left to try again, which I probably will. And I think I know why the difference in end length came about... I reckon i'd bend the bar too far round the cylinder before bending it back on itself. Oh well, live and learn. Imagine how it would have looked without your tutorial Thanks again.
13. I've noticed a lot of folk dismissing SDS stuff as 'not up to scratch', so to speak, on various parts of the forum, but they rarely go into specifics of what parts or aspects of the design they dislike. Personally, I prefer the Anovos' sharper lines around the eyes, but hard to compare a Hero vs Stunt directly?
14. Yes, thanks, i've now given up on the idea. Boring conversation anyway
15. Hi, I have the same armour. Only tried a small section with Showroom Shine. Kinda worked but not toooo glossy. I've heard Novus polish is good, but i've yet to try it. maybe requires a little mechanical help (buffer with sheepskin)?
16. Wee bit more work on the handle - shaped a 'U' shape at the top, same contour as the 40mm pipe. Still needs to be way rounder.
I'm currently looking for a bit of close mesh to cut to size, so I can emboss the chequering. My pencil pot has exactly the right shape but don't really want to butcher it!
17. Vern, just wanted to say thanks for your superb tutorial. Even a mechanical dunce like myself can at least make something (half) decent with your guidance. So I bought some 25mm aluminium strip (£3 odds for 1m) and had a go. I reckon the diameter of the grey pipe I have on my pre-made detonator may be slightly different, as there wasn't as much strip left for the final bend as yours (?). Anyway, happy with the results. Just ignore the two holes in the pipe, i'll need to fill them.
18. Hey, thanks Joseph, that's very kind of you! If I was going for Centurion, i'd take up your generous offer but not planning on it, for the moment, at least. Thanks anyway, really appreciate it But just thinking about it, these little things might be handy in the workshop for a variety of things
19. Thanks, I did notice that.
.
Still, they work really well at securing the strapping, and are available free.
20. Hi folks. I was perusing the confectionary aisle in a supermarket this evening and came across an empty box of Cadbury's Dairy Milk. It DID contain 200g bars. More interestingly, it also contained an ingenius little device that keeps the chocolate bars pushed to the front of the display box. This was made up of a corrugated cardboard thingy and a single (verrry strong) band, which provides the mechanism, i'd assume. . Anyway, I took some of the bands, after clearing it with the lady who was tidying the aisle. . Now, it may be the case that the elastic for holding together shoulder straps should be white? OK, then this is no use, as it is semi translucent, but it's a perfect fit:
21. Cut the pocket off an old pair of cargo trousers (pants?), attach a strap and wear around neck, under chest armour?
22. Is the Anovos complete ensemble "501st ready"? Or what mods need to be done for initial acceptance?
23. Lol, like I said, I can't see much call for them up here in Scotland but our some of our American cousins probably use them more.
24. (Scope isn't assembled, maybe that's why it looks weird??)
