1. And both barrel parts nestled into the blaster. Obviously, the copper pipe will be painted black, but may weather it so some copper shows through.
2. Loving some of the time-saving bits of this blaster - Whilst drilling all those holes, I contemplated using an internal barrel. It just so happens, there is a 15mm cradle for a 15mm pipe to sit in Nice! Also, put some white filler in the cavities for weight.
3. Drilled all the holes. I left sections undrilled. One will be for some kind of rubber grip, one will be to add 'something', haven't got that far yet. Mocked-up inside the blaster.
4. Alrighty, thought i'd drill the barrel sleeve vent holes today. Used the 40mm pipe template (laminated, so I can re-use). Then used an awl to puncture pilot holes.
5. It does. If nothing else, it's cleaner, too! It'll never get as glossy as those acrylic-capped suits but it's much better than before. I did use an improvised contraption on the drill - a backing arbor and some sponge/cloth, and it worked really well on the only part I used it on, which had a few light scratches (chest plate), which is now pretty reflective. You can tell the difference by touch, too. A lot smoother.
6. Hi, yeh, I gave all parts a polish, mostly by hand because of the contours of the armour. I need to buy a smallish buffer attachment for the drill. It wasn't helping my tennis elbow!
7. This pic shows how the pipe will fit within the 'cradle'. Snug fit indeed. This is the little internal 'barrel', gizmo. Oddly, it spins round when the trigger is pulled. Has a few very weak LEDs along the side and on tip.
8. Plastic muzzle cap was removed with a bit of gentle persuasion. The plastic is VERY brittle, and really didn't appreciate me trying to cut it, so I drilled a series of holes where I needed to remove the plug, which will allow the 40mm pipe to be inserted. Once done on both sides, the bits just snapped easily out. Then sanded the inside edges smooth(ish) with Dremel and sanding drum.
9. So, started off like this: Opened it up. All screws are same size. Handy for putting it back together!
10. I've noticed that "Lesser-thought-of" armour posts mostly get ignored. Mostly.
Probably just a 'If you can't say anything good' mentality?
11. I'd bought that for polishing armour and removing little scratches, etc. It removed some black holster marks off mine really easily, too.
12. Hey folks, got one of these: Galactic Wars Space Gun Blaster with Flashing Lights and Sounds (One Size, Grey/Blue/Black) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019OKSK7G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_8mEZwbAJJS4CG (Not from Amazon, but direct from Toyrific (still £9.99 delivered). The front vented part looks somewhat similar to the DT-57 heavy blaster, so I thought i'd use up some of the 40mm black pipe I bought for my E-11 to build a made-up heavy blaster. I'll kinda make it up as I go along but have taken the blaster to bits to check the innards, weight it with Plasticine, etc, then drill some vent holes in the 40mm pipe. I'll post up some pics of the butchered blaster in a bit.
13. Blasters can be a money pit My scratch build cost me under £10, though. Looks like £2.50 worth
14. Yeh, I noticed that. Already did a complete scratch build E-11 and used the template. Might get that kit anyway, as it's pretty cheap.
15. Yeh the RS stuff looks nice, and gets very good feedback. If you were a bit closer, you'd be welcome to have a look at my SDS. I'll probably start saving the pennies for an RS kit myself, but happy with the SDS just now.
16. What kit are you leaning towards?
17. Thanks, i've just registered on the UKG site.
18. I was surprised - despite the name 'weld' - just how quickly the pipe weld grabs! Not much room for 'tweaking'.
19. Hyperfirm not available in UK?
RS Propmasters not supplying blasters unless with a kit?
Doopydoos always out of stock?
SDS blaster looks reeeeeally rough on the up-close videos i've seen.

So where do I get a decent-looking, reasonably priced E-11 in the UK??
20. I didn't have a) The time, b. The inclination, c) The patience and d) The requisite skills, to do a build-from-kit, so I bought a ready-to-wear SDS. People already seem to frown upon SDS stuff, so I wasn't bothered about them frowning upon my lack of self-build
21. I got the exact same one. He's been proudly displaying the stormtrooper armour Only took about 3 days from Germany! only issue I had was the jaunty leg. I'd assumed the leg could be swiveled to straighten it, but apparently not. Great value, though. Edit: I had an issue with the hands wearing gloves, as his fingers are fused together, so nicked a pair of the wife's black tights, cut them down and put the feet of the tights on his hands, taping them on the forearm.
22. Ok, the lack of any folding stock effort was annoying me, so at the extreme cost of £0, I bolted one on
23. Is it an SDS outfit?
