The Last Jedi (TLJ) Stormtroopers - a first look
JAFO replied to tkrestonva's topic in TLJ Stormtrooper
That leaked pic is concept art so carries all the usual red lighting treatments/flares that come with the First Order. The cap is inconsistent in size between the various art. Fun times! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
JAFO'S FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPER BUILD (Jimmiroquai)
JAFO replied to JAFO's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I have but things like fans and audio were put on the back burner so I could get finished and approved. To be honest, I lasted the six-hours just fine without all the ancillary stuff but I'll still put them in. I've decided to spray my bucket with the same paint as my kit so will do it all after that. Welcome! Look forward to your build and to seeing another FOTK join the ranks. Jimmi's kit is great to work with [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

JAFO'S FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPER BUILD (Jimmiroquai)
JAFO replied to JAFO's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hi mate I have built my own system but don't yet have it in play. I started it before my kit arrived then put it aside to focus on kit/approval. I decided to create a set-up that would pump sound through the helmet vents. I bought an Aker, took it apart then wired it up to two old laptop speakers. The speakers are affixed directly under the vents. It sounds great even without going through any processor or app. I'm no electronics expert but it was very easy to assemble. If you want pics let me know and I might set-up an online folder rather than repost here. I'm just doing some mods to my bucket and will then be working to put it all in place and give it a good run at a troop. Your set-up sounds perfectly good. Could you use a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver kit? All the best [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
The Last Jedi (TLJ) Stormtroopers - a first look
JAFO replied to tkrestonva's topic in TLJ Stormtrooper
Just to add a little more fun to the TD conversation here is another pic of the 'Executioner'. The leaked art earlier this year shows the same trooper/art as the pinball, HOWEVER, it has the extended end cap per the Activity Book artwork. -
Looks like Tapatalk Achievement has been unlocked! Great work to all those who made this happen

MOST EXCELLENT!

That's correct... -

I'm wondering what's going on with the TD. In an earlier leaked photo of an 'Executioner' the cap looked the same but in the recently revealed book cover it looks twice as long and completely black. Just an incorrect artwork touch-up or something altogether new? -
TLJ Executioner / Judicial Laser Ax
JAFO replied to gmrhodes13's topic in Weapons of the First Order
Awesome work Q! Is it a Vibro Ax or a Force Ax ... we don't know yet! Get a whole lot of blue led wire between those blades and then you'll complete the look! -
It's amazing how many pinholes present themselves after priming. You think you've sanded the kit within an inch of it's life but there are always more holes! You'll find the shoulder bells will sit a little higher with gaskets. If you're nervous about slicing the yoke to add supports you could consider adding some foam (or similar) to the underside of the shoulder bell to help it sit higher. You would just need to make sure it wasn't visible.

From a recent pic I saw looks like we may need a new TD as well. The cylinder on the left hand side appears to extend much further than the current TD.

JAFO'S FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPER BUILD (Jimmiroquai)
JAFO replied to JAFO's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey Brian! Here you go... I double stacked the magnets but you could easily use abs pieces of Apoxie Sculpt to build up height. You want them as flush to the edge of the cauldron as possible. I also added Velcro circles (the soft side) to prevent scuffing on the armour. Hope that helps -
You're killin' it! Great work Daniel

Just one of the many, many continuity and dressing errors in the movie. Don't look too closely or you will see white gaffer tape and cracks all over the place

Perfect! Thanks for clarifying Paul. I couldn't see an algorithm in play regarding visits/replies, etc, etc. Good to know. Thanks!

JAFO'S FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPER BUILD (Jimmiroquai)

Hey Bryan. I didn't need to shape mine. Wondering if you have the v3 kit - I have v4 and the knee plates were drastically different and more formed. Wondering if you could get a set from Jim or find someone who could 3D print a new set based on a design. Cheers Darren -
I've seen many kits with these approved. Most from within the U.S. but some from elsewhere. You can always contact Teresa (Soulart) if you want an upgrade.

Looking for some illumination on PINNED POSTS, particularly in ONGOING SALES PROJECTS. How does it work? Seems arbitrary. Does someone make the decision to pin posts. Can requests be made? Love to know more!
-
You'll need replacement yoke too - or decal - as it has black shoulders! Do you think they would have made it THAT easy for us!
-
It has been fantastic seeing this come together. Admirable work as always Jim!
-
So that's a new bucket, new shoulder bells and a new yoke - that's half painted black too!
-
Good to know. I might mod it sometime but I guess it's closer to the correct size than all the other approved Jimmi kits out there! Trouble with the current TD sculpt is that there are two definite circles which can be filled and it looks like both are incorrect based on your measurement. Interestingly there are no pics of the right side TD in the CRL. It's about the only thing you don't get a good look at for reference.

Tony... Just to clarify, the first image i posted was the one the GML sent me for reference. This second image was my first round approval shot - the incorrect one. Here's a shot of the modified and, now, approved right side TD.
