TK - 44701 Requesting ESB EIB Status [AM 2.0][527]
Trogdor replied to Superbee's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Congrats! Well deserved after all your hard work. -
You just want a rough trim to see what they will cover. You can always cut more plastic off its putting it back that's hard.
-
Pretty sure he meant tape. I used strong magnets as I didn't have clamps that fit. The idea is something temporary that let you look at it and see what needs to be done for your look.

Gluing or clamping sand paper down on a flat surface helps sand those long straight bits or even tricky spots like the wrist end of the forearm. (For those that don't have a belt sander)

Looks great to me! My only suggestion would be to black sharpie the part of the tab nearest the seam and it woul be invisible when your wearing it. Hopefully I can get mine looking this good. -
Jamo's ANH-S TK (first) build [MTK]

I used a moving sale sign bought at Walmart. Thin and very flexible. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32163-trogdors-first-build-mtk/page-6#entry455745 -
Jamo's ANH-S TK (first) build [MTK]

Just a warning before you get too far with the belt assembly. I did something similar and i had puckering at the rivets at the end of the ammo pouches. I ended up using sign plastic inserts. The plus is it supports the holster and blaster really well. May not be accurate assembly but i had to disassemble to get a clean look. Just FYI -
Congrats!

Glad to see your still at it. Because of all the work I did on my thighs I never re-did the inner cover strips, also I've read multiple posts where some claim it's not necessary. As someone who hasn't trooped officially yet though, the biggest thing they have helped me with so far is making it easier to do the outer cover strips.

Hope you hit your goal.

Well done!

Looking good so far. You may want to double up on the hangers though. That one looks like it's at its weight limit.

A late congrats and thanks for sharing the fixes.

Trogdor's first build (mtk)
Trogdor replied to Trogdor's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
So instead of writing stuff with older pictures I thought I would share my fix for the belt puckering. I decided to do it the hard way by using a seam ripper and removing the velcro and end of belt stitching. This opened the belt like a tube except for the rivets joining the plastic to canvas. I then did some rough measurements between the stitches and cut a piece of for sale sign plastic for each end of the belt. Making sure the colored part of the sign was facing the inside of the belt I cut a notch for the rivet, rounded all the corners with sand paper and slid the plastic in the tube (some trimming was involved as I sewed the belt my self). I made the wear's right side plastic a bit longer to help support the weight of the holster. Time will tell but my hope is that I can move the plastic back and forth locking and unlocking on the rivet to store the belt more compactly but still securely troop. Hind sight I probably should have bought a belt or done more research on construction. I still have to sew the velcro back on but this will address one of the biggest thing that bugs me when I look at my photos. -

Thanks guys. The help made it easier. I know I need to fix the belt, any other advice for EI and centurion? -

A huge thanks to FISD especially all those that suffered the questions and freak outs during the build process.

TK13881 now reporting for duty! I still have to write up stuff but I had to post the good news. -

Jc, Thank you. Your thread was very helpful and I really appreciate you sharing the info as we were both trying the apoxie sculpt. I have some more in progress photos and some cautionary tales and thank you to send but I had to get this sent in and get some feedback. -
Comfys ATA ANH Stunt - First Build!
Trogdor replied to Comfy Turtle's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Any word on aproval. Looks good to me. One possible improvement though would be to trim the outer part of the knee guard. It will blend in more and won't risk catching anything in transport. Hopefully your approval comes soon. -

Alright after so much sanding and painting and novus polish this is what I came out with: I took my photos and submitted for basic approval tonight. I have more tweaks but the more I look the more I feel I need to change. Here is what I sent in. What do you guys think? Let me know what you think, remember I am trying for the higher levels. Wish me luck... -
Looks awesome. Where did you get that hard hat insert? I have been trying to decide on helmet interiors.

Thank you for looking into it. I'd be interested in knowing the fix if it's not custom code. I come from an it background and you never know when you will come across something in the future. Looks fixed! Nice.
