  1. The lenses the MRCE comes with are far too thin. It's like looking through a mountain dew bottle and people can see your eyes. You'll need to get darker lenses. The tube stripes size and coloring are wrong, not sure about the number of them though. All the screen used helmets had three screws in the ears, 2 on either side of the bumpy gray part and one on the bottom lip just above the neck trim.
  2. I'm fairly certain the only mods for 501st entry are: Replace the tube stripes. New lenses. Three screws in each ear.
  3. Okey dokey. Just worried I'll goof up in excitement and whatnot. thank you for all of your help!
  4. I guess if I manage to do it right it won't ruin the shine. Know of any places that sell ABS polish other than ebay?
  5. The FX armor was a poor yet good choice for a first armor kit (for the simplicity). It's a shame it's like 40 sizes too large. I'm afraid of shortening the shoulder bells. Not the cutting part, but the finishing, making them look all clean and nice. Thanks for the tips!
  6. I have a fairly small head and the MR CE fits me fine. I can put it on without turning my head sideways and the only padding I have is on the left ear, so that when I have my mic set on the earpiece and padding pretty much keep my helmet on snug. The stock lenses that it comes with are really bad, it's like looking through/out of a mountain dew bottle. But you can see out if it very well. (I actually drove around the block with it on to show off to some neighbors! I'm a rascal I know ) TK-1422 offers FANTASTIC lenses for the MR CE. Smoke and Emerald Green colors.
  7. Also! In case you can't view the image
  8. All that's left is my thermal detonator! --------------
  9. http://www.sallybeauty.com/Latex-Gloves/BL...default,pd.html Those are the ones I bought
  10. Nah, just regular. I bought some recently for like 5$
  11. Are Latex Rubber gloves (like beauty salon gloves lol) 501st acceptable?
  12. Where, in your opinion, is the best place to "start over" with when it comes to upgrading your armor to a more accurate/better fitting set? Do you start with the Helmet and then purchase your shiny new armor later? Or do you scrap your armor and keep whatever helmet you have?
  13. Looks like the helmet is an oakley's ROTJ fiberglass copy based on what I saw at starwarshelmets.com No clue about the armor. :c
  14. LE for looks while trooping if you don't mind the risk of scuffing it and whatnot. Get an FX cast of black from ebay or contact TM and try and coax him into making another black suit out of HIPS I think it was. If you search around the boards you'll find the thread he posted in.
  15. Just found out something neat while trying to cover up my mistake. The white silicone sealant used to fill in the gap in the MRCE helmets will actually REMOVE the devcon glue from the plastic. If it doesn't remove anything, it will at least cover it up. I'm unsure if this has any adverse effects on the plastic but I'll find out soon if there are any!
  16. Your hand I'd assume. Wear some thick work gloves. Also, while this thread is up, do you use a dremel to cut the bell shorter and then use sandpaper to smooth out the edge?(medium 100 I think)
  17. PM DMAC. He's got some really nice helmet padding. He should have a thread or two on the first few pages of the For Sale forum
  18. As I come down to the final bits and pieces of assembling my armor, I began to wonder how everyone's assembled their belts. I don't have the funds for a canvas belt yet. But I assume that most of you have used these.
  19. Is the third ABS Strip what you used from the FX kit to make the little snap holder?
  20. Maybe try fitting it into a Comm Unit? Then you can really have use for that prop!
  21. Longshot here, but maybe you could cut out one of the gray and black parts of the ears (bumpy part) and make it so you could push down on it to send radio?
  22. What's good for removing glue that squeezed out of the seam? I forgot to use painters tape in my haste.
  23. Shiny gray? Or like a smoke color? If its a smoke you want then TK-1422 is your man. He might even be able to make you some shiny ones if you ask him. Not entirely sure though.
  24. Well when I'm sanding it, I'm not sure if it's gone. The color is still there. But I'm PRETTY sure that it is gone.
  25. While assembling my last calf piece, I didn't get enough glue on the center part, so I took it apart and let it dry. Can I just glue over it or, sand it then glue over it?
