You didn't mention if it was a chafing issue, Jim, but you can definitely (and should) remove all of the return edges from the backs of the thighs. This will help immensely. A couple of other issues which are easy fixes as well. Your sniper knee plate looks like it tends to get caught behind the front of the left thigh. I had this same problem, so I added a piece of 1 inch thick foam, (about 1 1/2 inches wide, 10 inches long) inside the front of the calf. Problem solved. It may just be me (with my terrible vision), but it appears that the rivet in your thigh ammo pack is a bit small. It should be 3/16ths wide, and painted white. If indeed it is too small, let me know and I will send you the correct ones at no charge. I guess to are aware that the rear cover strip on your right calf is missing. Battle damage? LOL Looking forward to your EIB submission soon!

LoneRanger's ESB TK Build
justjoseph63 replied to TheLoneRanger's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I know you probably didn't realize it, but you should have taken off the return edge before final fitting/gluing. The reason being is that once you do a complete removal, (as in Marc's photo) it will make the opening a lot wider, and may cause it to be too loose. It won't affect basic approval if you don't remove it, though. The inside cover strips can be a little short. The length is not an issue for approval, and they are simply there for added strength. -
HWT Pack Build Thread

If you still have access to the inside of the back, some coarse thread screws will help. -
You got that right, brother!

HWT Pack Build Thread
justjoseph63 replied to CrookKnight's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Looks GREAT, Shawn.. congrats on a job well done! If I could make one small suggestion, it would be to shorten the length of the blue plastic cone at the bottom by about 3 inches or so. The reason being is that you would be surprised how many times this part will get bumped, accidentally knocked around, and can crack. The shorter length will help. Trust me. -
One inch elastic, Douglas, and glad to hear you are aiming for Centurion!

Supply list for your OT TK build....

Good question, Jaime. If someone who has used this could post the info. here, I will add it to the main list. Thanks! -
Blaster weathering....
justjoseph63 replied to TDStig's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Like Mark said, sometimes less is more... just remember not to weather the T-tracks. Also, the scope should be done with brass colored highlighting paint.. I used the "dry brush" technique, and just hit the areas where it would normally show wear and tear. Here are some photos of it if that helps. -
I have been having various tech problems recently... Access to the site has been sketchy for the last 2 days, and often I can't get on at all. This is the message that shows up: (below) I spoke with A.C., and he is having the same issue, so I guess it's not just me. Also, posting is sporadic at best. After hitting "Post New Topic", submit, etc. it takes up to 5 minutes to occur, if at all. Editing is working fine, though. Just a heads-up, and thanks! Welcome, Steve! You didn't mention whether or not you have your armor, so I would start here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ As for becoming a Heavy Weapons Trooper, I can highly recommend that route... (I may be a little biased, though). You will need a pack, and there are several great build threads located here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/45-heavy-weapons-trooper/. I used a mash-up of 2 different builds using Tony's (ukswrath) http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/30034-hwt-backpack-build-part-1/and Charles' (Templar726), http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/30222-templars-hwt-pack-build/. If I can be of any help, just let me know, and best of luck to the both of you!

TK-71987 Requesting [ANH] Centurion Status (SDS)[266]
justjoseph63 replied to Lord Darzu's topic in Request Centurion Status
Mark is absolutely correct on that, Fernando. It takes some time to put them on Photobucket, and then add them to the thread, but it will make your submission go faster if Andrew and/or Tony can view them all in one place. Plus, you can more easily show off all your hard work to all the rest of us!! -
Ab to kidney rivets causing cracks in armor
justjoseph63 replied to DeceptiSean's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Excellent point. Mark. That is one of the things I was wondering as well. It may just be me, or the lighting, but they (the rivets) seem awfully small and look like they have very rounded heads. If you need replacement rivets and/or washers, Sean, just PM me and I'll send you a set, no charge. -
Ab to kidney rivets causing cracks in armor

Could you post close-up photos of the back side and and rivets themselves? -
Bought the armor. Now to wait.
justjoseph63 replied to Bevs1865's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
It seems to me that it would be much less expensive to purchase the soft goods separately... A set of compression pants on Amazon runs about 8 to 12 dollars, and the same for the shirt. Darman's neck seal (WAY better quality) is less than $$40.00. Rubber gloves... $5.00 at Lowe's, Home Depot, or online. -
TK-30773 Reporting in and sounding off!
justjoseph63 replied to Racermouse's topic in Newly Approved Members - Sound Off!
Glad to hear that you got your armor sorted out and fitting well, Rasmus! Hopefully you will stay active here on the boards, as there is always something new going on. It also gives you the chance to be a part of out "Troopers helping Troopers" mantra, and pass on your knowledge. Best of luck to you, sir! -
I haven't done this before, Steve, but it looks pretty straightforward. You will definitely need to drill a hole in the ring mount first, which needs to be about the same diameter as the ring itself. Then you could cut a small slit in the bottom, push the ring up into place, and then hit it with a bit of CA (super) glue to seal it back. I would recommend sanding down the ring lightly and hitting it with a coat or two of satin or flat black enamel spray paint before installing it, though.

AM 2.0 Shoulder Bells Help
justjoseph63 replied to GoofySGB's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
That does seem a bit strange, Stephen... how old are the different sets?. I have an AM 2.0 kit, and mine are shaped like the one on the right. I don't think (but I may be wrong) that you can alter the shape of the ones on the left. Hopefully someone can be of more help.... This is a close-up of my AM 2.0 -
As long as you ordered from one of the vetted armorers on here, you can be sure it will arrive. Custom builds can take time, so unfortunately it is a case of "hurry up and wait"..

Braces/Suspenders?
justjoseph63 replied to bells0's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I have 2 sets of Ty's thigh garters, Chris, and I LOVE EM'! So easy to use, and they never, ever slip. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/29991-thigh-garter-system/
