  1. gary, the key to our vetted sellers is that accuracy is not the only factor, AM armor, or any kind of armor made from fibreglass might sound interesting, but the truth is mathias is simply being diplomatic, and accurate in his statements. if you want a quality representation then you should look for screen accuracy in design and workmanship. RT mod, and AM armors are made for larger people than screen shot. screen shot individuals are 160-190lbs 5 11 and very slender waisted 34-36 inches at the largest part of the waist. AM armor is for waist sizes above 37" and is designed for chest and arm/leg sizes above screen used. for example the shin/calf armor on screen accurate is 17" thighs are 23" for AM or RT mod armor it's above 20" shin/calf and way over 23" for a thigh. fibreglass is not used in the 501st as a sign of durability, it's actually a sign of a bad seller.
  2. I would use sheet metal sides to the trigger group, laser cut side panels from the originals. the replica would have resin casts of all interior parts in the group. the pins could also be resin? or maybe aluminum? and a resin trigger made from a more high impact resin. this way you could make the assembly a hybrid, and it could have a spring, and a micro switch "bay" sculpted into it. it would slide into the lower trigger group sleeve, and we'd have a working trigger group for electronics. the goal being to replicate the interior of the trigger group. this would be groundbreaking! or you could go with a mech style trigger and let the bolt action with a real spring activate the micro switch at the base of the barrel assembly. ( with this option you'd have to make the spur larger to use with a thicker walled receiver tube. ) imagine all the people... getting a kit with PVC pipe, sheet metal grip frame. resin trigger group and resin parts. next let's upgrade the clip area to use a resin replica cut off clip, with a working magazine group? making a replica trigger group is probably the most desired aspect of an e-11 I just sent christmas funds to help with the project lou! happy holidays!
  3. if I had a blaster formed in black plastic, I would still paint it flat black, drybrush it with silver and then cover that with matte clear. the grips of course should be formed in black plastic, and then they would be perfect out of the box. you would not want to paint the entire blaster silver, that's really a waste of paint. with a system with a grip like this we should be able to have a working trigger group too!
  4. the first examples show why the second example is better. from too wide to right.
  5. there are two kinds of ready to wear options. basic, and trooper. mark does the basic style. another builder makes the trooper version.
  6. the scopes and counters will be unlike any other designs made. look for it!
  7. I'm sure I could send simple parts like a trigger group, and guard, taken apart.
  8. see you guys over at the IOC... woot! nice job on the dual EIB BJ :pint1: :cantinabandf:
  9. the holy grail! only flaw is the trigger guard. you can get another one via apex gun parts. probably could get another trigger group too. interested in some help?
  10. not bad for a first try! suggestions: use thicker leather. make your cuts cleaner on the top strapping. square off the handle strap 1" from the snap. try 1/4" hillman screw posts for the top strapping. looks like a great addition to an EIB trooper application? does to me.
  11. sir, the entire legion of FISD has parts... not the makers... many times there are parts available. even ATA makes individual parts... don't be so hasty!
  12. 600 g is way too hard.
  13. being in my 50's and a sci fi fan since childhood I was branded a 'geek' back when that was an insult. starting with Elvis presley, his white jumpsuit was my first official costume as a child of 7 or 8. my family was in the record store biz and we lived in las vegas at the time. was interesting going to a few elvis concerts wearing the jumpsuit. got lot's of attention from waiters, and fans in line. I have a photo and I'll share that soon: then I moved on to Star Trek, my first costume was a mirror mirror kirk. also have a photo, and that will also go up. after that I did some logan's run sandman costumes, a ripped up movie version, a robe, and finally the full sandman costume with follower and gun. in 1976-1978 I went to conventions all across california to showcase my interest in costuming. I thought I might be able to meet other art minded people and really wanted to study film and special effects. I met the original authors of the book logan's run, and had the chance to sit and talk with george clayton johnson for about 2 hours, all alone sitting on the floor. had the chance to shoot an original 'bill blake' sandman gun... we had to do it in the bathroom to keep the fire marshall at bay! when Star Wars hit theaters I made a deal with the manager of the place, and I went in different costumes for most of the summer as part of our deal. the deal was- wear a costume and get in free, simply stand outside and entertain the line of moviegoers. and buy snack bar food. I was hooked. then don post made the worst helmets ever, and we all hated them! my best piece ever was an original screen used battlestar galactica blaster. 75$ back in 1981 what a steal! now I'm hip deep in 4 suits of armor. star wars is my home now.
  14. nice lookin kit there BJ! only thing I noticed is that your holster's strapping appears not to be 3/4" wide, the handle strap, and belt straps appear to be 1" thick? or maybe even thicker? and you might want to consider adding rivets to the knee plate? (not a listed detail but in ROTJ they did have rivets!)
  15. high performance enamel and plastic primer wetsand first w 1200g
  16. put up a thread asking for extra parts people do offer them?
  17. I have like 4 pairs of em... never can have too many boots!
  18. cannon distance is large tab and 5 ribs up to the top. change for short or thick chested builds.
  19. Events like this are very sad indeed. doubtful that this has any effect upon the legion, as we all do know that our mission is the safe and responsible representation, handling of our costumes, not only our blasters, but our bearing as well, shares very little with these kinds of events. I understand any concerns this may cause, but we all know that blasters have little to do with situations like this. we should always follow the legion standards when present at events. my heart goes out to all of the victims of senseless violence, not only in this case, but in every case, my prayers go out to the ones who have lost their lives for no apparent reason, only that we do live in a violent and ever changing world. we always have our prayers, and our hearts to follow to show us all the best way to represent charity. May the force be with all of us. plus one for me ingrid! we're with you!
  20. series 400 counters were used in the production of automated systems in use in the 1940's
  21. I've worked on power cells, scopes and hengstlers for a few years now. with the team efforts we're learning almost every single aspect of the star wars universe. thanks and credit goes out to andy 19422 marv bluesnaggletooth playfulwolfcub sskunky synaptix deckard gino bilhag there are a few more to be added to the list above. I'm working hard to gather all the data together. members of the RPF, blogs, constant photographic elements and detailed research all works it's way into single threads like this one. this is not my own personal information, it's a gathering of as much detail into one possible thread, from all relevant sources. we all owe it to this thread to put the elements in place. perhaps we could include all the extra parts on an e-11 this information would include: ANH T Tracks Scopes Counters blank firing weapons resin casts demilled non blank firing ESB T Tracks Scopes blank firing weapons Resin cast variations demilled non blank firing ROTJ Mgc versions resin cast versions blank firing weapons have information to share? STEP UP!
  22. eventually this will be worked up into a complete tutorial on how to put them on an e-11. spreading the information around is great! that's why this hobby has become so much fun. the history has gone from only a few knowing accuracy, to an entire legion of armor and blaster experts by the open source format of sharing information and detail.
