  1. hey there smitty, we all will miss you during the time. let's all round up Three Cheers for smitty! HERE HERE HERE let's hope that after a while you'll be back!
  2. yeah, I'm working on getting photos with the right size to compare with the other photos on site. I can see the dimensions used, and the size of the trooper compared to the background is key to getting paul's suggestions correct. I wrote a post in the tech center and someone ERASED THE POST, and wrote me a silly letter which has a tone like I've done somthing "WRONG" by coding and putting up an example of my suggestion for the EIB page. I wrote a letter to paul previous to this whole conversation and he asked me to post my examples for coding into the tech center. so it looks to me like some of the staff just make snap judgements and erase posts, and then send nasty letters. very childish. the letter assumes that I need some kind of "permission" to help the site improve. the letter makes several assumptions. I've removed any referance to exactly WHO sent this letter because I want to keep that part of this discussion private out of respect for the person who acted in this manner. the first assumption is that I made a page without permission. the second assumption is that I didn't have any conversations with command staff the third assumption is that the page is public and intended to somehow "replace" the actual correct page. copies of the letter can be provided to any command staff who wishes to look. please take a moment to check out this code I created for the EIB page. it properly credits the code found at: Dynamic Drive Expando script. the example page can be found here. this idea, once accepted or rejected will be removed from my servers. thanks. vern
  3. I'd be happy to make any edits you'd suggest. standards are good to follow. I'm willing to do a lot of suggestions. looks like one of my posts in the tech center got erased. hmm... I guess some don't know about this new conversation. I'm sure that Terrell has a faster setup for the blend. I can make images available for him if needed.
  4. PM me and I'll give you the inside track on how to do this mod.
  5. a couple of examples... This one would lead to the card.
  6. I know this sounds like a lot, but in photos it will be simpler to see: a color change of the DLT-19 to denote a multi-EIB award. the star for multiple is a nice touch and should be kept. a military style marker across the EIB badge itself, a rotating gif for the different poses. lower left hand colored numbers. keep in mind that with all of the classifications of EIB's possible I know that I can do 3 versions of the EIB program just with ANH and ESB regular TK. with the other EIB programs it might be interesting to have markers on the EIB in roman numbers. with IV V and EU so a multiple EIB badge might be represented thus: you could have silver for 2 gold for 3... use red roman numerals... ect. rotating poses of the costume with backgrounds that are movie specific? a marker in the upper corner like a trading card. showing the movie number and costume classification letters. I think it would be cool to have a trading card like option to have the photo rotate on the front for each costume, and then when the card is clicked you'd get a "reverse side" image with all the details and screenshots of a trooper. this reverse side image would be presented in a front/back design with options to print. the card graphic would resize larger when clicked allowing it to be zoomed, printed or scrolled. the rest of the page would be in the background but not clickable. below the trooper's "card" we could have a legend like a map icon. (the roman numerals) or TK classification icons. if a trooper had 2 EIB's in ANH alone then how would you represent that? I'd have the letters progress from black to red to gold the IV marker would be colored for the appropriate number of ANH costumes EIB'd Black = 1 gold =2 red =3 a key would explain the badge, and it's markers graphically with text descriptions. I can show more examples and even code some working examples.
  7. I have seen boards for sale in china that can do sounds from an sd card. but taking it to the level that IRV has with the lighting controlers built in, and the switches. is another story altogether. all those luxeon led's, bargraph controler, timers, ect. plecterlabs is the best soundboard for a prop that anyone could possibly want! we should start a purchase thread and have a merchandise officer handle the sales from here. maybe even have plecterlabs sign up here and conduct sales threads on our forum? just thinking out loud?
  8. john madden says: BOOM, and scribbles on the screen... are you ready for some football!
  9. I'm blaming you for all of this fun thayne! well perhaps I should reconsider, and just blame george... thanks everyone for the kind words, and the greetings. it's because of all of you that lead me to this. up next. TX and TKC
  10. IT's all your fault Thayne! well perhaps I'll blame all of this on george... thanks to all of you who showed me the way! regards, vern
  11. Thanks for the suggestions, I completely re-did the existing ear caps with putty, shoestring tips for the bumps. I added putty over the 4, since they are too small on the vertical axis. then I built up a layer, added the shoestring tips, and then sanded to finish and fill and sand again. painted with 1138 grey, and lined with automotive pinstripe tape. since these photos: The shoulder straps have since been glued to the chest plate in front, and have velcro in back. there are lots of troopers who have the back glued down, but I still have them floating in back. for the ESB photos I changed the amount of float, for the ANH photos I raised the amount of float. shoulder straps don't need any heat treatment they bend just fine on their own. as a matter of fact, I'm going to fill the back sides with glue to make them stronger. and using a heat gun on armor is really a bad idea. the shoulder straps are weak enough already, using heat on them would only make them weaker in the long run, and they don't need that. ya know, and the more I look at this kit, I know I can make even more small mods to get it looking ever more accurate. I'll be updating these photos even though I know they are good to go. here's an example from my ESB kit, which is the same as this one.
  12. that trim does not take anything off the vertical dimension.
  13. working Dring and hengstler with lighted scope. MRCE completely moded and painted. there ya go terrell! thanks! I even added the 3 bumps to the mrce mod. there are so many things I want to add to this kit it's not even funny! Beverages, a restroom, my own local bar and smoking room, the internet. are all those things going to fit inside trooper armor?
  14. hello out there, I just thought this comparison photo might help the people out there. I've been talking with paul a bit about the top of the AP kit left thigh. I made this photo out of the original he posted and added my own trimming. which I did before I even started this thread. the overlap, and the finishing strip dimensions are what I was going for... lets' see what the photo shows: I love the TM kit, and I love the AP kit. regards, vern
  15. Thanks to paul H, thaynerd and all of our beloved "nit pickers" out there. you inspired me to go the extra mile! thanks paul for all your kind words. Thanks to TrooperMaster... you helped me see the hidden details! I hope to wear a kit from you someday soon. regards! vern
  16. Almost all of the flaws on my previous photographs were due to upgrades that have needed to be modded. the shoulder bells, the shoulder straps, and the side gaps all needed replacement fittings. I've transitioned the fitting elements inside and will be removing all velcro parts completely. I've moved into snaps, harness, extra strength elastic. just moving up the chest plate by counting the number of ridges, and locking the shoulder bells to the shoulder straps moved the chest plate to the proper position. gluing down the shoulder straps was the best fitting option I could make. it took 10 days with armor glueing all over the place. and I still need more snaps! if anyone really looks close you can see that I also modded my thermal det cannister's hangers with aluminum@!

  18. New photos up! wow, that armor polish sure did the trick! I've had some of our troopers say that my forearms are trimmed large. that's because my arms won't fit inside smaller armor. the arms are extremely tight, can anyone say "armor bites" I have popeye arms and shoulders! nothing I could do to change that!
  19. I love the detailing on the hengstler. makes me want to strip my paint off and do it right!
  20. I'm in the same camp here.
  21. hmm... these long a little longer... and less wide... look really good. his finish is really pristine!
  22. we all watched, and the E-11 is amazing... then the TM build... now this masterwork of photography, and muse... great work~!

  24. without all of you none of this would have been possible! I'd be wearing an FX kit and wondering why my chestplate is so big? hahahaha!!! my kit consists of the following parts: one AP armor kit. canada baby! chazz belt. new york. handmade leather holster with rivets. ca boots. ah.... the smell of CA boots! hand made riveting style neckseal. AP helmet ESB style. stomper hovie oregon- woot ( I was born in portland ) his versions are on both helmets. mike's esb stickers (I like it in the down south california!) Troopermaster handplates sewn on silk gloves. (all trimming and drilling done by paul. thanks paul... you're the best out there!) for the ANH hero I use a fully modded MRCE with troopermaster rubber trim, bubble smoke lenses and mike's stickers. stomper hovies round out the mod. fireblade jedi's latex type 2 han solo style gloves. resin blaster with removeable hengstler for dual duty. (maker of things mr copy) blaster has working metal D ring and aluminum trigger guard with lighted scope. check out my star wars website: www.metalvideotube.com/starwars/ thanks again to everyone. NEW PHOTOS ARE UP! MY AP kit with mrce mod.
  25. yeah... during fitting my photographer didn't tell me about my belt sagging on the side. sure shows the screen accurate cloth belt. and it made my shims offset. in the ANH photos the fitting is better. areas fixed: Lenses are being replaced, done shims will be better set, done. the belt sagged a little on the holster side. done. shoulder bells fitting done. the shoulder strapping will also improve. done. I have other detailed photos in my upcoming photosets. the photos above will be modded as all these slight improvements will be completed BEFORE my 501st application goes through. thanks everyone for the feedback. to watch a new and growing star wars related website check out www.metalvideotube.com/starwars/ 501st FISD all the way! new are now up.
