I have armour questions before purchasing
ukswrath replied to Shinyarmour1's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Hey C let me see if I can help you here "Hello all I have done many many weeks of research on the different types of armour and where to purchase them and I have finally decided to become ANH Stunt Stormtrooper. After research and reviewing the dealerships on whitearmour.net I am going to go with AP. I've heard a lot of good things about them along with excellent armour details from building posts. But before I rush into purchasing my armour, I would like to ask a couple of questions about the AP armour first. 1. I heard that they might have soft detail in the armour/helmet. Is there anyone who found this to be true, if so could those details be sharpened without damaging the armour? (I was just curious about this, I still think that it looks amazing) It's not as bad as some say and it wouldn't be worth the effort making any modifications, the armor is perfect the way it is. 2. Are there any pieces from the kit that might need to be replaced? (just so I know if I need to continue researching replacement parts so I can order them at the same time I make my armour purchase) No 3. I've seen armour parts from different kits and there is a (thumb print like) depression in one of the biceps. I did some research and it is suppose to be there. But why is there a depression in both biceps instead of just the one? Can this be fixed? The indent in the left bicep is screen accurate, in other words it's supposed to be there. 4. If I put some thin foam into my helmet for comfort, would I still have enough room to install fans? Depends on how much foam you use but realistically you should be fine. 5. Since the E-11 can be bought additionally, how heavy is it compared to the other E-11 dealerships? Comparable, similar I would greatly appreciate all the help that could be provided. thanks. -
Strapping visibility? Black strapping on black under suit is not very visible. Bicep to forearm straps for the falling forearms

TK-9592 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [ATA][547]
ukswrath replied to TKmowsearz's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hey Jamie, thank you updating your TD and the picture. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All photos are posted. Your armor meets all requirements for Expert infantry. Congratulations! and welcome to the EI ranks . If you haven't done so already it's time to get out there and represent the 501st and your garrison. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section, we review suggestions made by your fellow troopers and our own observations. All go towards improving the final look of your armor. Though none of following suggestions will not effect your EIB status most, if not all will be required to be updated if you choose to apply for Centurion. Centurion Suggestions: 1) Raising the forearms. Technically the forearms and biceps should be almost touching one another. Adding elastic between the two will help remedy the issue. Though this will not effect EIB it will be required at Centurion. Screen reference 2) Cover strip widths a bit excessive in multiple areas of your armor. The cover strip widths appear to be little bit wide. The specifications are arms 15mm, legs beside rear shins are 20mm, rear shin (calf) 25mm. A this time were not asking you to make any repairs and though this will not effect EIB we may require them to be corrected at Centurion. 3) Ab button plate is extending past the ab plate mounting area. 4)The ab button surface should be parallel with or inside the ab return edge. Also, The button sizes appear to be a little large. Though in the CRL there's no size they have to be we like to see them a bit smaller, your's are almost touching in one area. Again, though this will not effect EIB it will be required at Centurion. Reference pic 5) Cloth waist belt width appears to be excessive in width. CRL states "..size must be 2.75” (70 mm) to 3.25”(83 mm) wide and not wider than the plastic portion of the belt." Though your's is not wider then the plastic portion, the canvas portion does appear to be pretty wide. If you choose to apply for Centurion please provide us with the canvas belt width at that time so we can expedite your app. Reference pic 6) Ab to kidney and Cod rivets may be incorrect. For Centurion we suggest using doom shaped split rivets. Your's look flat with sharp corners. Reference picture 7) Cover strips on the calves will be needed for Centurion, overlapping joints are not allowed. Easy fix, just add some cover strips and you're golden. 8) E-11 Charge handle though not needed for EIB will be required for Centurion. There you have it Jamie. Again, welcome to EIB trooper -
Nice work Basic and EIB no, Centurion will be determined at the time of the approval and the overall look of the armor. If we feel it's too wide then you may be asked to make needed repairs. It won't effect any approval levels.

Pyrates AP Build and Journey to The 501st

Dem b some serious drop box contraptions you have der Aaron . Btdub (btw) what holds the belt to the ab? -
Why are you waiting for soft goods just to go Centurion? POST IT!!!! hahaha

Sorry for the delay. They don't have to be perfect, flush is optimum but not the end all, if this helps. Well if Centurion is your goal shims may be in order. I have a 34 in waist and there's now way without starving myself for a week will I fit in this armor gap free. There are plenty of build tutorials illustrating how to add shims to armor. Hope this encourages you to strive on.

TK-71987 Requesting ANH EIB Status (SDS) [546]
ukswrath replied to Lord Darzu's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Alright Fernando, thank you for the updated pictures. I'll be finishing your app since Sly is out in the backwoods somewhere where there's no internet, didn't know there was such a place haha Anyway on behalf of Sly and myself we would like to congratulate and welcome you to "Expert Infantry" Excellent job trooper For the record Sly and my self would like to correct ourselves, we mad a mistake when requiring the blaster charging handle. It technically isn't required for EIB but since your armor and blaster are worthy of Centurion we knew you would want to update it anyways. Sorry about that. See you at Centurion brother. -
Hi Daryl thank your for your EIB application CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All photos are present and your armor represents all necessary elements to qualify for EIB. With that we'd like to congratulate and welcome you to Expert Infantry! Very nice job on your build . Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we will discuss observations made by your fellow troopers as well as ourselves. These may contain suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. As Andrew mentioned your waist belt is hanging kind of low. We suggest you bring it up about 1/2".

TK-83970 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [TM][544]
ukswrath replied to Tig70's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hi Andy welcome to your EI review. Sorry for the delay brother CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All photos are present and your armor represents all necessary elements to qualify for EIB. With that we'd like to congratulate and welcome you to Expert Infantry! Excellent build trooper, beautiful set of armor you have there. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we will discuss observations made by your fellow troopers as well as ourselves. These may contain suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Unless stated in the above or below sections, these suggestions are not required. If we had any suggestions it be to lower the waist belt a smidgen, it's almost covering the lower ab button and maybe tighten the back to kidney straps, the back plate is overlapping the kidney a bit too much at times. Other then that your armor looks incredible and major kudos on your DLT-19 build. -
Cool find at Radio Shack.

Centurion spec Thermal detonator
ukswrath replied to pandatrooper's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Thermal Detonator For 501st approval: (A.K.A. O2 canister) attaches to the center back of the belt. Detonator consists of an all grey cylinder, without silver stickers or silver paint. The cylinder is between 2” (50mm) and 2.68"(68mm) in diameter with white end caps on each end. The white control panel pad faces upwards, with the controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap. The total length is approximately 7.50" (190.5mm). The thermal detonator is attached via metal or metallic-appearing clips, approximately 1" (25mm) wide. Other than L2 clip locations there no other requirements so your answer is yes. -

Thanks Man cave AKA wife's old office Biceps and thighs are connected to the armor suspension system. Forearms are floating. Shins are attached to the front of the boots with velcro. -
Very good info, thanks for providing this Chris. Assuming Fuller is the manufacturer of the OT TK brass screw, these specs will be very useful.
