Starfox2010's TFA Stormtrooper Build
ukswrath replied to Starfox2010's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Well to be honest Rick you don't want to use bondo, it isn't flexible enough, use spot putty. Spot putty doesn't require any mixing, the hardener is already mixed in and it has almost 360 degree flex. . Back to the prep. Most valleys and peaks should already be filled in with the Devcon of similar. Spot putty is for areas less than 1/8" deep. -
Velleman MK136 Super Stereo Ear
ukswrath replied to xSCDx's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
You can't run the fans on the same system as the Velleman. Fans create PWM noise (Pulse Width Modulation or whine). There's a couple ways to eliminate this, the first a separate battery for the two systems or the second, add a voltage drop to the Velleman PCB then use a battery that has 12v and 5v outputs. 12v for the Velleman and 5v for the fans (assuming you're using 5v rated fans). . -

Velleman MK136 Super Stereo Ear
ukswrath replied to xSCDx's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I've elaborated on this in my electronics threads, long story short battery chargers emit noisy electricity that is very difficult or cost effective to filter out and the Velleman PCB definitely can't filter it out. I've tried $200 worth of suppressors available on the market to no avail. I've even had those extremely knowledgeable with PCB design offer to help, still no luck. Until something new comes out we're kind of stuck. -
Let's do this

Velleman MK136 Super Stereo Ear
ukswrath replied to xSCDx's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
At the moment it can't be done. The $ it takes to make it USB 5v adaptable isn't cost worthy. The one's I sell run off 9v + as mentioned by Marc but require adding a voltage drop. -
Absolutely. A few simple modifications and your set. It will cost a few $$$ more for the additional items but no one said this hobby was cheap.

Is a AM belt able to be approved?
ukswrath replied to Stormy3D's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Before you discard the cloth belt post a photo or two, maybe one with a ruler showing the width. I've built a couple AM kits none of which came with the cloth belt. Point being your belt still MAY be acceptable. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk -
Is a AM belt able to be approved?
ukswrath replied to Stormy3D's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I think he said AM kit, but I'm not even aware of AM selling a cloth belt with their kit. Now, I believe there may be two different waist ammo belts supplied with the kit. If so the one with the recessed mounting holes in not accepted at L3. EDIT: If he is referring to Anovos than excuse my misunderstanding. -
Hey Jon, thank you for your EI application. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All the required submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Welcome and congratulations! . Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. An area that stands out to me are the tear stripes, they could stand to be tidied up a bit. I know free hand painting can be tough, trust me it took me a long time to get it down and yours aren't too bad though they could use some TLC Reference photo Secondly, though not a huge deal your waist belt is sitting a bit low. The upper edge of the ammo belt should reside at the lower edge or slightly covering the lowest ab buttons. Reference photo And finally keep an eye on your shoulder bell to cover, chest and back gap and bicep to forearm gap. You're a tall guy which can work against you at times. It's not bad but if you tightened the connecting straps a bit it would look even cleaner. Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. We do one area that will need to be address before applying for Centurion if you choose to do so. We have nothing to ad here. Excellent job on your build Jon, hope to see you at Centurion.

The hovi tip end is roughly 17mm ID (inner diameter), ANH Stunt. From canon photos I've seen there appears to be roughly 8 strands of wire per tip. Hope this helps.
-
When you say mesh size are your revering to the measurement between each strand of metal, as in how many strands per square inch or mm, or are you referring to the overall diameter inside the tip?
-
Looking forward to seeing it Skylar
-
On another note, the DLT-19 and T-21 are equipped with shoulder straps and the DLT at least has a Tactical light. With these be added as a base requirement or an optional part of the weapon CRL?
-
So then how would it be attached to the back plate, maybe its permanently fixed ?
-
Not sure if anyone caught this, and I have yet to read every post but it looks as if the the shoulder covers simply lay on top of the chest plate, is connected but hinged or velcroed. In this image the cover strip is 15-20 degrees offset from the chest, where with the OTTK it's parallel and glued. Thoughts?
-
Back to the ears, a little clarification, the shape and even the gaps are acceptable however, they could stand to be a bit thinner. Here's a couple reference photos. Sorry for the delay on this, I passed out last night before I could elaborate. Edit: Yours are in no way a deal breaker. My above comment is my OCD speaking

From what I can see it looks good to me

TK-11995 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status (RS) [692]
ukswrath replied to mrcjfish's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hey Connor, thank you for your EI application. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All the required submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Welcome and congratulations! . Beautiful work on your build. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. Besides being a stellar build we only have a couple areas of concern. One is the ab to kidney armor and rivet alignment, as mentioned by Joseph. The upper armor edges should be parallel with each other, as well as the rivet heads. There are quite a few troopers that had to make this correction so there should be plenty of threads to follow and/or people to assist you in making this repair. Reference photo Secondly, your ear screws could stand one more coat of white, the metal seems to be bleeding through. Not a big deal but worth mentioning none the less. Centurion Suggestions: In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. We do one area that will need to be address before applying for Centurion if you choose to do so. Our only concern is to secure the drop box alignment which should be parallel with the edge of the waist ammo belt. Simply gluing the drop box strap to the waist belt should resolve the issue. Reference photo Excellent job, hope to see you at Centurion.
