  1. Lame. I found this one too. https://www.etsy.com/listing/261803280/star-wars-the-force-awakens-stormtrooper?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=stormtrooper%20armour&ref=sr_gallery_2 I also sent a note to them to take it down out of respect. Maybe enough complaints will get them frustrated.
  2. Cool! Good to see more coming along. Did you check out the Resource Guide? (http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/34166-first-order-stormtrooper-resource-guide/)
  3. This is so cool! I'm excited he's a TFA brother now. Happy to donate for an amazing and dedicated trooper.
  4. I think maybe I just need some time to grieve after seeing all those BFGs getting tossed around the hanger floor in the movie. Heartbreaking!
  5. That could be pretty cool. One thing to keep in mind is trooping. If you want to do the charity events and events with families that bloody helmet could be a bit too much. Just something to think about!
  6. Thanks guys! Glad I could help. I'm sure these could be improved, but I have too many other accessories to keep building!
  7. Yeah, and to add to this - the movie doesn't even clarify the various roles/titles of these guys so all we really have are the various combinations of accessories. It might be different if there was some kind of clear separation of characters, but it just seems that troopers can be geared up in different ways.
  8. I like having both. When I troop with Vader, I love the classic TK. These days, I wear the FO version more often.
  9. It's in the charter? What the hell did I sign up for?!!
  10. I'm not saying I do, but don't take away my freedom to do so.
  11. As long as poop jokes aren't off the table, I'm game.
  12. It would probably make sense to change the initials. Maybe First Assembly of Radical Tyrants or something more generic like that to accommodate everyone.
  13. I think they're just different means with different purposes. And attributing gossip to FB is much more about the person than the mode of communication. The junk that can go on on the 501st forums doesn't care what tech it uses. I honestly wish our forums weren't so full of bickering and fighting when you're trying to have real conversations or find info. There can be a benefit to the "fade away" element that something like FB brings to conversations. When real decisions are made or resources shared, it usually ends up here.
  14. The Facebook group is just a popular communication channel for people to easily communicate and is often much easier than threads. There's not much on there that isn't here though. Many FO Tk build threads are here, the riot shield is on here as is my gunner cannon build thread, etc. FB is just usually where there's more instant communication I think. I use both personally, but some people aren't on FB and some people don't use the forums much.
  15. The trick there is that the HWT isn't the only trooper with a vest. If you don't carry weapons, it becomes difficult to say whether it's HWT or just the guy with the vest and rifle.
  16. Yeah, I didn't notice the pouches either. Probably will when the Blu-ray comes out. Might just be floating in the background somewhere or else in the deleted scenes.
  17. Forgot about that one. Adding it! It's not always there either.
  18. Yeah, that's a good example. Similar situation.
  19. Hello Kris! Yeah, it might be a good idea to stick some pics in the original post to show the variations. I'll do that shortly.
  20. I'd like to throw something out there that I've been thinking about regarding the Stormtrooper CRL for Force Awakens. We've already seen quite a few variations of the costume, but I'm actually wondering if this is an argument for not spinning off new CRLs but instead expanding the concept a bit to have grouped optional accessories. Here's why: The variations in the new movie are essentially the same costume. I know because I've been working on several of them. We have a whole FB group of troopers working on different versions. It's the same base costume. Here is a partial list so far. Standard Stormtrooper with F-11D blaster Stormtrooper with Vest, FWMB-10 Megablaster and pistol (aka: Heavy Gunner) Stormtrooper with Vest, F-11D blaster with full stock and pistol Stormtrooper with Vest, Backpack, F-11D blaster with full stock and pistol Stormtrooper with red pauldron and F-11D blaster with full stock Stormtrooper with black pauldron and F-11D blaster with full stock Stormtrooper with white pauldron and F-11D blaster with full stock Riot Control trooper with shield and baton, sometimes with pistol There are more, but you can see there are a lot of variations and the costume is exactly the same except for some additional accessories. There are also accessories that make it unclear who exactly can have them at any given time. There are binoculars and also some kind of holster mounted flashlight thing too, but doesn't really seem like a distinct character separation. We will likely find more of these. There is also the issue that when you exclude optional weapons, there is ambiguity. If I just wear my vest, as I have been doing at non-blaster events, am I the Heavy Gunnery type of guy in number 2 above or the rifle guy from 3 above? There's no distinction. Since it would seem like overkill to make all these different CRLs when 99% of it is exactly the same and there are a lot of crossover accessories, I'm wondering about a section of "allowed accessory combinations" at the bottom of the base CRL. For example, you can have the Vest and the F-11D and pistol, but not the vest and riot baton. This would be much easier to maintain and also keep the understanding that these are all Stormtroopers, with some variation to the same base costume. It also keeps things simple because in reality, if they are separate then pretty soon I'm going to have 5-8 different approved costumes simply by adding accessories to my current one. Buy a red pauldron and a vest and you've already got numbers 1, 3 and 4. What do you guys think of this? It's a little different, but I think this costume is different. Here are some pics of variations. I don't have screen caps of all of them so most are toy references, but these all exist in the movie. -------------- http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Star-Wars-the-Force-Awakens-Stormtroopers.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dYyAZ5hMxuU/VmIhDFEQ_eI/AAAAAAACOZI/T3hoKZQrFDU/s1600/star-wars-stormtrooper-jakku-exclusive-sixth-scale-hot-toys-902579-13.jpg --------------
  21. This is an interesting discussion. Here's what I think after reading all the arguments. 1) The rough "pattern" that I see in our costume reference library seems to be in most cases a class of character, not uniqueness of costume nor a title from the movies. The bounty hunters vary wildly and are all BH. The Sith Lords are SL and the Krayt clan are DZ. There are many many more examples. They span two different movie trilogies and the EU that have large gaps between them and rarely correspond to any "title" or prefix from the movies and certainly not a single costume. 2) Stormtroopers are unique in our little universe in that they are so well known as TK. No other detachment is quite that attached to an identifier because Stormtroopers were first and rooted in a reference in a movie. In nearly every other detachment, this isn't the case. We also don't have as much variance in the costumes as many other detachments because of the popularity of the costume and sheer numbers. But even there we have a McQuarrie Stormtrooper vs Deathtroopers vs OT Stormtroopers. So in the case of getting confused about TK vs FOTK - well, people say "Boba Fett" vs "Bossk" because BH isn't a unique identifier. It seems that the primary use of the prefix as a class of character and not a unique identifier is just inevitably going to extend to us in a bigger way now that there are so many costumes and most people won't understand FN anyways. They are primarily internal references for organizational sake. Does anyone outside of Krayt clan really understand immediately what a "DZ" is? 3) People have strong personal feelings about this either way and we have to figure out what makes the most sense apart from our attachment to it. Some people are very excited to finally get a TK designation and yet a lot of other people are frustrated to build a new costume (and a freaking hard and expensive one!) and not get a new designation. I think the argument there unfortunately falls to keeping the same designation because most of the other detachments have the same issue. Again, you may have a Darth Vader, but you build a Darth Maul and you get no new designation. I think we just have to realize that it's not the norm to get a unique one per costume. 4) On a practical level, there is also the issue that that we already have a ton of separate detachments and forums with their own moderators and need for support so I'd consider that carefully before spinning off into a new one. It's already tough to keep track of so many separate forums and it feels weird to me that Boushh and Greedo are in one forum, Gamorrean Guard and a Jawa are in the same forum, but OT Stormtrooper and NT Stormtrooper would be in different forums. We have to group these at some level or we'd have 100's of detachments and forums. Heck, I think if we could have thought through the future better, Sandy's and Biker Scouts and Snowtroopers would also be here too because they are a lot more similar in class of character than the way other detachments are grouped. There's just a practical concern of knowing that the costume base is going to continue expanding greatly and it's much more efficient as an organization to find the best match and put them there unless there somehow manages to emerge a new class of character. Maz Kanata might be one such character - but who wants to build a website and start a forum for one character? All of this for me is strong argument against a new detachment and designation - and that's considering that I'd LOVE to have an FN ID along with my TK ID. The reality though is that it's not the common use case in the Legion regardless of personal feelings or movie references. We're already seeing a heavy use of FOTK in regular conversation within the Legion and I think FN won't really help there anyways unless it only pertains to a single costume. You will still have to say FO Flametrooper or FO Officer or FO Snowtrooper because that's just what happens when a whole new series of movies come out and the names aren't clearly new to the universe. In 6 years, we'll have 6 new movies so we're unavoidably headed to even broader groupings.
  22. Sorry, I crossed my wires! Now I'm confused at which one I saw. There are several popping up.
  23. I will say that the pics Peter posted on FB with the whole suit and finished kit looked much better proportionally so I'm guessing it's just a trick of the photo/lighting. Maybe Peter can post some of those here.
  24. I actually thought about that, but it would only be a first step. With how manual this was, I'd want to make several corrections on a mold. It sounds intriguing though. We have a guy here in the DSG who makes all the latex space monkeys and other things so he does a lot of molding.
