  1. So this is weird - I thought it was black too Brian but this image seems to appear that it's not. Hard to tell if some of this stuff is just lighting.
  2. The white I think is just the gun stock and stand. Looks like the standard vest and the heavy gun to me.
  3. So I could be wrong, but I don't think it's actually red - I think it's lighting. There were rumors about this guy and it was all black accents. Heck, even the thermal det cap is red and the right arm gasket is red too. Again, I think it's just lighting. Overall, a very minor (and slightly odd) paint addition in my opinion but we'll see when we get a better look.
  4. I've tried it in a number of applications and have generally found it to be not a great option for anything that undergoes stress. If it's just to keep a cover plate on a belt box or things like that, sure. If it's something like shins or forearms that undergo stress as you move, the magnets really don't stand a chance unless it's a more complex magnet + socket type locking system.
  5. Found this evidence of the black. https://goo.gl/photos/sKNav3b8GdL3DXBa6
  6. I think all three colors actually made the final movie. I need to look it up because I grabbed screenshots a while ago for this.
  7. And just out of frame is an exhausted trooper passed out on the carpet from carrying it.
  8. I know one question that came up with the megablaster is whether or not it needed the stand and monopod. Not sure where that left off, but mine doesn't have those. Brian's has the stand, but I don't believe he has the monopod either.
  9. I just grabbed some cheap speaker cloth from Joanne's. It slides right off after a troop too so no problems there at all.
  10. While we haven't seen the upcoming version of ANOVOS' kit, in round 1 they were the best option out there in terms of a clean sculpt and accuracy. Most using other makers' suits actually end up using ANOVOS' helmet anyways. Despite their claims though, I can't imagine they've completely avoided the need to paint for version 2 because there are hidden seams on the yoke and the arms that I just can't imagine they've pulled off using vacu-form. I would suspect that it might go together nicely without bondo and paint, but with seams where we don't allow them because, well, they aren't a 501st armory, they're a costuming company. CRLs are not their top priority. So in my opinion, any of the makers mentioned will require paint and other finishing work, but are approvable though so it might come down to timeframe. ANOVOS gives you a guess at ship date, but they're all over the place on how close they get to their estimate so they're the weakest in that category. I prefer their sculpt myself, but if I was wanting to get something going sooner, one of the other guys would be better.
  11. What worked very well for me, for these and Wyatt's latex versions, is to attach light-weight and breathable speaker cloth to the inside. I used minimal glue to keep full stretch. It slides on very easily!
  12. Well, I hear that the next generation of FO TKs from them are coming with latex gaskets so who knows, but compared to the v1 / v2 gaskets, Wyatt's are amazingly more flexible and far thinner. Much easier to move in and also last longer as a lot of the ANOVOS ones cracked and shredded in a short amount of time. No brainer! I used Wyatt's for the flametrooper as well.
  13. You know, we don't actually need perks. That was just a joke. If you're going to though, make it something related, like a cash reward valued at our donation + 10%. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I sent another small donation. I can't wait to see my dedicated forum area and 12% discount on all personal for sale items!
  15. This is now for sale if anyone is interested. http://501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=93868
  16. Funds sent. Thanks for all the work everyone does making this an awesome detachment!
  17. Sure thing! Credit should really be given to Peter on this one. He donated the armor, shipped it to me for free, and then asked that it be given away or donated.
  18. Well, that took me long enough to get around to it. I finally sold the armor and donated the funds to charity. I sold it for $250 since I didn't want someone to worry about all the recast hooplah and also be able to replace parts if they need. I donated 103% of the funds to Maggie's Place, a really neat charity based in Phoenix who does a lot of work temporarily housing pregnant mothers who need help. http://maggiesplace.org.
  19. He did my flamethrower kit. I was very happy with the service and quality and the turnaround.
  20. There is some truth to that, but I think there's a big difference between the category of everyone who makes a costume being a "copier" and someone who literally got their hands on someone's kit and cast directly off of it to then turn around and make money selling to the public. It's not just inspired by someone else's work, it's a complete replication. Whether or not he knew where the armor came from, it's pretty strange to build a business building production around a product of unknown origin. In this way, I don't think of FN Armour as just one among a "multiplicity of makers" because the other guys put in a ton of work making their interpretation of Stormtrooper armor while FN Armour skipped that huge step and went right to making copies of it and made a lot of very clear and adamant claims about where it came from that were clearly not true.
  21. Thanks! It was a beast. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  22. The CRL is pending approval over at spec ops as we speak. CRL: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TX_TFA_flametrooper Build thread: http://forum.501stspecopsdet.net/index.php?/topic/4124-camprandalls-flametrooper-build/ Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
