  1. Thanks Rob! Yeah, this was a beast. I really don't see myself making several of these. I wish I could, but my 2 and 3 year olds prefer to play monsters than hear about me building guns in the garage.
  2. Totally understand! Just giving feedback. Honestly it's probably a little silly to talk about upgrades at this point with the movie so close. We'll have great shots of the thing in a little over a week.
  3. Ok thanks. One other thing. (you know, since you asked). There are black stripes on the central rod as well. It seems that it will change it a good bit to add those. I assume this is a version 2 thing?
  4. Looks good Rob! Can't believe how fast you whipped this up. So one thing that seems to be the case - and it's hard to tell if it's just the photos - but this seems a little chunkier than the one on screen. Is it just the perspective? Maybe it's just that it should be further extended and that's all. Here is a comparison to see what I'm saying. The ratio of the gaps between the black bars looks bigger compared to the arm thickness compared to yours. Again, hard to tell how much is the perspective though.
  5. It also makes me wonder if the version with the stock and pistol is actually the heavy gunner. We don't know the clear distinctions yet of their roles so it gets confusing. We probably need to see the movie and see how everything plays out and then determine what variations of the trooper there are vs just a bunch of optional accessories on the one.
  6. Yeah, that would be great! I'll see when I can find a sliver of time to get this thing back on. Might take a week or two with all the non-blaster troops coming.
  7. It's close to 12 lbs. The main issue is the fact that the trigger is underneath but there is that big white boxy thing that bumps into the forearm so I have to seriously tweak my wrist to hold it straight. Oh, the things we endure...
  8. Thanks Ben! Got to wear it around this weekend at Fan Fest, which was a lot of fun. The fingers on my right hand were literally numb after a couple hours with how these forearms dig into the wrist while carrying it. Totally worth it though!
  9. Great job guys! Pretty cool featuring how different costumes are designed and made and put on. Pretty interesting stuff.
  10. Thanks Patrick!<br><br> I may do that, though I'm curious to see the movie now and see where I missed.
  11. I won't build binoculars, I can't build binoculars, I won't build binoculars...
  12. I am going to be drilling those side holes on the white part this week, but I'm waiting on the stock because the references are just too fuzzy and I don't want to cut into it more until I know how it works. It appears there's a detail along the top of the stock in some pics too. Just to add... I also noticed some differences between the toy and promotional art that makes me want to wait on those subtle details as well until the movie comes out.
  13. That's pretty neat! I kinda envision a secret workshop where there are 4 Tonys but only one is ever allowed to go out in public at a time.
  14. Thanks! Thank you! I can't believe we're only 16 days away from seeing this guy - and a whole lot more - in action! No more looking at toy photos...
  15. Weight is about 11.5 lbs. I haven't trooped it yet though. That comes next weekend on Sunday. I think I'll carry the big boy for an hour or two and then go with the blaster.
  16. Here are some full armor pics. It goes pretty good with the kit!
  17. Hey friends! So I've had several people ask about the 3D print files I designed for the middle greeblie box of the Heavy Gunner megablaster (http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/33718-force-awakens-heavy-gunner-cannon-build/page-7?). I was hesitant to share them because the reference photos are just plain awful in this area at this point and I know they're not accurate. I had to even make stuff up for some of it. It's also the first time I've tried to design anything in 3D. At the same time though, I think the end result "feels" accurate enough and people are asking so why not? Here are the latest files. Note that I stripped them down considerably to keep the print cost down, but in the process probably made a part or two too thin in a few spots. These definitely could use a second go round of improvements, but I just haven't had the time to perpetually improve them. If someone else polishes them up, please post here so everyone can benefit! Again though, the end result was pretty good. I also went with a local 3D printer from 3dhubs who had some very nice printers because cleanup on this stuff would suck if you print it on an economy printer. Here are some considerations... These took a lot of time so I'd ask as everyone does that you don't do runs of these parts and make profit - but please go ahead and make a BFG! The charging handle part is just a scaled down version of James' part that he shared here (http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/33286-wip-tfa-officer-pistol/) The parts with "short block" in the name need to be duplicated if you do what I did. I essentially just duplicated the section nearest the barrel to tuck under the top white box since it kinda looked similar and there was no way to really see what it looks like underneath. I figured it was better than just a black block of wood sticking out, but who knows. Long block 2 and 3 look the same but are actually slightly different. They probably should be the same, but I didn't want to rework the thing to get those to line up exactly. Due to minimizing the print volume, you'll need to build a base box to attach this stuff to. Files: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0Bx3hhQ2CwEKaTTRVYXBKaEV3WEE&usp=sharing Here's a quick reference to see what I ordered and some pics of the printed parts.
  18. Hey Pedro! While we don't know when the suits will be publicly available, it never hurts to do research. You'll have to come over sometime and I can give you an overview of the armor!
  19. Glad you enjoyed it! I always appreciate build threads so I thought I'd document some of it (including the goofy solutions that I ended up implementing). Appreciate it Tony! I expect you to follow up with the truly accurate version. Thanks!
