  1. I think that the troopers in the pic do definitely look well put together! Subtle differences between some molds, but certainly the right look either way. I guess one issue I have is that it seams that the whole thing comes down to not wanting to hide seams, which every FO TK has done to date and seems like a slippery slope with CRLs. It's worth pointing out that I'm not even really against the change when it comes to seams, I'm just saying that the post really comes down to this one point which seems to only be not wanting to do the work to hide the seams. It's not a problem with the molds or hard to get parts or anything, just the work. Isn't that a tough argument to make then? You can look at other kits like clones and make the same arguments. We don't allow just any white leather boot either and it usually comes down to only some stitching here or there. Obviously there is room for flexibility as we aren't pretending we are building them in 100% the same way as Disney/LFL, with a huge budget and staff of costume designers and props people, but it brings up the bigger issue of having consistent reasons for when these kinds of details should be left off. Can't get a part without an excruciating wait or exorbitant cost? Build in some flexibility to the CRL and shoot for a happy middle-ground. Have to take more time and a bit of money to make it right? No need for that same flexibility, just assistance and patience. I'm definitely on the side of not making approval arbitrarily difficult. I for one like my suits to look really nice, but am not the type to care much about achieving the higher approval levels. I primarily care about trooping. I do think though that it would feel arbitrary to remove that requirement because it's hard or the materials cost money, which is an element of every suit. That being said, if it's changed by the staff, I won't dispute it because there are many wiser people than me around here.
  2. That's the illusion I create by waiting to post build progress. Glad to hear it! Some concept artist out there somewhere is grateful for the feedback. Thanks!
  3. I haven't seen it on screen either, but I don't think I was looking for it.
  4. A run would be cool. There is also this video from the SDCC presentation.
  5. Pretty cool! I'm glad they threw up armor party pics with fellow 501st member Chris Henning. He helped a ton with that initial build.
  6. My guess here would be that bloody-handprint Finn is questionable to classify as a "bad guy" so just get approved as a TK and then you can just use the alternate helmet (or helmet-less) version at events where you aren't required to wear only approved accessories. That gives you approval but also the ability to play Finn at most events with no issues.
  7. This is what I (and many others) do for our helmets. Very adjustable and comfortable! http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35142-anovos-tk-discussion-forum/page-2#entry460510
  8. Here's the final result of adding the lights. It came out great! They're so freaking hot though that there's a faint smell coming from the red sheeting over the lens. Video: http://vid1074.photobucket.com/albums/w403/camprandall/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-02/20160204_225425_zpslwwu5ukd.mp4
  9. I found it at Wal-mart, between the pickles and motor oil. Great find!
  10. ACCESSORY 6: OFFICER PAULDRON This is the kit provided by trooperbay. I say "kit" loosely because all you have to do is trim, paint and mount. I used three rare earth magnets on the pauldron and on the armor to mount it. It connects very easy! Video: http://vid1074.photobucket.com/albums/w403/camprandall/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-01/20160123_094658_zps7uxqxwz5.mp4
  11. I'm planning on it, but I need to make some more adjustments so that it's useable as a 501st trading card. I'll have a back template as well.
  12. ACCESSORY 5: SE-44C Pistol This is Germaine's 3D print kit, printed courtesy of Travis Macken. For cleanup, I had tried the 3D smoother material to hide print linesbut found it a bit hard to control. I then switched to my old favorite, bondo glazing, and found that much easier and faster to work with. This piece is nearly done, but not quite so more pics are coming.
  13. ACCESSORY 4: Z6 Riot Baton This was built using Peter White's v1 baton kit, which was a crazy rush to get it out by the premiere. I also added leds in the shaft and made a battery compartment in the solid resin base.
  14. ACCESSORY 3: Riot Shield The riot shield is a kit from TK Sonic and then just cutting, gluing and painting. Very easy assembly. I used elastic and magnets for the arm mount for now so I could feel it out before making a hard decision on fit. The whole arm mount piece attaches with industrial velcro.
  15. ACCESSORY 2: F-11D Blaster Rifle This was the full kit from JJ Griffin with electronics. I basically built with what the kit came with, with the exception of replacing the tac light with a powerful mini flashlight, recommended by Javier Esqueda. Great kit and blaster! I apparently was burnt out from documenting things so I unfortunately took very few pics along the way. I did at least manage to capture how I put magnets in the front to allow the extension to click into place when not extended. I've also got a video showing how the twist light works. 16. Okey dokey, so it's been a while since I posted here. I figured it might be a good idea to post a brief post for each accessory I've added to this bad boy over the last months. Here goes! ACCESSORY 1: HEAVY GUNNER CANNON AND VEST I have a full build thread for the cannon, but here are a few pics. In a nutshell, it's made of hardwood, softwood, abs, pvc, electrical conduit, 3D printed ABS and bondo, filler, etc. I used whatever I could to get this freaking thing together. The vest was made by Chris Hale and I'm very happy with it!
  17. Thanks guys! It's a pretty cool prop, even though I don't get to carry it much. I'm working on this now.
  18. This looks really cool Wyatt! One question... is the black area of the pauldron really that shiny on the pics you've seen? I've had a hard time finding something good for that, but I had though it was more of a matte finish. Not sure.
  19. Tony asked me to post about using padding as an alternative with this helmet so here you go! For those of you that don't prefer the hard hat liner helmet mount option, something a lot of us do is to mount helmet pads inside. They're great because they velcro on so it's very easy to put on, try it, adjust, repeat, etc. I immediately removed the liner on this new one and put these in and the helmet sits really nicely without being loose or tight. Here is an example. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004RCLM8Q?keywords=military%20helmet%20pads&qid=1453903328&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2
  20. I also got from FB that cat pictures are always funny and interesting, but actually they're not.
  21. This is what I did for the ribbed areas that were cut. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31068-clints-build-thread-tk-61281/page-6#entry408004
  22. For sure! I have the plastic pauldron, but I'd love to see yours. Pm on the way.
  23. I got this response from the etsy seller. Is she just trying to sell something she bought off of a recaster and not recasting herself? If it even is who the profile says it is. Could be a fake profile too. "Actually I bought this of a guy in the philippines jus before Xmas"
  24. And looking closer at your post, the first pic in his ad is actually an ANOVOS helmet. Trying to steal from anyone they can I see...
