I drive a teeny - tiny car so I can't fit a big plastic bin in the door. I found this big duffel bag. I made a wood floor so it does not sag when I carry things in it. It fits flush end to end in the trunk of my car. Not too bad carrying it around but it needs a better shoulder strap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have the same problem with one of my ankles. Really tight inside the shin armor over the boot. I fold and mash the top of the boot up into the shin. I installed 3" wide soft elastic stirrups into the shins. They hold the shins down over the boot (not hard...just keeping them in place) and now the shins do not turn out while trooping. They are attached with velcro inside the shins on the sides and I can adjust them a bit by moving the velcro end up or down. -------------

What defines a good snap?
russellr2d2 replied to pewpewpew's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I found a supply at zackwhite.com. I don't like the Tandy snaps because they are $$$ and have the Tandy name stamped all over them. The ZW ones are plane and cheap. I have used them all over my TK armor and they are very good. The usual tool with anvil used with a hammer works well. Just watch as you tap down the part so the center shaft roles down evenly. I have messed up a few snaps hammering them down but, I have never have one fail on me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

UPDATE: The rubber sheet works perfectly. It's been almost a year and still straight and tight fit. -
A doopys on my home made stand. The business end of the scope.

I am tempted to try a strap from upper bell to side of chest plate to keep the bells forward. I still find myself rotating my biceps towards my chest plate which in turn pulls the bells close too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ATA not so steady build
russellr2d2 replied to BroncoTrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I also built an ATA bucket. Yours is right on track. I think you could take off a wee bit more of the ear cup where the plastic is wiggly. No more than a 2-3 MM. Also the ATA is really a tight fit to get your head in. You gotta turn it sideways and screw it on. Before you trim the rubber for the bottom opening I would trim or even just sand bit by bit to open it up as much as you can without the bottom hole getting visible from the outside view. My tiny head barely fits! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Beautiful build. You are ready to serve the empire. Let's pick on you and find something to admonish you for. After all this is the Empire we work for. Nobody gets off easy! The shoulder bells could be rotated forward to the chest plate a bit. You probably have a strap at the top of the bell attached to the top of the shoulder under the chest/back plate connection yes? I made my bell snap located forward a bit so it pulls the bells forward. So the bell strap does not connect to the center over your shoulder it is slightly forward . Now go serve with pride in your armor ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The finished hinge. Tight and straight in line. New rivets put in and painted white.
Order your rivets before starting this.

I will troop with this for a while and report back on how it is working.

<img src="http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m201/russellr2d2/IMG_5657_zpsjq9dxwvd.jpg"alt="IMG_5657_zpsjq9dxwvd.jpg">

I never put up an update to this fix. It's been months and the ribbed rubber sheet hinge ( it's the rubber sheet you line a tool drawer with) is working perfectly. The two halves are held tight together still. I highly recommend using rubber sheet over a fabric or nylon webbing. -
This isn't really an answer to your very good question but.... I had the same question. I even asked the maker himself. I got an answer both ways and ended up mounting it the way I did and I am happy with it the way it is. I have been awarded Centurion status and that is good enough for me. I've been told I have it upside down, but what the heck. You can't tell when it's all together and it fits better upside down I am told. Perhaps send in some photos to Mr ATA and ask him again. But like I said I have several people telling me both ways, so it looks like nobody can decide. Good luck! Russell

Wow! I haven't been watching this thread for a while. I have been trooping my armor almost two-three times a month since i finished it. Thank you all for the kind words. My best advice is to work slow. Read everything here on white armor. Don't use scissors to cut. Use an exacto knife to score and then snap. Work just outside your final line and sand down to your final line. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I put the big rounded side up and someone told me it was upside down. However i sent pics to well, lets say a learned trooper and, he says the rounded side is down but has his upside down because it fits better. I also have mine rounded up and i got Centurion status with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Didnt e6000 not stick to the rubber? I seem to remember i tried to glue my brow trim and e6000 let go right away. I have since used silicon glue for fishtanks at it seems to hold well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Beeee utiful armor. I have a suggestion to make it even better. Look at the front view and note how the knee area is crooked at the knees. That knock knee look. My pet peeve. Put some foam into the outsides at the bottom of your thighs. This will push them back out straight. I am on a crusade to fix the legions knees!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I failed too. A big disappointment in that I cannot find the problem. It just does not work. The traces are very close to each other much closer than they should be for a home build kit. I bet 90% of these things sold never work. There is a amplifier from Canada that is prebuilt ----------- Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
