  1. Long time lurker, finally couldn't say no to Pre-Celebration sale of Anovos. It came close, but I finally got enough the say before the sale ended and the tier price went up. I'm no strange to costuming and whatnot, but I still wasn't prepared for the work involved. Lots of problems during the build, from waiting to get home from college on spring break, to having to put it on hold for 3 months after returning to college after spring break, to going back and looking at my handiwork and being shocked at what i considered "a job well done," and needing to rip it apart to fix it. A big problem was discovering that i had ordered ceramic magnets, and not rare earth. Getting the right stuff helped a tremendous amount, and learning to tape the halves together to keep them flush was a life saver. It was, overall, a terrifying and wonderful experience, now to wait until winter break to make the E11!

  3. This is so mind-blowingly complex and amazing, every hat I own is off to you.
  4. Today on Radio Can't Paint, I try to paint ab buttons! How do they look?
  5. Oh hey forgot about this topic, Well I didn't finish before I had to go back o finish the semester, then I had 2 cosplays I had to finish before their respective cons, but we've been full steam ahead since! I got some advice from some of the more slender troopers out there, and have been, for better or worse, barreling ahead and making progress. Look if you squint your eyes, tilt your head, disregard the tape falling off and the peeling clear film, it kind of sorta looks like a TK! These shins are beating me up. I sort of messed a but on the cutting, and while i was able to fix it, getting them to close correctly is a bit more difficult than what it should be. Because of that, the bra hooks may no longer be a viable method. We'll see once it's all dry!
  6. A family inside joke so old I don't even remember how it came about anymore.
  7. Gaming is my main passion, lol. 100k+ gamerscore on Xbox, over 3000 hours in Destiny, 200+ steam games, it's my life.
  8. Well going from the celebration photos, I love the kit. Nice updated look. I like the cut out vents in the helmet, and the thingies the shoulder straps go into on the back plate.
  9. Mine are size 11. Slightly bigger, but I don't really expect that much of an increase in size. As of now, I'd have to shim to get the boots to fit around the ankles. But that will look... weird, as I have to trim the top to fit my shins properly.
  10. These are "TKBoots" brand TK boots. EDIT: Just measured mine. 2-3 mm under 13cm front to back.
  11. So I'm having a bit of a struggle here. The TKBoots I have are way too wide for my shin armor to fit around. This is pre-trimming for fit. And I'm not a big buy at all. I'm 5'11" and about 150 pounds. The picture on the TKboots site showed the armor comfortably fitting around the boot, yet I have quite a bit of extra leather, and can only get the armor around the boot if I really shove the leather underneath the plastic, but then the armor refuses to line up properly. Has anyone has a similar issue with TKBoots? Is there anything I can do to the boot to make the ankle opening not so wide? Because I can't shim, as the armor will look weird with slim cut thighs, arms, and then huge bulging calves, and the opening of the ankles without the boots on has a lot of extra room between my ankle and the plastic.
  12. Okay, I've compiled a full album of everything strapped up and multiple angles of how it fits. It fits better than I expected, actually, but I'm thinking maybe heat treat the butt plate a bit, and maybe cut down the abs a tiny bit? http://s997.photobucket.com/user/RadioactiveMicrobe/library/Torso
  13. Thanks everyone! Skinny Troopers, I need your help! I have a lot of space between my armor and my body for the torso. I notice a lot of people don't trim, but it seems like I have A LOT of space to deal with with mine. Should I trim, and where? Sorry, undersuit hasn't arrived yet, so you all get to see my workout shirt:
  14. Thanks! Not much work today so far. I cleaned up the eyes a bit. But for the most part I'm terrified of cutting this armor up to fit my body and potentially screwing it up! It all seems to fit, but I'm still nervous I'll be cutting too much away. This is where I think the forearm fits me. I don't have to trim the top part, but I did overlap quite a bit near the wrist.
  15. Hey all! I'd like to preface by saying I appreciate all of the information and help on this forums by people like Ukwrath and the like. I'd also like to post-preface by saying I still have minimal idea of what I'm doing, and only have 11 days to build this suit before 2 more months of college! Gah. Well, here goes. This is end of day 1. All parts cut and beginning the fittings. I suppose the next thing to do is to glue some front cover strips tomorrow and begin the trimming to my frame after that dries.
