  2. End cap locking ring, stock pivot, and deflectors assembled to receiver tube. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  3. Starting up the project again with a proper 1-1/2" tube. Template applied. Rough drilling and cutting. After cleanup and sanding, a little trial fitting with L2A3 parts just for fun. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  4. I'm pretty sure this is the same Jason Hill that is the Carolina Garrison's GML. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=16623&costumeID=126 There is a place on the page to donate money if you like.
  5. Way to represent!
  6. Silicone will stick to silicone, but almost nothing else. Stick a piece of thin, porous fabric to the bottom of the hand guard with 100% silicone sealant. I did this once with a scrap piece of a t-shirt. Now you have a surface on the bottom of the hand guard that will accept an adhesive that will stick to the glove.
  7. My worst experience was self-inflicted. The first time I (unofficially) trooped in my armor was at a fall carnival. I had just completed assembly and this was the first time wearing the suit for an extended time. My right shin was not properly trimmed and fitted, and the bottom migrated up top of my boot, causing the top rear edge to press sharply into the back of my knee. It was literally too painful to walk. Fortunately, this was when the crowd spotted us and we were instantly mobbed. I didn't have to move a step for the next two hours.
  8. It's not easy, but if you unsnap the crotch, shift the cod hard to one side with one hand and can wrestle the plumbing from your spandex with the other, it is possible. OK, that wasn't awkward at all...
  9. Disclaimer: No actual armor was harmed in the making of this video...
  10. Most impressive!
  11. I have never been able to find an acceptable substitute at Lowe's or Home Depot. The only place I know to get them is from Seals Direct in the UK. Brow trim is US52, neck trim is SWR149. http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.asp?intDepartmentId=4
  12. My wife named our wi-fi connection "Alderaan". She couldn't connect to it this evening. We found out later our daughter had unplugged the router. Anyway, when I scanned for the connection with my phone, this is what I saw... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  13. Selector switch turned out well, I think. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  14. It's really not that hard. The first one may be a little intimidating, but then you see it was no big deal after all. Trimming the ears is probably the only part that might really frustrate you. I think many kits include two pairs for that reason. Find a good tutorial on this site.
  15. OK, What you see in the picture at the top of this thread is not an optical illusion. After applying a template and drilling, I noticed something wasn't quite right with the tube. I rolled it across the table and it wobbled. Sure enough, there was a slight curve to the tube. No way I'm using this one. I may try another set from a different manufacturer, but I'm sure straightness in not a primary consideration for what this kind of pipe is used for. Maybe I'll get lucky. We'll see. If not, I'll probably bite the bullet and go with 1-1/4" EMT conduit. Same dimensions, but steel. I don't favor that, so keep your fingers crossed.
  16. Thanks, I thought adhesion might be a problem. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  17. It would probably look even better if I extended the ab as well, putting the joint closer to the middle of my side. Eventually, I will probably do this. Always looking for ways to improve. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks. There is no seam. It's all one piece. I vacuum formed the kidney plate with the sides extended. There is a return edge on the top and bottom that is blended with the edge that was already there. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  19. Not at all. Actually, my first thought was to extend both, but that would mean modifying two molds instead of just the one. I may still do that when I get the chance.
  20. This is how the finished extended kidney plate looked in my approval photos...
  21. What do you call Imperial issued underwear? . . . . (Wait for it...) . . . . Little shorts for a stormtrooper! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  22. It's definitely the right size, but is there a downside to using this? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
