  1. This one splits the mic and headphone signal from one that uses a 3.5mm male pin. smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008OB2NHA/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_2_5?colid=OUP4I6BJYOI2&coliid=I309SW10462CRR
  2. Do you mean the one I am using? It is a 2.5mm female to 3.5mm male stereo plug. Since my old throat mics are for FRS walkie talkies that took 2.5mm. This adapter worked for me. 3. My set up still has the earphones in place and works fine. The adapter splits the signals from earphone and the mic. If you plan to clip off the earphone, I would recommend taping the individual wires so they don't short. There is an adapter that splits the mic and earphone signal that I may try and use the ear phone for an intercom.
  4. Congratulations! Getting your approval for the first time is always SO exciting! Are you planning to aim for EIB or Centurion? If so, I'm sure there will be suggestions from other members to improve on your armor even more!
  5. Very nice..jealous as well.TM is my favorite for sure.
  6. From what I can see, it looks like you can drop the chest armor down a little to minimize the Ab to lower chest gap. It is OK to have a little more room under your neck. Plus it would probably be more comfortable for you in the long run to get a little more lower helmet chin to chest clearance.
  7. There's also the added benefit of being able to disassemble your armor for more compact travel size. I have one of the smallest wheeled tote that I've seen on the troops I have been on. So carry on my friend, you will succeed!
  8. How did I missed this? Great work Tony! Hope to see you on a troop, if not @ C7 for sure!
  9. I don't think the Velcro noise will be any problem as they are being located by the snaps. So they won't have any lateral movement thus no tearing noises. Great work and you are on the final stretch. Look forward to seeing more of it!
  10. Bace222 did you check out my thread on throat mics? May hold the solution for you. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28793-my-experience-using-a-throat-mic-and-source-for-a-mic-only-version/
  11. Great work and adaptation Tim! I could see where extending the wires so that the module is mounted somewhere else would be beneficial. Just don't "High 5" anyone with that hand! I too was on a similar track and been working with a sound board that is primarily used for stuffed animals or greeting cards. My plan was to take the sound output and pipe it through my voice amp. Since most of us have an amp of some kind, this would eliminate the need for a secondary sound board/amp/speakers, created a smaller device foot print, reduce the power supply requirement on the sound board, and last come in at a slightly lower price point. Here is what I have been experimenting with lately. http://store.bigdawgspromo.com/product_info.php?cPath=492&products_id=12970 This sound board is very similar to yours and the Adafruit whereas it is programmable, no need for an SD card and is activated via switches. The one I have been experimenting with has very small (4MM) push button switches. It does come with a speaker but the sound is way too low for be heard other than in a relatively quiet area, thus the need to be amplified. It is powered by three small "button" batteries that are on board. Look forward to your final install.
  12. Interesting use of available tech. Question since I haven't loaded it yet. Is the app written to mute all other notification sounds while it is running? Many of us have plenty of other notification tones such as email, IM, FB, etc. If this app is running it may be unusual to have cell tones playing too. Keep up the great work, I think you are on to something. Many of us have old cell phones laying around doing nothing so this could be a great recycle of otherwise dead tech in the drawers.
  13. Tony, I'm working on something that might work for exactly what your were looking for. You going next week to the garrison meeting?
  14. Hi Tony, I'm curious. Did the 5v VR come with the diode? If not, what are the specs? Thanks, Adam
  15. If the walkie talkies have an earphone output, how about plugging that into a personal PA amp, like the Aker? That should give you plenty of volume!
  16. Awesome recovery on what appeared to be a disappointment. Looking forward to the second half..
  17. Thanks for the side by side. I thought they were much more similar since they have common roots. But I guess not. I may consider building an ATA helmet to see if it gives me some more distance between the lower "chin" and my chest piece. I'm vertically challenged compared to most of my other local TK peers and having a neck that is shorter than most creates a small chin gap making it more difficult to look downward.
  18. Looks like you just snipped off the ear bud part? Here's the link for those who are intetested. m.jaycar.com.au/m_productView.asp?ID=DC1039
  19. Almost makes me want to buy another one to build! These changes addressed a lot of the areas I had challenges with. This kit should come together much easier now. While you are making adjustments to the helmet, how about extending left lower cheek tube area of the face plate? The current set up doesn't allow much room for error when setting up for a low brow.
  20. Thanks for sharing HansDC. Please post a link to the throat mic you chose so that our readers can have an idea of what may work for them too.
  21. Looks great! Just some minor adjustments or new straps and it will be EIB ready too...for basic I would say you are pretty much there. I had the same lateral centering problem with the Back to Kidney alignment. I had to remove and remount the snap plates on mine to shift the Back plate more visually centered. In your case the only way you can close the Back/Kidney gap is to raise the Butt/Kidney up slightly and lengthen the shoulder strapping to allow the Back to drop down a little too. The added benefit will to allow the Chest to drop as well. May I suggest to lower your thighs, it should close up the knee gaps more. Keep us in the loop.
  22. Thanks for sharing Kevin! Good to know members are finding success and another option for microphones. Any problems with finding the "sweet spot" for sound pick up? How about feedback when leaning forward, assuming your amp is mounted behind the chest armor. What is your set up?
  23. Hi Matthew, You can PM TM via his member profile. www.whitearmor.net/forum/user/76-troopermaster/
  24. Hi John, You helmet looks great! Ears are a challenge for sure but as far if they need to be trimmed more, I would say it's a personal preference. For basic 501st requirements you should be fine. The movie suits were all over the place when you look closely at the ears. If this was mine, I would take them down a little. Have a great New Years!
