Thrawns Guard's ANH E11 blaster build
T-Jay replied to Thrawn's guard's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Chris, if you cannot shorten that rod from the switch, what about drilling deeper into that magazine button to bring it lower? Would be good to get that gap closed between the magazine well and the button... -

I am totally with Chris on this one. Great work, Mike. Does anybody here know if the original part moves like that on the real Sterling? Just curious... -
Well, that is exactly the same armor that I have Mine was build by Paul himself. To see how he shaped the cover stripes, just use the link in my signature. Or you can ask for pictures of any specific parts, here or via PM...
-
Hi Simon, some of your cover stripes appear a bit long to me. Maybe you can shorten these a bit!? From what maker is that armor?
-
Hi Richard, you're off to a great start and thanks for mentioning the completion set Just curious if you had any special reason for cutting the scope at THAT place instead of using the seamline for that? The big end has been hollowed very nice, wow! What's the size of your front lens? You enlarged that opening quite a lot.

Tips for using Photobucket to post pics...
T-Jay replied to justjoseph63's topic in Forum Help & Support
Your photos will also disappear when you just move them into another folder within photobucket. But at least you get a warning message for that. -
Screen caps of the extended material

Just like the helmets... -
Your paintwork turned out good. I like it. Will you add some black on that screw head in the grip? Hate to say, but it looks like your rear sight is mounted the wrong way

Very nice, Mike. I would leave it like it is now. Looks great. Love that METALMITE-sticker. -

Episode 7 "F11-D" Stormtrooper Blaster WIP (Pic Heavy!)
T-Jay replied to jjarmoryinc's topic in Weapons of the First Order
Wow, this looks really good. In the teaser I think I have seen that rear sight being mounted vice versa. The front sight guard appears very thin. On real Sterlings it is more solid, but not sure if the screen used thing was copied from original, or just recreated. Seen some pictures, where the D-Ring holder at the end cap was not mounted horizontal, but vertical. Not sure if these pictures showed the real thing... Anyway, great work and keep the photos coming. -
LOL. I ran my build on the computer desk right in front of the keyboard. You can imagine that my vacuum cleaner was really busy those days. And after all was finished, I had to vacuum clean the inside of the computer housing, as the vents soaked in that fine resin dust. THAT was a mess...

Thanks Mike, I really appreciate your effort! That counter mod worked out nice and looks close to the real deal. -

Wow, that counter looks really good on these 2 pictures. Can you also show us a photo to see, how the numbers align behind the window? -
Full resin E-11 from DoopyDoo's with some modifications
T-Jay replied to T-Jay's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
Well, in ANH there is a TK behind Leia (on the left) when she was speaking to Darth Vader. On his blaster you will see something that looks like wires, but this is definitely not these coiled wires. As these are not seen in more scenes, I didn't include it in my build. -

Had the same problem in my build. The serial numbers on real Sterlings are exactly horizontally. This is hard to copy by manually using a punch number for every single digit. The row will most likely become a bit wobbly, unless using a tool to line up all numbers before stamping... However, the original serial numbers were not that deep at all, as metal behaves different than soft "green stuff". Ideally that imprint would only be on the surface just deep enough to clearly see it without the V-grooves around the numbers. Vern (TK Bondservnt2392) had suggested in my build, to use an engravging service to get all numbers in a nice row on a metal stripe and integrate this into the bolt. THAT sounds like the ultimate way, but is some effort... Mike, that battery in the scope is a crazy idea. Sorry to hear your reticle sticker didn't work. -

Hi Chris, thanks for your kind words and sorry for my late response. During that build I heard, those wires had only been on promo blasters, but not on screen used blasters. Therefore I skipped these. -
Hi John, congratulations on completing your blaster Loved to follow this thread and watch your progress, which resultet in this outstanding E-11 blaster. Hope you will have a lot of fun with it - and with your next project

T-Jay replied to Twnbrother's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
That paintjob with the gun metal grey looks fantastic. Gives it much more realism than simply flat black. When you paint that inner bolt make sure to keep the paint layer thin. On my bolt I had to add some washing which somewhat "filled up" the serial numbers... -

Damn, you went a very extreme way - and you're still not done yet! Can't wait to see this one finished but please post some pictures before painting anything. Yes, that research document from Andy (PlayfulWolfcub) really makes people don't like the DD cylinders anymore. It worked the same for me... -
Did these pictures show an original scope? Just asking because so far I haven't seen brass screws in those 2 holes on originals, but I might be wrong...
-
Your paintjob on the scope looks good and the lenses are looking really nice! Maybe you can paint the two small screws on the front in silver/grey as these weren't brass. But that's just a very minor detail. Looking forward to your next update...

Mike, very nice. You made exactly what I had mentioned at the end of that tutorial. Your set of power cylinders will get better than what I've displayed there... So excited to see it finished. Just one thing: I would move the 3 central capacitors a bit more forward, otherwise you'll not have enough space for the red wires on the rear side. -

Woohooo! This looks so - familiar Can't wait to see this bolt painted... Mike, you are going the extra mile with this build. That completion set is in best hands And yes, the wire is 1.8mm -
