  1. Far too easy, Aaron. The thing we really need is a FULL kit in this quality. Just kiddin' These parts would be nice additions to Derrek's blasters. Like he already mentioned, we had talked about adding the spring cup and an inner barrel. This would be so cool...
  2. Hey Chris, now you get to the most exciting part of the build, where the paint brings life to it. a) Thought the same and ended up with a far too shiny spring. Corrected it by spraying some paint fog from a distance and gave it a washing, just enough to remove the glossy shine. You can choose the color on the scope rail to match the main gun, or use the same black like on all other additions from the prop makers to turn the original Sterling into an E-11 (for example the Hengstler counter). e) Not many, but some. If you want to do this, make sure to select a clear coat without a gloss finish. This might look strange. But all the above is just my personal opinion.
  3. Scott, that's an awesome find. Thanks for sharing this here. Will see if can get hands on these over here in Germany and if so, I'll do a little comparison to check out, what is best to use in the completion sets...
  4. That's exactly it. Sorry all for the bad explaining in my last comment. Chris and Mike got it right.
  5. Hi Chris, you exactly replicated what you have seen on that picture above. Unfortunately this doesn't show a real metal socket, but a plastic socket. The closed plastic socket normally covers the Hensgtler logo behind. On this counter, the plastic socket got that square opening to show the logo. What does that now mean for your reproduction? Your work was good and just needs another very little modification to fully match the original. In the Gallery (chapter #33) you can see various types of counters and there you'll find that little difference between the plastic and the metal socket.
  6. New Completion Sets V 2.4 now available

  7. Very nice. Another good use for the ABS sheet. Maybe you could use some thin green stuff to close the seams between resin counter and ABS stripes before painting.
  8. Very glad to see people start using the provided information to answer their questions You are correct, the handle from DoopyDoo's was modified to fit into their thick resin tube. Not sure if these are sold individually, but Derrek (Dday) has a very nice cast from a full size original handle...
  9. These measurements will match the with the ones on top and at the side, because the counter sockets were designed to fit next to each other and on top of each other. Meaning, you will find the required measurements on your counter. Hope this helped

  11. Chris, there are a couple of counter pictures in the Gallery of the FISD E-11 Blaster Reference. On some of these you can see the undersides...
  12. Glad to see you took the red marker pen to make sure your blaster will fire red shots some day Love how familiar this picture looks to me - but I used the green marker pen Keep the good work up and don't worry about the upcoming paint work. Many of us feared that stage, but once started it turned into fun...
  13. Congratulations on the power cylinders and the "new" bolt. Something I would recommend, is to darken that bright silver - maybe by using a more grey color. Just an idea, nothing mandatory.
  14. Hi Matt, I would recommend to wait until the new version of completion sets is available. Maybe you will like more than just the lenses... If so, you can PM me and we can still arrange a possible 2nd shipment to you. Side note: I only offer this to Matt, because he recently ordered a V1.9 completion set, just a few days ago.
  15. Working on a new version of completion sets...

  16. Okay, meanwhile the monocular has arrived and got disassembled. Here is the result: As far as I can see, THIS is the best available option to upgrade the completion sets. It will take a bit time, but there will soon be a new version of these sets...
  17. Chris, its simply fun to watch you building that thing Noticed just one thing: your resin part is parallel to the aluminum part, while the real thing is higher on the side with the pattern and lower on the T-side. Is that something you can still recreate?
  18. Mike, seems like I am a bit late to the party. Congratulations on finishing your great blaster build, which will definitely be an inspiration and source of knowledge for many other builders out there! Speaking only for myself now (not as member of the Blaster Reference Team), I could imagine you might get contacted in the future to contribute some of your work to the Blaster Reference... (not promising anything) Again, you did a fantastic job on this and thank you very much for using (and mentioning) one of my Completion Sets to finish this build. Always a surprise what people do make out of these...
  19. That video looks promising. Can't wait to see, if you used a spring from a pen or a stripe of spring steel... Good work on the counter and the other mods so far. About the screw (Philips or slotted), this depends on the type of counter and when it was made. Meaning both screws are correct.
  20. Nice idea to "glue" the scope with green stuff. Once cured, this gets really hard but to use it as glue, it would have made sense to drill some small holes in both halves, where the green stuff could move into when pressing the parts together. However, the idea is interesting, so please keep us updated if that worked. Dont forget to close the gaps above with green stuff. About the height of the inlay: just eye-size a straight line with the rest of the resin part, but that square knob on the end is slightly bigger, meaning your inlay could move a bit lower there. Might be too late already, but I fear your trigger swings too far forward and will touch the inside of the trigger guard. The little spring might also become visible then. If still possible, you could add some green stuff on top of the trigger (where you had sanded) to create a mechanical barrier for the trigger to keep it from moving to much forward... Good job done with your build so far.
  21. A very nice looking result, Dan. Love the look of your counter window and scope lenses. Really good!
  22. That sounds promising. Can't wait to get it in the mailbox and share the disassembling details here. Hopefully in 1 week from now...
  23. Update: Getting closer to the next version of completion sets Since this poll had been opened, the HQOs seemed to be the favorite choice. Unfortunately the company that sold me the above samples, wasn't able to deliver the amount I needed. So began a very frustrating and time consuming research to find another solution. Long story short: Was in contact with countless people, but either they didn't had both required sizes and amounts, or the price was far too high or the minimum order was 500 pieces or they didn't sell to private persons. Had to go another way and decided to take a closer look at option #2, the jeweler's lens. Ordered one to disassemble and examine it. Here is the result: After seeing all the details now, I don't think the jeweler's lens would be a sufficient option for the blaster builders out there, so I kept searching for other options. When I was close to giving it up, I remembered in the past some people had used lenses from a small monocular. So I ordered one and will post again when it arrives...
  24. Got you, Mathias. At least the quoting tool works fine again Just kiddin'. Not sure if this is of interest for you (or if it makes things even more complicated), but have a look at the word DoopyDoo's in the headline of my completion set-thread and then in my blaster build-thread. Both topics are from 2014, both contain the same word, but only one headline is displayed incorrect now. Does that make any sense?
  25. Fully understand this might get tricky and it affects the majority of threads on the FISD, some in the topic line and almost every thread in several individual replies. So I just wondered, if there is any activity ongoing in the background to fix this for all users, or if the users should re-check and correct their posts manually (quite a lot of work for some people here). Please let us know. Thanks Mathias
