  1. Yay! Congratulations Andrew, and welcome to EIB!!!
  2. Beautiful work thus far, Steve - but I expected no less from you, or Walt's kit. Which reminds me that I should post up my Walt bucket build some time. Heh. One day, I look forward to building one of these for Kellan (and later, Luke) to wear. Thanks for sharing the build, and the fun.
  3. Okay, those stipulations simply mean that you have to use cover strips with the two halves lined up immediately, or near immediately, next to each other. Once upon a time, many armor kits just overlapped, the edge of one half on top of the edge of the other and glued. If you are looking for the width of the cover strips, that is definitely available with some searching.
  4. Okay, too far north to sensibly and regularly hang in Augusta then...
  5. Hey Joe, where you going without that gun in your hand? As Haui and Tomas have pointed out, the weathering is a personal choice. I think your E-11 looks quite fine, the only comment I'd add is that if anything, I might lighten up the T-tracks a bit! because they weren't metal! and therefore probably wouldn't show the same type or degree of weathering as the metallic parts. That is just an observation by me though. As stated earlier, I think it looks good, and at the end of the day, if you're happy with it, then there is nothing else to discuss. Nice work!
  6. Armor looks spectacular, Andrew! Great work. The only things I see are maybe some photo issues: tough to see the details on your bucket's traps and tears because of the lighting, and a little tough to tell which end of the forearm return edge we're looking at for sure.
  7. Take the extra time to figure out the bend in the plastic before you attach it to the fabric and use about four snaps (two stacked vertically at each end) to secure it to your ab plate. It will make things much easier when you are trooping Moving to the Keller area. Centurion isn't that much more work, brother... Take a look and give it some thought.
  8. Blaster is looking top notch, David! As for the weathering... Personal choice. I chose to keep my weathering pretty light.
  9. Sounds like you're on point with your trimming Andrew. As Steve said (just like I said earlier, LoL) you can always trim some more, but you can't trim stuff back on. Don't cut your thighs yet. Wait until the rest of your armor is fully assembled and strapped before you do that. Looking good. Won't be long now.
  10. Denton County? Is that associated with the town of Denton? If so, I'll be a distant neighbor in about six days or so, Ted. Take a look at the EIB and Centurion requirements. They can seem completely daunting in some regards, but the truth is that if you build them towards those goals from the beginning, they're really not that much extra work but your armor will look that much better for having done them!
  11. Beautiful work Tony, thanks for sharing further!!
  12. New requirement for Centurion. Basically, you have to cut out the bottom corners of the kidney plate. Here's a link: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28374-new-eib-requirement-is-no-longer-an-eib-requirement/
  13. Ah, I thought that was a possibility, but with the new Garrison, I had no idea. Good luck in preparing for Centurion, though I don't believe you'll need much of that!
  14. LoL... I got myself assigned as the night shift OIC. After everything calmed down, there was always plenty of "down" time!
  15. Don't forget to cut your kidney notches before you start putting split rivets in!!!
  16. Looking good, Sean! Where in NE GA are you exactly?
  17. Just looking at your pics again... I'd consider making some adjustments to the shape of your neck on the chest plate. It looks very shallow. Cutting it down a bit would allow you to pull it up and get some separation from your ab buttons too.
  18. Looking great, Andrew. I'm glad Germain saved you from pop riveting the thigh ammo pack, that's a cap rivet's job. I remember being where you are right now. Starting to see it coming together for real, and taping it all on. You're on the right path with all of your theories so far. With your legs, I'd trim the tops of the thighs if your shins are actually an appropriate length.
  19. Thank you, Mathias!
  20. Timothy Waychoff 51878 EIB Letter
  21. Congratulations, Frederic!! Are you the first Ireland Garrison EIB now?
  22. Anyway, staying on target here Tony, this is some brilliant and beautiful work. I think I'm probably far from alone in asking if we are going to hear the rest of the story, or see some pics of the bucket end equipment. I never stop being amazed by the creativity, ingenuity, and skills that get brought to our FISD potluck on a regular basis.
  23. I know, right? Does "Shut up and take my money!" Sound familiar?
  24. Thank you, Matt! The build was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the creating the thread as much as the build itself. I'm both pleased and proud that others can benefit in some way from my experience. Be sure to post your own build thread, and as you've seen, the FISD will come to your aid if needed! Thanks again!
  25. Well Andrew... If you want to count up totals, you'll find that the "other guys" wearing the Hero armor as opposed to our guys wearing it are a very small number, indeed. Besides, once I'm settled in Texas, we'll do this whole thing again, with my Stunt gear. Thanks! Thank you, Steve and Brenton! It will be happening in a Texas near you, I promise! Done Steve, and thanks.
