I'm really of the opinion that converting a current ANH/OT kit to meet the eventual R1 TK standard is really just a bridge too far for most builders. Outside of the potential for adding on the detail pieces, the shapes of most parts are very different, especially the ab/kidney seam and the assembly of the parts on the back. The R1 TK is a significant leap in design in many ways, when compared to the OT TKs. Just my $0.02, for what it's worth.

I was thinking along the same lines as Germain, although I was thinking that you could fill the area around the screws with DEVCON, or CA glue, or even E6000 (though the cure time would likely be insane), but then you'd have no way to remove those screws if you needed to. Anybody with actual smarts care to chime in on this notion?

Hey there Doug, first off, nice work on the refit. It definitely looks better. As the others have said, RT-Mod is probably the best bet. If you look at photos from the posts I have linked in my signature, you'll see my RT kit. For reference, I am 6'2" and anywhere from 215-230 in the various pictures. One other tidbit that will help, when attaching your shoulder bridges to the chest, assure that you have the large rectangle and three to five of the smaller ones attached to the chest plate. That will give you a better look, and a better fit over the shoulders.

I waited nine months for my kit to arrive, after initial contact with the seller. I was very pleased with that, as I was originally told it would likely be twelve months.

No kit is automatically approved out of the box. The fit when the build is completed will make a big difference for each person. ANOVOS kits, with some extra work, have been awarded Centurion level here at FISD. That is the highest level of accuracy as defined within the Legion's CRL (Costume Reference Library). You definitely won't go wrong with RS if you are seeking screen accuracy.

Interesting enough question that I broke out the food scale to find out. . Mine checks in at: 3lbs, 8 3/8 oz, or 1,597kg.

Personally, I think that's an acceptable example of what will eventually be level one. To me, it looks a bit too large overall, a bit too much like wool, and not quite enough bunching on the shoulder, to be "screen accurate" in appearance.

At 6'2" and about 225-230, with an athletic build (Career Soldier) the armor fits me like it was sculpted to me. I wear a 46L sport jacket, for common reference. Depending on your waist size, it may fit properly, may be a little large, but you'll be able to trim the abdomen parts down if necessary. However, unless it's really large, you should be fine out of the box. Darth Aloha also wears an RT Mod kit, and he is 6'5". That's probably about as tall a person as the armor will fit without much modification, and without too much black showing.

As Paul (Daetrin) stated, he and I were the two Staff members/Admins that encouraged Christine to share her experience. With regards to kudos handed out for armor makers, there are more than a few threads filled with them. Check out the welcome threads for recommendations. Check out the build threads which really are free advertising for the makers. Check out the EIB/Centurion approval threads, which are also free advertising for the makers. Check out the member signature banners (mine clearly promotes the maker of my armor). Check out general discussions on hard armor anywhere on this forum, and you'll find kudos and recommendations for armor makers. Sometimes, as human beings, the makers have hiccups. Sometimes, they really turn things sideways, upside down, and fail miserably. Mark, I do appreciate your format suggestion, just as Paul does. It isn't a bad idea, and we'll likely have a discussion about it in the Staff area given the merit that it holds. However... I'd say that creating a forum that is exclusively to be used for negative encounters may indeed, by its very existence, lead to more negative encounters. I'd like to anticipate that this is, and will be, more of the one-off variety of posts than a new staple of posts for people to read. Christine has told her story. Paul ™ has responded. Additional comments on the thread probably serve no further purpose.

However... Don't let that information derail the discussion. Let's marvel at the photos and have some fun with it.

For the Official Record: The Death Troopers will be going to Spec Ops. This has already been covered in a conversation with both DLs and the LMO. The Shoretrooper is likely going to Spec Ops as well, but there is a bit of whispering on the Pathfinder front also, albeit unofficial whispers.
