It actually appears to me that the "ridge" or cap piece around the top of the shin is a separate piece that is attached to the top of the shins. If that is the case, I imagine that doing it that way allowed for better customization of the fit of the armor to the individual trooper. Thoughts? Does anyone else see what I'm seeing, or do you see something different?

It definitely is! I just fitted mine with an amplifier and microphone, too. LoL. He'll be the loudest trick or treater ever!!!

Looks great! I've just begun strapping the one I'm working on for my four year old. Anyone reading this, don't underestimate the amount of work that doing this really is. It is substantial. LoL. Great work!!

Much as we've seen recently with the addition of a few new costumes, the discussion about these gleaming white additions to the Empire's storied lineage has been heating up. As a result, this seems like the perfect opportunity to post this shell, and allow our community to begin the drafting process for what will eventually become the CRL standards for the Star Wars Rebels Animated Series Imperial Stormtrooper costume. In advance, I want to thank all of you for the fun that we're going to have here and the healthy and spirited debate that will create that fun. Let's get to it. Typically, there will be a variable number of notches, because that piece can (and in some instances likely will) be cut to fit the wearer. There may be a "normal range" of them listed, but based on individual size, that will vary. As for what we need for this discussion in order to develop the CRL, is just what we've seen so far, people sharing reference photos that they find, and discussion about the various parts, and what sets this costume apart from the other TK costumes that are already in the CRL list. Let's keep it going, and eventually, as we get more and better references, we'll get some content in that first post. Thanks, everyone!!

Vincent, That is a valid point, but the armor parties are Garrison or Squad business, and while some do them regularly, others are too spread out to facilitate them. My intent here was to give everyone a basic level of information and understanding into a simple and common path that many follow when they manage to find the FISD.

Depending on where you live, I'd look at sporting goods stores or even Walmart, Target, etc locally as well.

Additionally, if you decide to put the notches in the armor, they should be 22mm tall and as long as they need to be in order to maintain a 22mm height from the back of the notch until the front of the armor plate.

The CRL needs to be updated to reflect the change, but the notch is no longer a requirement for armor at any level.

What colors are they planning for the elastic and the soles? There have been other discussions happening, mostly off-line, and those will lead to CRL development soon. I want to make sure that all parties that are going to work on the fabrication of them are working with similar guidelines.

In addition to what Eric said, using Bondo will definitely require you to paint the armor.

People have indeed made the Stunt to Hero conversion by themselves, but it would be a very daunting and nerve-wracking process for a first time builder to tackle. I'm not saying it is impossible, but typically, it would require some heating and reshaping of plastic. It isn't for the faint of heart, and it's probably best tackled after some experience is gained with those processes in particular.

Hey Chris, As Tony said above, either Velcro or the hooks are acceptable. My build thread (page 4, I believe) shows the assembly process for my RT shins. There is a link to the thread in my signature below. Mine are closed by way of the hooks, but there are others around that use Velcro, and those can be used as a reference as well. For Velcro, personally, I would put the soft/fuzzy stuff in the inside half of the shins (without the cover strip) and wrap it around the plastic. I would then put the hook stuff on the cover strip and allow it to overlap the seam onto the inside of the shin's outer half. Hopefully, that makes sense. The Hero buckets differ in several other ways, and changing up right now would require you to, at the very least, fill in two of those teeth with ABS paste, as the Hero helmet only has six teeth cut out of it. Additionally, you'd need bubble lenses, and a different set of ears (or the ability to substantially modify the Stunt ears).

TJ, At this point in time, I'm going to suggest that you go and watch the movie again. You know, for research purposes. What you'll notice is that there are very few (if any) Stunt TKs with low set brow trim. That's typical of the Hero buckets. Find a TK that speaks to you personally, and build it like that. With the Stunt build, you really have the option of personal choice with regard to that. It may not be the best picture because of the angle, but here you can see a Stunt bucket alongside a Hero bucket, and you can sort of see the difference in the brow trim height. When in doubt, check screen captures and ask your questions afterward. You can't typically go wrong with the source material as your guide.

Hey there TJ, welcome aboard! A few points that I'll throw out there: 1) There are never enough Stormtroopers. 2) There can never be too many Stormtroopers. 3) The brow should be fine as is (in my opinion) since you are building an ANH Stunt variant. I'd suggest lowering it if your build were a Hero, but you should be good to go for a Stunt. Keep up the good work. You're definitely off to a good start!
