  1. Looks like a Radio shack kit. The black thing in the first pic should be your mic. Make sure it's plugged in all the way. You can test it by tapping your finger on it to see if sound comes out the speakers. Make sure the battery is good. I would suggest scrapping it and going with an Aker setup. You can get the amps as well as the iComm unit (static radio burst sounds) from: http://tkproductsllc.net/. He is a 501st member and stand up guy. You can search for his sales threads here too.
  2. I'm using (2) 12v squirrel fans each with their own 9v battery in my TK bucket. I will be using 4 AA batteries (6v) in parallel with (2) 12v PC fans in my ODST bucket.
  3. Update: Mary has informed me and Legion Command that the legal text will not in any way impact the Legion's right to use the photos in our promotional materials or social media. It is, in her words, simply there to let them do the same. I think that it is a kind of standard boilerplate to protect LFL from getting sued by the owner of the photo, and it makes giving credit on everything much simpler for them. Rather than keeping track of every different photo credit, they can put "property of LFL" on them all and be done. I hope that clarifies things. Bottom line: We can keep doing whatever we want with them, and if anyone tries to tell us otherwise, we have a letter from LFL's Events Lead and 501st Liaison that says we still have free rein.
  4. That info was posted in the Star Garrison forums as well as our closed Facebook page. I haven't seen any updates so far.
  5. Blame the makers of the Sterling.
  6. Your rear sight (18) is backwards and the rear stock catch (13) is upside down: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19872-dm101-doopys-e11-blaster-build/#entry242697
  7. We got word from our Garrison of the following: Don't send in any photos to LFL yet! The legal wiaver states that any photos send are property of LFL & can't be used by anyone else....EVER. The LPRO is attempting to get some clarification on this to see if the Legion can still use the photos or the person who owns the photo. Stand by for further details. If you have already sent in photos, I would suggest you not use them for yourself until we get clarification.
  8. Velcro, nylon, snaps, hot glue/gun, paint brushes, utility knife, curved snips for trimming, clamps, earth magnets, painters tape.......... Check out the bottom of this thread: -----------
  9. Cautious because your afraid of breaking the armor or being pinched? You'll know right away if something isn't right or needs to be adjusted. It will take some time in the armor in various situations (marching, long periods, traversing stairs) before you realize some other things that need "adjusting".
  10. From the CRL (Costume Reference Library): http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_esb Black non-textured material, either one-piece or two-piece construction with no visible zippers or logos/designs. The CRL doesn't mention it specifically, but I think the majority wear the "compression" type under suits.
  11. Whatever is solid black with no pattern, fits you, and is comfortable/functional to wear.
  12. ^^^^^ This is what I do,but I use painters tape instead of duct tape for the mesh.
  13. Yes, those will work. Mine is like that with a zipper added to the front for those restroom breaks.
  14. I think there are too many variables involved in trying to come up with a kit that would be widely acceptable and cost effective for the supplier.
  15. Hobby Lobby has everything you need over in the sewing section. Their snaps are a bit pricey. I get my snaps from Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/100131057?catalogId=10053#.UVRC4xeXR8E). Lowes doesn't carry them. Keep in mind, you can do everything with velcro. My rig has velcro that has lasted 13 years and still going strong.
  16. I use the green lens from TrooperBay. It's just attached on one end via the helmet screws (FX bucket). My old lenses were just hot glued in. Never had a problem (other than trying to see out of them.
  17. AllElectronics sells them cheap. Check this post: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23357-fs-do-it-yourself-fan-kits-in-stock/page__hl__+fans.
  18. We were at an Autism bike ride fundraiser last night at the Microsoft store. While "posing" outside for pictures, one of the girls asked if I was able to pick any one up in costume. I told her it depended on the amount of alcohol she'd had. Of course she wanted to know if I was able to "lift" anyone up for pictures. Good times.... Usual responses...Vader's in traffic, I forgot to smile, Move along....
  19. Only 5W too. I doubt it will sound good. Spend the extra $20.00US and get an Aker.
  20. You want the sound to go outward, not into your body.
  21. I think it depends on the amp. Do you have the 10w or 12w version? The 10w one is smaller (thinner) and may fit better under the chest piece. I've also seen guys with the white version just attach it to their belts. I plan on just using the neck strap an putting it behind me in the larger area of the back part of the chest armor. Once I figure the correct volume setting, I'll just be able to turn it on and forget it.
  22. http://www.studiocreations.com/index.html This is the site I went through back in 2000 when I got my kit. maybe you'll find something there.
  23. I used this: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/4697-howto-make-a-metal-scope-rail-counter-bracket/#entry60157
  24. ----------These?
  25. Lowes, Home Depot, and Walmart carry the bondo and resin supplies you would need if you choose that route.
