  3. The 501st Legion's Empire City Garrison attended the Fourth Annual Star Wars night at CitiField to help raise money and promote the “ Stand up to Cancer “ movement. Members of the Rebel Legion's Echo Base also came out to help support the event. The event was on Friday, July 11th, 2014 during the NY Mets vs the Miami Marlins game. We arrived at Citi Field at approximately 5:30-5:45 pm. We were given 2 fairly decent sized locker rooms for a changing area and were provided with plenty of food and beverages which included a catered layout of vegetable trays, chicken fingers, hot dogs, Gatorade, soda, juices and water. It’s safe to say that we were very well taken care of. We suited up and went out on the floor at 6:30 on one of the tiers for the Star Wars night costume contest. We spent about 15-20 minutes for photo ops with fans before the contest. We then went up on the stage and the contest began. Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia were chosen to be the judges for the contest. There were 3 children picked as the winners of the contest. After the contest ended we went back to the locker room. We were then separated into 2 groups in which we were taken to various parts of the stadium at different times throughout the game for activities which included “ stand up to cancer “ promos and star wars trivia which were projected live up on the big stadium screens for all to see in between innings and on commercial breaks. We were brought onto the field to do t-shirt tosses as well and we escorted the costume contest winners out onto the field at the 7th inning stretch for their announcement. We were all given a Mets t-shirt and a limited edition Travis d'Arnaud Jedi Knight bobble head. Gary Garcia and the stadium staff were very much hospitable towards us. Over all I would say it was a great event. 5. The 501st legion Empire City Garrison attended the “Night at the Movies†West Point band concert at the United States Military Academy base in West Point, New York on June 29th 2014. The West Point band performed a free concert at Trophy field which featured music from music from Star Wars, The Incredibles, James Bond, Pink Panther, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. and more. The show began with the 20th Century Fox theme and of course followed by the opening theme from Star Wars: A New Hope. At this time the stormtroopers of the Empire City Garrison entered the stage to give the crowd true imperial presence to accompany the legendary Star Wars theme. The concert ended with the mighty imperial march. The stormtroopers of the ECG took the stage again this time with Darth Vader. Our favorite sith lord dazzled the crowd by conducting the band and having a light saber battle with one of the US military’s finest! At the concerts end we stayed for photo ops with the band and the audience who attended the concert. We were thanked up and down by our contact at West Point. The band themselves couldn’t thank us enough they said. Everybody loved it. We were treated well as The West Point personnel where very hospitable towards us. We were provided with an entire building next to Trophy field for changing. It is always an honor for the ECG to attend events up at West Point as it is always smiles all around.
