Very interesting! I have a ton of questions about it but i'll wait your thread in the 'Other 501st Costumes' section to see the final result

It would be amazing if you could supply soft parts too! I can't wait to see the final result
-
Actually Bobamaker doesn't sell the backpack, or he hasn't referenced it on his website. But if TM has finally finished his kit of Snowtrooper that's a good news! I might begin to re-interest myself in this costume:)

I'd just want to say: +1 for the mustache !! And congrats for your EIB of course And for your future Centurion application, it looks like your belt kept going lower on your pictures, is it because it wasn't attached to the abdominal plate? Or maybe unsnapped? Because we can see the snaps on both the belt and the ab on your detailed pics. Also you're ears are very thick. That shouldn't prevent you from Cent; but it something i would improved one of these days.

Swedish approvals go fast! Congratulation!! Nothing better than a good news and a cup of tea at the same time In fact, i wasn't really thinking about pinching but more in term of accuracy:). Most of the original thighs i can see have their cover strips cut this way; not all but seems like the majority to me.:

cl6rkee's RS Props Stormtrooper WIP
The5thHorseman replied to cl6rkee's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I'm quoting Steve who wrote a good post on how to attach the back with the facelate, i hope it will help you. And when you put your magnets, be sure to start from the middle of the faceplate to the ears. -
That's a brilliant job we have here! Congratulation! The only things i would modify would be to: - Bring your right biceps down a little bit - On the thighs, you can cut the top of your back cover strips following the thigh line ...and that's all ! Just mind your gloves when you put them on, here both are badly tuck inside your forearms And now what about your blaster build ?!?

Single versus double lense
The5thHorseman replied to DroidHunter's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Also when using a single lense, it leaves the bottom corners open (the lense isn't flat against the helmet) which helps for air circulation -
The best is to use 2'' wide, white elastic straps

cl6rkee's RS Props Stormtrooper WIP
The5thHorseman replied to cl6rkee's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Good luck then ! I hope you'll be ok. Mind the heat while doing it to avoid melting the ABS, work little step at a time and leave it time to cool down sometimes -

Love this brow!! Nicely done! -
cl6rkee's RS Props Stormtrooper WIP
The5thHorseman replied to cl6rkee's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I think you can trim out a bit more of the eyes. But the real issue would be the Faceplate gap. It seems that there is a physical gap between your brow trim and the faceplate. there shouldn't be such a wide gap, the brow should be almost up against the faceplate. -------------- Is there rivets under the ears? Or can you disassemble the faceplate from the cap&back to bring it forward? -
I'd say there's some points to work on. First, it's nice to see your side junctions looking perfect now, good job on that ! Now the few things i would improve: - Hyperfirm put really too much brass on their scopes. You should reduce the weathering down with black paint. - Also you could clean up the molding lines on the blaster (e.g: on the end cap/ the top of the scope, etc...) - Your shoulder bells could be more closed on the front. For proper shoulder belles like RS ones, you should be able to close them more than they are right now. The Closer the Better ! - Your right thigh could be brought up a little (again:p). - What's the holster tan straps width ? RS has the tendency to make them too wide. They should be around 20mm. - Also on the holster, you have fastened the top of the strap to hold the blaster really off-centered. i don't know if it matters but i've always see them fastened to the middle. And this strap should go through the holster and be fastened by the side facing the thigh. And lastly a cosmetical one: i would switch the neck trim junction to the front of the helmet as the gap between the two lips is rather big. This way it would be hidden Good luck with your approval !

Sniper Knee Plate Attachment [AP] Stunt
The5thHorseman replied to Tesla Kinetic's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
The thing i did which truly allowed me to fit this thing has been to flatten the ridge circled below: This way i've been able to bring this wing slightly higher than normally and that really helped me. But I also had to slightly reshape it with heat. -
Sniper plate and Thigh Battery packs...
The5thHorseman replied to Cre8tiv's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
That term is a bit ambiguous, i think "Standard rivet" is commonly used to designate "pop rivets" nowadays. -
About the Thighs: You're right, i'm just presuming the look would be better with thinner back cover strips, and i'm maybe wrong as i haven't seen what would be the result, unlike you . About the kidney: I just noticed that because my bro is currently building up an ATA and we had the same problem but we went with the opposite way. IMHO i don't think a perfect match up between the kidney and the butt plate matters that much, if an ANH stormtrooper requires a separate Butt/kidney plate that's because there was separate molds for them. The picture you linked with an unique kidney-butt plate shows a ROTJ suit, which were really different from ANH. Anyway, as i said i don't think it would prevent you from obtaining your CENT (if i'm the one who's right), and the fact Jose Andrés had his centurion conforts me in that way! The DO will have the final word And sorry if i made you spend so much time in research about it ^^

I don't know about the source, etc... but looking at the parts and the background pic i think it has some nice details and it looks definitely better than the blaster you have right now. There will be a bit of work of sanding the molding lines but i think it will be easily EIB/CENT acceptable.

What Eric is saying is, people who use very wide cover strip in the back is for hidding a gap, like on the diagram i made below. But on the inner pic of your tigh we can see there's no gap, each half of your thigh close edge to edge with its opposite. So there's no real need for such wide cover strips. I understand if you go with thinner ones , the ridges of the two halves wouldn't be hidden by the cover strips edges however i think your look would be really better with thinner back cover strips . Also, a bit awkward but i think you have mounted your kidney plate upside down... I might be wrong, but looking at Ref pics you can see that the kidney flares more at the top rather than at the bottom: (Hig-res pics) http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/sizes/514-screenshot73007jpg/large/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/sizes/458-screenshot72881jpg/large/ To be confirmed and anyway, it might not prevent you from obtaining your Centurion.

TK5926 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [RS] [352]

Question About ANH Bubble Lenses
The5thHorseman replied to buffalo's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
You will also need a proper set of ears with three bumps and not four like the Stunts. -
- My major concern for your application would be your elbow gap which looks very large. It could be easily improve by strapping the biceps and the forearms together to bring your forearms up. It's better to have a large wrist gap than an large elbow gap (even though here bringing your forearms up won't make your wrist gap big). - Also, your kidney plate seems very loose. Might be a good thing to tighten/shorten the strapping between it and the back plate. Or it's maybe your belt which is to tight around your waist. - And i'm surprised you need shims regarding your weight. Are they really essential? Anyway, good luck for your application!

WideAMG's RS Props PVC ANH stunt build
The5thHorseman replied to Squeaky's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
If you reduce the return edges size it should give more flexibility to your kidney plate. They seem quite large right now, so if you're not planning to use brackets you can trim them down a bit -
New Format for Reviewing EIB and Centurion Applications
The5thHorseman replied to Darth Aloha's topic in Announcements
I'm glad to hear it. For all of those who have already visit the MEPD, they have a really great application form, and after having seeing it i was hoping for a DO to establish something like that for some time. Good step forward for the FISD In the same time, I'm having a though for Phil (FunkyTrigger) who had a hard time as a DO and i'm sad to hear he's resigning as i think he did a great job
