The back of the shoulder pad appears to be all smooth.

The design of an armor does not really define its resistance to wear in my opinion. I think the material it is made of is the real relevant factor. The OT armors were damaged so bad during shooting because they were vac-formed and stunts were asking them a lot. Nowadays, there's no way these armors would be vac-formed. They would be made the exact same way they did the TFA armors, and they would be a lot more resistant then. About enhancing the OT mobility. I see three main points you can address to dramatically improve it without modifying much to the design: - First, you need to split the cod from the ab plate. It will give the upper body a lot more flexibility. - Secondly, shorten the length of the thighs. I truly love the original shape of the original thighs and I find them absolutely magnificent. But I reckon they are a touch long for most of the people and if shortened at the groin area, you would gain quite some mobility. - Third, be sure to have the shins and thighs notched at the knee area. By doing just that, you would become able to do pretty much anything a stunt needs to be able to. Lastly, about films not being made for details that's not entirely true either. It depends mostly on the director. Have you ever watched a Ridley Scott's movie?

Phoenix Props / T5H F-11D build

Yes, maybe a touch small indeed but not that much. The screws aren't supposed to fill entirely the recesses. -

Did you put the end cap upside down on purpose? Nothing inaccurate here as we can few blasters (at least one) assembled like that, but I'm curious if it's intentionnal. -
So it's settle, this how I see it. Does not cross in front, but sides are connected. Nice signature edit by the way Tony. Very suited to you indeed.

Pretty much what i'm thinking too.

You're really lazy... -------------

I like to keep it simple: IV-V-VI-VII. No need for the prelogy at all. Honestly I watched them again before the release of the VII, and they are just boring.
-
For the snowtrooper, the backpack is worn... like a backpack. There are two white straps coming from the back of it and looping around each shoulder. You can easily see them on few reference pictures. At least that's what I'm thinking.
-
Yep, remove the hand from the neck, put the helmets on, and they'll look non restricted stormtroopers... By the way Tony, have you seen any FOTK sat in the episode VII? About running in the armor, I suggest watching again ANH and the chasings in the Death Star corridors.
-
Can you please stop saying the OT armor is fully restricting your movements? When in my armor I can very easily run, do stairs, sit, kneel, and lean forward. It's just a question of if the armor is well built and if you have the good bodytype (extras are cast so not an issue). Also if it was just a question of freedom of movement, they could very much have used the same ways they did in 1977 like using rubber thighs for stunts actors, etc... The only thing i retain of these new stormtroopers is how cheap they look... Armors looks straight off a low-budget film with cheap assembly and cheap undersuit showing between the armor parts... Horrible. The troopers from 1977, with vac-formed armors are looking more convicing and real than these new stormtroopers.

This new stormtrooper armor... I thought I prepared myself for it, but there's no way I could get prepared to the disaster it is. Absolutely repelling. Let's hope in the midst of the action it won't be too bothering. However, owners of old Master Replica helmets must be really happy right now...

Yuuuck... I wasn't reluctant to this film before, but now that I have seen this trailer... Opinion changed.

From what I heard, CRL is finished, they just need to finalize the last pictures to put it online. -

Looks like you're going to be one fully T5H armored First Order trooper, from SE-44C to F-11D. Big proof of confidence to my work from you. Thanks . -
Snowtroopers wear the backpack without the ammo vest, so I don't think this is how it is strapped. Also the Hot Toy's backpack is extremely accurate for a toy. Only the plate facing the back isn't much accurate.
-
Same one as the Snowtroopers. It's beautiful beast. ----------------

So much for Eric's policy about CRL changes: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31782-fisd-costume-reference-library-change-policy/ This ruling about the kidney notches should have been proposed to discussion to the whole detachment rather than judged arbitrary only by three or two people.
-
Well, my best answer right now would be: don't do shims, leave the notches untounched, screw Centurion. Honestly I feel like you're doing more harm to the armor than anything with all that modding work, only to have a yellow badge on the FISD.

Nothing prevents you from selling it back, of course. -
TFA First Order Trooper (research and build)

It is with few alterations apparently. I have already advised Jimmy of it a while back now, and he has already posted about it in the guy's RPF thread. However he has still done runs. But it's easy to realize how inaccurate they are now that we have proper reference pictures.
