  1. I used black silicon on my hand guards, worked well for me and haven't come apart yet
  2. My favourite tool on my build was my dremel, but looks like you are going well with your xacto knife
  3. Research is the main thing, as with any costume but more so for one that not many make. Good luck with your search, hope to see a build thread soon.
  4. Looking good, every bit add up in the end, just keep plugging along
  5. I painted before cutting anything, used a satin black so it wasn't shinny inside, if you do get any overspray you can just rub off with some polish.
  6. No not screwed up at all, when you look at the screen lids you will see all kinds of huge gaps lol. A little fresh air in the lid will help keep you cool and stop your visor from fogging up, definitely think of investing in a few fans too, makes all the difference
  7. Looking good so far can't wait to see more
  8. Nice work looking good
  9. I wrap mine in a towel then into my plastic crate it goes, towel comes in hand to have a quick wipe down after a hot troop
  10. Here you go, just a tip I found that you can build up a lot of sweat so I glued velcro to the foam and the lid so I can remove and through in the wash Also if you add a couple of 2" blocks of foam next above your ears this will stop the lid from wobbleing.
  11. You don't have to but it would look nicer with a new metal rail, there are a few things you can do to really make the Hasbro look more realistic, have a look at my e-11 build in my sig
  12. Gaps do help get cool air into your lid so I wouldn't worry too much if you are left with a small gap
  13. Yes it is salvageable, make sure you start with course wet and dry sandpaper, I used 240 grit and did the sanding in water as the paper will last longer, also use something firm, bit of wood or plastic and have the sandpaper wrapped around it, that will give you a nice flat sanding base. Once I was happy with the tooth I then sanded with 600 grit then finished with 1200 grit. Any buffing compound will work, I purchased a small tin from a local Auto shop, wasn't costly at all. The whole process does take some time but it is worth it in the end. I know you have seen the pictures of my hero conversion and as you had seen you can make the extra teeth disapear
  14. Yes he does , no return on wrist of forearms
  15. Leaps and bounds, going well keep up the good work
  16. +1 it can be done, it's just a matter of patience, little heat and some sanding, you can do it
  17. Every little bit adds up in the end, you are going great guns, keep up the good work
  18. Just on the neck seal you have done some nice work there, you could make it with a dip for under your chin, this will make it more comfortable and it won't be trying to push your neck up all the time
  19. I think you could of gone a little more with the heat and you could have used the sanding method to get rid of the rest of the uneven surface, the ABS is quite thick so you won't rub through.
  20. Wow leaps and bounds, doing really well, it is amazing how much can be achieved when everything falls in to place. I used the Dave M hand painted decals so I didn't have to find how many stripes where needed, counted 12 on mine, here they are I have used a tshirt latex paint for my hand guards it does give some flexability, not sure if it would be good enough for the elastic on your boots. Other than that you could try standard spray paint, I have used it on material before and has worked. You will have fun with the blaster build, you can do some nice mods to them too, just depends how far you want to go, I do like being able to see lights and hear sound, so do the kiddies
  21. Sorry Trevor but I have to agree with Steffen even when painted over it just doesn't look right. Using the heat iron can be hard for a first timmer but most of my costuming has been first time hands on, it takes a little practice so grab some scrap ABS and try on that first. I only did the mod to the teeth on my lid as I could not at the time afford a TM hero lid, what is the old saying, necessity is the mother of invention. The heat iron does give you a lot more control compared to a heat gun, and as you are only heating the one tooth you should not damage any of the surrounding lid. Good luck and hope you win .
  22. You will kick yourself later if you leave them, it is not a hard fix and after all it is one of the main differences between the Stunt and Hero versions.
  23. I believe not as it is one of the main differences between a Stunt and Hero version. There are three options, 1 you buy a Hero lid, 2 you heat and push out the teeth, or 3 you fill the teeth with abs paste or bondo then sand flat. Other differences are the grappling box and comlink but these are not a must for Hero applications although I would think they should be, it is amazing how many hero's are approved without these items.
